Chapter Two: Willow
Zachary White. Zachary...White. I should've known better, of course there was more than one of us. After all, this was thoroughly planned and organized by her. Walking into Kane's office he questioned me, asking why I was trespassing on the Hudson's property. Not like it's used, it looks abandoned anyways. Kane didn't appreciate my comment about that and I simply shrugged. I was issued a week of detention since I apparently made H.L. Academy look 'bad.'
Wouldn't be the first time. That's how it goes though.
After I was dismissed I immediately went to the Math Hall, maybe I could sneak into the Teacher's Lounge and use some spare change to buy Sour Patch Kids or something. I scuttled into the small dark room and as quiet as I could be shoved five quarters into the small slit. It rather loudly sputed out a small pack of candy and I greedily snatched it. As I strutted down the Math Hallway once more I caught that Zachary guy's eye. He seemed...frightened? Spooked? Nervous to say the least. Running his hand through his wavy blonde hair he turned on his heel and left. Not a word to me, but I knew there would be some things said in detention.
School went on and as the minutes ticked by I tried to destress myself and breathe. Whenever the dismissal bell rang I grabbed my things and got ready to head to our designated detention room.
"Hey Will?" "O." "What?" "It's Will-OW, I don't like being called Will." "Right right, sorry." I simply rolled my eyes, I did not have time for Ellie at the moment. "Well anyway, did you hear about the-" "Mr. Lynch being brutally murdered supposedly? Yes Ellie, I'm sure everyone knows at this point." Ellie just stood there, awkwardly clutching her side bag and not meeting my eyes. I know I was being rude but I again, didn't have time for this. "You think Lilith is okay? I mean it is her-" "She's not here today so she's probably not," I started to walk away, "Ellie I have detention I have to get to so please, go mourn with someone else." Ellie muttered an, "Oh okay." and I zoomed. I arrived exactly three minutes late and as soon as I walked in those doors I felt...off.
There were a few junkies and just 'bad' kids in there but no Zachary. There was one guy near the front with jet black hair, gracefully combed into a cute little wave. His features were rather sharp and he had dazzling green eyes. He was attractive but something about him didn't feel right. He seemed...familiar. Being confrontational I sat right by him, "Hey." I half-muttered. He didn't respond. I scoffed, "Not a talker eh?" he set his pencil down slowly and looked right at me, right through me, "I don't know you, so stop talking to me."
"Gale, please be quiet." our monitor exclaimed.
The boy narrowed his eyes at the monitor and didn't look at me again, picking up his pencil and writing what seemed to be gibberish on a paper. I wasn't about to be put out like a candle by some edgy guy like this. "So Gale, is it?" No response, he just kept writing. "I have to ask, are you sure you don't know me? You look quite familiar." his hand tightened on his pencil and I took note of this. God something was so familiar but what. What the hell was it? "Where were you last night?" he slammed his pencil down aggressively. Bingo. That was it.
"Mr Perkins. Please." "Sorry Mr. Lozano," Gale mumbled before turning to me. His dazzling green eyes stared rather coldly into mine, "Leave me the hell alone...please." "I can't do that, we need to talk, asap." "No, we don't. I don't even know your name." "Willow, Willow King." "You're King's daughter?" "Yeah, is there a problem with that?" Gale scoffed shaking his head and ignored my outstretched hand, "Un-fucking-believable." "Is there something you're afraid of?" Gale exhaled deeply, "No offense, but you're King's daughter. Do you not know what your daddy's job is?"
I smirked. He's scared of the law, and you're only scared of the law if you broke the rules. "So is there something you're afraid of? My dad's a simple cop." "He's the chief of the department," Gale corrected, as if I didn't know. "Oh believe me, Gale," the poor guy stiffened at the way I spat his name, "I know my daddy's job." Gale didn't meet my eyes, "Look I don't know what you want but I have nothing for you...or your dad for that matter. So please. Get off my back." and with that he picked up his pencil once more and continued writing. I huffed and leaned back looking around the room. A few minutes passed by and a scrawny blonde boy shuffled in.
Zachary.
He too glanced around the room. Clearly he didn't know anyone in here, but his face brightened whenever we made eye contact. He trudged to the seat next to me awkwardly hovering over it, "Erm...Willow right?" I smirked and stopped leaning back, "Yeah, go ahead and sit." "Oh- uh yeah um o-okay," and the boy sat. He fiddled with his thumbs and looked way too out of breath for simply being in detention, "So uh...I'm Zach...short for Zachary you can call me whatever-" he kept rambling and I easily tuned it out. I didn't have time for a blubbering boy. "Nice to meet you Zachary." and with that he stopped talking. Detention passed by excruciatingly slow and I just needed to speak to Gale and figure out what it was that he did last night.
If he was the same guy that was there, outside of the Hudson's property, we were in for a ride.
