Chapter 5

Chapter 5

The next day, I woke up and rummaged through my closet lazily to find something to wear. I settled with some black skinny jeans and a white crop top, paired off with my biker boots. My fingers found my makeup kit on top of the nightstand and I opened it to reach for my eyeliner and mascara. I applied them on and finished things up with some maroon lipstick and a messy bun. My eyes took in my appearance through the mirror and a small, satisfied grin tugged at my lips before I grabbed my phone and keys and headed out the door.

To my luck, my mother had already left for work and my stepfather was still snoring in the comforts of their bedroom. I jogged down the stairs, two steps at a time, and headed for the garage. The garage doors were already open, which led me to believe that my mother dearest forgot to close them once she got out.

How haven't we got robbed yet? Right, it was probably because of the fact that our house was like a mile away from any other building and the street was always serene. Now that I thought about it, I could make one hell of a party without getting noise complaints.

I shook those thoughts away and grabbed the handles of my bike, feeling too lazy to walk today. Deciding not to infuriate my stepfather—for now—I walked out with my bike by my side and threw my helmet on once at a safe distance. I hopped on the seat and turned the key in the ignition while listening to the engine roar to life and smiling at the sound. The clock on my phone indicated that I had thirteen minutes before the warning bell of the school rang. I secured it in my back pocket before grabbing the handles once again and speeding down the street toward the school.

I parked my bike right outside the gates and took the keys out, wiggling them in my hand and making them jingle a little. I took the helmet off and hung it on the left handle then made my way inside the school grounds. Students walked through the parking lot towards the entrance and I buried my hands—or rather my fingers—inside my pockets. I walked past the school gates and headed to the entrance where a familiar couple was currently exchanging saliva samples. Rolling my eyes, I stood beside them and cleared my throat rather loudly.

"Lily!" Danielle chuckled and separated herself from Kenneth in order to give me a quick hug while Kenneth just bumped my shoulder. I chuckled at them and shoved them playfully as a greeting.

"You know, not everyone wants to learn French," I retorted.

"We give free lessons. Those who are not interested can just ignore them." She snorted.

I just laughed and stood between them both, wrapping my arms around their waist. They looked down at me with a raised eyebrow and Kenneth rolled his eyes while I pushed them to walk forward. We barely made it three steps across the entrance when someone grabbed my shirt and pulled me back.

I looked up sheepishly into a pair of stern blue eyes and chirped, "Freddy Fuzzy Fazbear!"

"Amelia Clark." The familiar fifty-year-old man sighed. "We're both well aware of your three-day suspension."

"Ah yes, news travels fast around here."

The warning bell rang, and the couple gave me one last amused glance before walking away.

"I don't need any trouble with Principal Morris, so don't go around causing problems or I'll have your head," he warned. "Also, stop calling me by that name. I look nothing like that robot bear from that horror game."

"You're still a security guard whose name is Fred." I chuckled, and he let go of my shirt. "Plus, you have the body of an adorable fuzzy bear."

"Alright, get out," he grumbled in annoyance and grabbed my arm, pulling me out. I reached up and ruffled his shaggy brown hair when he let go of me a few feet away from the entrance. He walked back inside, grumbling things under his breath as he went.

I smirked and went to dash around the building until a certain car caught my eye. An idea popped into my mind and I looked around to make sure nobody was nearby before digging into my pocket. It took me less than two minutes to finish up my plan and I smirked in triumph.

Glancing around one last time, I headed to the back of the school and into the soccer field. I made my way across the lawn and entered the boys' locker room, scrunching my nose up at the lingering smell of sweat. I was a little surprised to find the room empty as I made my way to the doors that led to the inside of the school. Before I reached the doors, however, I heard footsteps and chatter growing closer. I cursed under my breath and scurried to hide behind the lockers just in time for the doors to swing open.

"I've told you already, Gregory won't make it to the championships if he continues to be like this," the voice of the soccer coach spoke up. "He's failing most of his classes, he's been found drunk on school grounds twice, and he got into a fight...with a girl, for heaven's sake!"

"Come on, Coach! He can get a tutor for his classes and we can keep an eye on him around alcohol. As for the fight, she was the one who started it! You can't just kick him out like that!" a boy protested.

I peeked around the corner to see the coach glaring down at three other boys with his arms crossed over his chest. "Yes, I can. I already have enough reasons to do so," he said to the dirty blonde guy.

I could faintly make out their faces as I recognized them from Gregory's group of donkeys—I meant, friends. The bell marking the beginning of the first period rang, but none of them made a move to head to class.

"Gregory is the best player out of everyone in the team. If he's out, who the hell will replace him?" the shorter of the three—Ethan, I believe—asked with a sigh.

