Chapter 37
Chapter 37
A sharp pain shot through my side as I received another kick from Izzy. Her shoulder was bandaged up and she couldn't move her entire arm, but she could still throw some kicks. I gasped for air as the pain remained on my side, and I glared up at her.
She was scowling at me in return, and Steven placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I think that's enough, Eva," he commented, and she huffed.
"She stabbed me! I can't move my damn arm because of her! She deserves even more pain," she hissed at him, and he shook his head at her.
"She's helpless right now. We took her tracker out, so none of her friends know where she is. You'll have a lot more chances to torture her, in the meanwhile, let her breathe," Steven said, and she looked down at me.
"Where are your friends now?" she asked with a mocking pout. "Probably having a drink and enjoying your absence."
"Untie me and fight me like a real person, you coward," I spat.
She seethed and slapped me across the face before pulling my head back by my hair. "Where's the fun in that?" she smirked and let go of my hair after a moment.
It had been around three days since I helped Chase escape. I was sitting on an uncomfortable chair with my arms tied to the back of it and my ankles tied to the legs. I winced in pain and glared up at the man behind all these. He gave me a look I couldn't quite decipher and pulled a chair in front of me. He sat down and leaned back comfortably.
"Does my mother know?" I asked him and stared dead into his eyes.
"That I have you? No. About me being the principal? Certainly," he answered and crossed his arms over his chest.
"You left us, so why come back for me? You could've just left me alone!" I screamed in pure anger. "I gave up on searching for you. I didn't know what you looked like or where the hell you lived, so I gave up. So, why don't you just let me go?"
"I can't let you go, Amelia. You're very important right now," he said, and I huffed.
"You didn't seem to think that when you left my mother to raise me by herself," I retorted.
"You weren't even supposed to happen. You were an accident—a mistake," he explained, and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Good to know that this father-daughter reunion is going splendidly," I said sarcastically, and he raised an eyebrow at me.
"You don't care about anything I say, do you?" he asked, pretty much already knowing the answer. I just stared at him blankly, and he sighed. "Look, I am certainly not going to try and win you over with a dad speech. That is not my intention."
"Then what is your intention?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.
"The same one you had when you joined this gang," he said simply, and I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Revenge? On who, me?"
"Not exactly. Let's just say your mother and I have some...unfinished business," he stated, and I frowned.
"What unfinished business could you possibly have after eighteen damn years?" I asked, bewildered.
He just smirked and stood up, straightening his suit. "That is for me to know, and for you to find out," he said and walked to the door, looking at the two guards. "Take her to her room and keep an eye on her."
They nodded at him and stepped aside to let him walk out. Afterwards, they walked over to me and injected a needle in my neck before untying me. My limbs went numb as they draped my arms around their shoulders and lifted me up. I glared at them the best I could, but didn't get to see their faces due to the masks they were wearing.
They dragged me out of the office and up the stairs, grumbling things under their breath. Once we were inside my room, they sat me on the bed and closed the door.
The funny part, though, was that they didn't walk out of the room.
I narrowed my eyes at them and they dropped their weapons before walking in front of me. I slowly started regaining movement on my limbs and managed to move my arm. One of the guards held my arm and the other looked back at the door before they both took their masks off.
I stared at them wide-eyed and furrowed my brows in confusion.
What?
"That man is such a rat," Danielle whispered as she inspected my bruises.
I looked between the two of them and blinked repeatedly.
"Dan? Ken? I-I thought you were killed back then. I left you to die. H-How?" I asked, dumbfounded, while not quite believing my eyes.
"Look, there's not enough time for us to explain things to you. All I can really say is that we have been held victim, just like Chase. Anyway, Steven thinks that you think we're dead, so no matter what, you've got to keep acting as if we are," Kenneth explained.
"We will get you out of this, we promise," Danielle whispered at me and they quickly placed their masks back on.
They gave me one final look and left me alone in the room as I processed everything in my head.
* * *
Disgusting. That was the only way to describe the trash they gave me for food. It was either uncooked or tasteless and made me want to throw up because of the foul smell.
If I was going to die here, I would rather die by starvation rather than food poisoning.
I pushed my uneaten tray of food aside and walked into the bathroom. There were some folded clothes on top of the sink and a towel on a rack. I checked the clothes and noticed they were a perfect fit, making me frown. Apparently, I had a stalker of a father now.
How lucky of me... or not.
I stripped out of my clothes and stepped into the shower, turning the key so that warm water fell over me. My muscles were sore, and my cuts stung under the warmth. I winced in pain as I cleaned myself with the bar soap, and saw a first-aid kit next to the towel.
After stepping out of the shower and drying myself, I treated the bruises that I could see. I wasn't going to lie and say it didn't hurt, because it hurt like hell.
