Bramblekit's pov

"When I become an apprentice in one more moon, I'm gonna have Treestar as my mentor!" Winterkit, a white tom with icy blue eyes boasted. I scowled.

"You can't have the leader as your mentor!"

"Yes you can!"

"No!"

"Ye-" Winterkit started, but didn't finish. I yowl rang out as suddenly, random cats started attacking from everywhere.

"What's going on!?" Winterkit whimpered.

"I don't know - how about since you think you will be mentored by Treestar so badly you lead the defense!" I hissed. Mousebrain! Winterkit sat up tall.

"I-" I watched in horror as a light brown tabby she cat with amber eyes darted in, grabbing Winterkit by the scruff, digging her fangs into his soft fur making him bleed.

"Let him go!" I squeaked. She looked at me and laughed.

"Pathetic!" she spat. She looked back into the camp of disaster, clutching the squealing Winterkit in her jaw. "Ratclaw!" she snapped. "Get this other kit!" The she cat darted out of camp, leaving me to the silver she cat with a black muzzle and green eyes to take me away. She hissed happily until Treestar, a brown tabby she cat with green eyes leaped out, bowling Ratclaw over. She yelped with surprise, clawing at Treestar.

"Quick Bramblekit! Squeeze through those brambles at the back of your den and get out!" Treestar shouted, struggling against Ratclaw. I stood frozen. B-But... "Go!" I didn't think twice. I have to go, don't I? I turned tail and clawed at the brambles, pushing ny way through. I could hear the deathly screeches of my clan mates, and the invaders. I panted, looking back. No time... I slowly started to walk, until I herd Winterkit. Winterkit!? I spun around, and saw that evil she cat pinning Winterkit.

"Do you understand me!?" she hissed to Winterkit. He slowly nodded, eyes wide with fear. What's going on? Fear gripped my belly. The she cat laughed.

"Dustfur-" Winterkit started.

"Did you think I was serious!? Who cares if your a kit - I'm not just gonna let you go!" I could barely watch as Dustfur bent down and sunk her teeth into Winterkit's fragile neck. He could barely let out a squeak as the life drained from his body; he lay limp. "Mousebrain," she laughed silently. My jaw hung open as Dustfur darted back into the fight, leaving Winterkit's body. How dare you! I wanted to screech, but I knew that would give me away. I whimpered, tail in between my legs, shivering even though it wasn't cold. I cried out, feeling sorrow wash over my weak body. A drop fell on my nose. Rain... Why would I care? A memory wafed over me of Winterkit and I playing in the could drippy water, our small kitten paws splashing around happily, the elders groaning and snapping at us. We had fun... But that will be no more... I shook my fur as the rain got heavier, and the fight died down. I peered through the bramble to see a few cats gathered in a circle - circled by the attackers. They were speaking, but I couldn't hear them. All I knew was that... Dustfur... Ratclaw... They were part of Treeclan! Traitors. I saw Dustfur speaking to the cats. Some nodes their head while others didn't; those who didn't, I heard Dustfur say, "Will die!" I saw Flashpaw, a black tom with brown eyes, step out bravely.

"I will never join you!" he hissed. Dustfur laughed evilly. She looked at Whiterain, a white she cat with hazel eyes.

"Kill him!" she hissed. Whiterain hesitated.

"I-I can't..." Dustfur sighed bitterly.

"Ratclaw! Kill both of them!" Dustfur hissed. The circle opened to let first Flashpaw, who Ratclaw leaped on, quickly pinning him and snapping his neck, and then Whiterain, who clashed in a battle. I looked away, unable to watch. Treestar, I prayed, I promise to get revenge... I padded away as I heard Whiterain's cry echo across the clearing.