The coach's stern demeanor changed, his shoulders relaxing and a smirk easing its way to his face. The boys looked at each other in curiosity, while an unpleasant chill ran down my spine. "Why the devil herself, of course." My eyes widened. "Amelia Clark."

Silence...

"What?" all three boys exclaimed, their voices bouncing off the walls.

Was my brain playing tricks with me?

"Are you out of your mind? If anything, she's worse than Gregory himself! There's no way in hell that we're going to accept some lousy chick on to our team," the dirty blonde snapped.

"It is a boys soccer team, after all," the quietest of the three agreed.

"Raymond, behave," the coach scolded the dirty blonde. "Her reputation might not be the best, but her skills with a soccer ball exceed Gregory's and she hasn't even been found doing half of the things the boy has done. It is my decision that stands, whether you like it or not, and I will be speaking to her about it."

Raymond scoffed and stormed out of the locker room, while the other two boys exchanged glances and sighed. Ethan just shook his head in disappointment and motioned to the quiet one to follow him. "Come on, Oscar. Let's go."

They walked out of the locker room and I let out a sigh, causing the coach to look over to my hiding spot. I hid back as quickly as possible, only to have the back of my head collide with a locker and a beautiful curse to leave my mouth. Footsteps approached as the coach's chuckle grew louder and I seriously felt like slapping myself across the face.

How smooth of you, Amelia.

"Quit hiding. I saw you the moment I walked through those doors," he said. I slumped my shoulders in defeat and stepped into view to face an amused coach. "You know that you could get in serious trouble for roaming around here."

"How do you know I play? I've never played in public," I asked, completely ignoring his statement.

"You used the field to play around with the ball on a Sunday. I happened to be passing by to collect some stuff that I left behind on a game. Your skills are quite impressive."

"Why even pick someone like me? You said it yourself, my reputation isn't the best around here and I literally just got suspended about twenty-four hours ago," I pointed out.

"Reputation isn't what really matters here, but skills and passion. We could talk about this some other time and in a better place. Please, do consider joining." He flashed his pearly whites at me, and I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. He waved me off and walked away, not giving me a chance to answer.

Were people starting to go crazy around here or was it just me?

I shook my head while trying to process whatever just happened. Not wanting somebody else to walk in and find me, I headed to the door. I looked down both ends of the hallway, and luckily enough, it was completely empty. Traveling down the corridors, the events from only a minute ago vanished as I neared the office.

Who would've thought that sneaking through the boys' locker room would win me an offer to play soccer?

I peeked through the door to find the secretary with her glasses up her nose and fingers typing lazily on her keyboard. I fished my phone out of my pocket and casually stepped away to the side by a few feet and leaned against the wall. My fingers tapped on the phone screen, dialing the school's number then bringing the phone up to my ear. After two rings, my call was answered, and the secretary's dull voice greeted me on the other side of the line.

"Good morning, Miss Secretary," I greeted in a voice that made me sound like a screeching cat. "I believe that I walked past your car and noticed some offensive writing on the windows! Is your car a black Corolla parked by the side of the building?"

"Yes, that would be my car. Who is this and how do you know about my car? Everyone is supposed to be in class," she said, her tone skeptical and demanding.

"You should probably go and check your car. Whatever was used to write those things could be permanent."

"Listen here, if this is one of those silly pranks, you will be in deep trouble!" She snarled and didn't waste any second to hang up. I brought a hand to my mouth to hold in my laughter as I watched her storm out of the office. She didn't even spare a glance anywhere as her heels clicked against the floor and she continuously pulled her pencil skirt down. At least she didn't notice me hanging out right next to the door.

I casually slipped inside the office and made my way behind her desk. There were different files littered across her desk and her computer screen showed different pictures of... cats.

Right, because a secretary's job was to gush over adorable kittens with big doe eyes—probably photoshopped anyways.

I ignored the pictures and sat down on her chair, digging my fingers into different files. It took me a minute to finally come across the one file I needed. Smiling, I opened it and took my phone out to take a picture and put the file back in its place. Before I left, however, I decided to type in a porn site on the search bar of the secretary's computer. I snickered as I clicked on a video and dashed out of the office. Her dark hair appeared around the corner as I escaped.

Once I was at a safe spot, I looked for the picture in my gallery and inspected it.

I know, I know. This is only a filler chapter and doesn't have much of the desired action most of you expect to find. I did try to spark things up a little bit with some of Amelia's little pranks. Did it work? I surely hope so.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter even a little, and if you did then feel free to vote and comment on what you thought about it!  Have a wonderful day ♥