I stepped out of the bathroom fully-clothed, and walked toward the door quietly. I heard hushed voices from the other side and glanced over at the clock on top of my nightstand. It read 7:27 in the afternoon, and I sighed.
There was no point in trying to escape for the moment--this time, I was actually locked inside a room. At least it was a clean one--with a comfortable bed--so I wasn't really complaining.
I sat down on my temporary bed and began thinking. The conversation between Steven and I from earlier kept me restless.
What could be this "unfinished business" that he talked about? What could my mother have possibly done for him to hold a grudge against her for eighteen years?
The sound of the opening door caught my attention and I stood up straight, prepared to fight.
Gregory walked inside and raised an amused eyebrow at me. "Up for a fight, I see. No need for that," he said and closed the door behind him.
"Says who?" I asked and narrowed my eyes at him.
"We can't have you dying right now, do we?" he asked, and I furrowed my brows at this. "The most powerful guards are outside the door right now. One word from me, and there will be a bullet in your brain within the blink of an eye."
I huffed, and he smirked. He walked toward me, but I stood my place as he reached his hand to my face.
"That's right, I'm in charge now," he said, and I stared at him blankly. He graced my cheek with his hand and I hastily pulled away in disgust. He grabbed my jaw firmly and stared down at me. "Why don't we revive old times, darling?"
Before I could say anything, he pushed me down on the bed and straddled me a second after. He attacked my neck with sloppy kisses, and I gagged. He gripped my waist and held me down forcefully, biting down on my shoulder.
Deciding to play along, I let out a fake moan, making him smirk against my skin.
"You still like that, don't you?" he whispered in my ear then kissed my jaw.
I didn't say anything and just waited for him to move up. When his face was on top of mine, I leaned up and kissed him forcefully, feeling disgusted with myself. He instantly kissed back and began moving his hands up my shirt.
I pulled away and stared up at him, biting my lip before speaking. "Just like I still like this," I whispered back at him and head-butted him on the nose. He yelped, and I pushed him off of me then looked at his perfectly broken nose in triumph as he fell to the floor. He held his nose in pain, groaning and saying things under his breath. The door was instantly kicked open and the guards walked in with their guns aimed at me. I cursed and was about to charge at them, but they fell to the ground a second later.
Soon enough, two other guards walked in, and I recognized them as Kenneth and Danielle. Kenneth motioned for me to hurry, but someone took hold of my ankle and pulled me down.
I looked back to see Gregory glaring up at me, and I scowled at him.
"You're not going anywhere," he growled out, and I kicked his face. He groaned and let go of my ankle, before I grabbed one of the guns from the floor and aimed it at him.
"See you in hell," I hissed at him and pulled the trigger.
His body slumped lifelessly to the ground, and Danielle took hold of my arm.
"Let's go before more guards get up here," she said and pulled me out the door.
Kenneth threw a bulletproof vest my way and I instantly put it on. They led me through another door, then down a narrow hallway which gave me the chills.
A static was heard before a voice spoke up, grabbing our attention. "Three men are down, and the package is gone. All guards around the area begin a search party and find her! She can't leave this place," a ruff voice said through a speaker, and I scowled.
"Am I seriously being referred to as a package? Couldn't they be more creative?" I asked and rolled my eyes.
"I thought the same, but that's not the point right now. Behind that door are more guards, so you have to act up as if you're struggling against our hold," Danielle instructed as we neared a door. I nodded, and they took my arms in a firm grip.
Kenneth kicked the door open and I started struggling against the couple's grip, making the guards look at us. "We have her!" Kenneth exclaimed, and the guards aimed their guns at me.
"Good job, Olsen. Bring her to us," a man spoke, and I continued to struggle.
"Why does she have a bulletproof vest on?" another one asked.
"We can't have her dead now, can we? Our boss needs her alive for the plan to work out," Danielle spoke up, and the guard nodded slowly. I glared at the men in the room and noticed there were only four of them.
This was going to be an easy task.
I felt for my gun in my waistband and managed to escape the couple's grip. I instantly aimed at one of the guards and pulled the trigger, sending a bullet to his head. He immediately fell to the floor, but an impact on my back made me throw myself on the ground. Yet, the man that shot me was immediately killed by Kenneth.
The other two men were down quickly, and the couple led me to another hallway. We were almost out when a head of blonde greeted us, and I groaned in annoyance.
"Looks like the three best friends finally got a reunion. Seriously, guys? Why would you try to save someone that left you to die?" Izzy clicked her tongue in disappointment, moving the gun in her hand from side to side.
This girl just didn't give up.

Danielle and Kenneth are back from the dead! Honestly, Amelia doesn't deserve them. We've got to agree with Izzy there. Would you have left Amelia to try to escape by herself, or would you decide to help her even after everything she's done? Let me know your decision in the comments! Vote if you liked and I wish you a wonderful day. xx
