Chapter Eleven

I was still slightly asleep when voices started to pop up around me.

"What do you mean I can't see my son?! He's my son!" A man's voice sounded out. Grunting I slowly opened my eyes and tried to sit up. I couldn't sit up all the way due to something on my stomache.

Looking down I noticed that I wasn't being held down as much as I was being held period. "Zachary!" I whisper yelled in surprise. I tried to shake him awake but nothing seemed to work.

I finally slapped him across the face which seemed to do the trick. "What the-" A sudden knocking on the door seemed to really wake him up. "Son we're coming in!" The same man's voice from earlier said.

The door opened giving neither one of us time to react. A man and woman entered the room both wide eyed once they noticed us together in a very... interesting position on the bed.

"Mom, Dad!" Zachary said immediately letting me go. Unlucky for me since it seems he was the only thing stopping me from falling off the bed.

Landing flat on my butt I let out an 'oof' as soon as I landed. "Laurel!" Zachary raised his voice a bit looking over the side of the bed. "I'm fine." I said standing up from my position.

I looked towards the couple standing up front who stared at us bewildered. Looking back at Zachary I leaned down. "Who are they?" I asked trying to be as quiet as possible.

"Those are my parents." He said eyed me and the couple back and forth. "What! You didn't tell me that they were coming today!" I whisper yelled at him.

"By the way... my parents are coming today." He said sheepishly as he scratched the back of his neck. If looks could kill, this man would be dead in an instant. Taking a deep breath I turned to his parents.

"Hi! I'm Laurel Aquil-Busca." I cheerfully greeted them using my fake name. They seemed to buy it and didn't ask further questions on the matter.

"So you're Zachary's girlfriend? Ha! Ya did good son." Mr. Ruso said hitting his now fully dressed son on the back.

"Dad, I could use a little trust you know." He said before they started talking business stuff. "Hmm. I can never keep up with all this mafia talk." Mrs. Ruso said to me while watching the men.

I looked at her curiously. Wasn't she born in the mafia? That's a major rule that unless you're born in the mafia you can't marry a leader!

"I know what you're thinking Mrs. Aquilla. And no, I wasn't born in the mafia." I looked at her stunned. "H-how did you?"

She looked at me with a smile. "I remember when you were younger, fourteen maybe, roaming the streets behind your parents. I also remember how miserable you were. I can't forget the frown that you make." She said looking at me with a motherly kindness.

Pulling on my arm we walked out of the room. "He doesn't know does he?" She asked still walking forward. "Who doesn't know what?" I asked following behind her. "Zachary doesn't know that your, well, you." She stopped to look at me and I shook my head.

"Men these days. So easy to fool them. Anyway we have exactly two hours and thirty-seven minutes of free time to do whatever. Let's go." Still tugging me along we walked out the building and into a parked car outside.

It was a black BMW that looked almost brand new from how shiny it was. As she walked on the driver's side and opened the door I went on the passenger side.

The ride was silent until she parked the car. "Where are we?" I asked once we exited the car. "Rome's shopping distict. At least one of them." I had ever been in this part of town before.

"Come on! Don't tell me you've never been done here before!" She dramatically shouted as I stood rooted to the ground. "I-i've never been shopping before." I said looking down ashamed.

"What?! You have been deprived of life!" She said grabbing my arm and walking into a dress shop. "I shall teach you then." She walked over too a rack and examined me.

"First you find your size." I wasn't totally stupid, I knew my sizes in everything. "Then you grab what you like." I looked through the rack and grabbed a couple dresses whilst she grabbed about five or six.

"Then you go try them on." Shoving me across the store and into a room she left me with the dresses. Sighing I put them on one after the other but one of us would always find something we didn't like, whether it be the color or the style, sometimes we just didn't like it.

"Try this one on!" She said holding up a bright blue strapless dress. (Image up top peepz) Nodding my head I tried it on and looked at myself. I've never worn a strapless dress before, to be honest, I kinda like it.

Stepping out I showed Mrs. Ruso who clapped happily. "Yes that one! Hurry up and change!" She said pushing me back into the room. I quickly changed back with the dress in hand as I exited the small room.

Walking back out she grabbed the dress and went to go pay. I would've stopped her until I realized that I had no money. At least with me. Coming back to me with a bag in hand she grabbed my right hand.

"Come on we aren't finished yet!" We exited the store and walked a little before entering a shoe store. Yet again I tried on a million shoes before we found a pair of silver heels.

Once we finished she started to tug me along again back to the car. "Hurry child!" She yelled when she let me go so I could get on my side of the car. Getting in I immediately buckled up as she sped off all the way back to the head quarters.

Getting back we quickly got out he car and ran to the door. Once we entered we thought that we were safe from any kind of scolding but instead we got a clearing of a throat from the sofa.

Looking over both Zachary and his father sat there with crossed arms and a cocked eyebrow. Gulping we smiled sheepishly and and played innocent as I hid the bags behind me. Don't get me wrong, she got stuff too but didn't care to hid it.

"And where did you two go?" Mr. Ruso asked as he stood up from his seat. "No where important." Mrs. Ruso said swaying from side to side.

"Oh really?" Zachary asked. I let out a squeak. When did he get in front of me? "Yes really." I said lifting my head. Looking behind me then back at me he smirked. "I'm not so sure about that." He said grabbing the bags from me.

"Hey!" I shouted as he held them above his head. Laughing I jumped trying to get to them. I was only an inch off but I couldn't get to it. He laughed himself and stood on tip toes to make it even harder for me.

I jumped repeatively. It was no use but I continued to try. I jumped one last time but landed wrong on my foot and began to fall. Following immediate reactions Zachary bent down to stop me from falling.

Catching me with one arm I let out a breath of relief before seizing my opportunity and grabbing the bags and ran off towards the room my stuff has occupied.

Running away I knew he was right behind me. "Laurel! You can't get away from me!" He said as he began to get too close to me. I pushed my legs to go just a little faster as I got in the doorway and closed the door.

I slide down the door out of breath. I heard his frustrated sigh and the sound of retreating foorsteps. Closing my eyes I let out a long sigh as I stood up and put everything away.

Opening he door I retreated back to he living area. Entering the room I noticed both men missing and Mrs. Ruso sitting on the couch watching the news. I sat next to her and listened to yet another pointless scandal that some celebrity did. Honestly get a life people.

"Oh dear! We should start getting ready!" She said and grabbed my arm for the millionth time in the past three hours. I didn't necessarily care though as she dragged us out into the hall.

She somehow knew where my room was and seemed to faulter a moment before putting her smile back on. "Noone has touched this room in a while." She murmured as she sat in a chair.

"Well go change into your dress and shoes!" She said cheerfully. I nodded my head and grabbed the items. Stepping into the bathroom I changed clothes and put my hair up into a bun.

Walking out I put the shoes on and stood up. "Perfect! Stay right here I'll be right back." She left the room leaving me to my thoughts.

Why would anyone touch this room? Was it important?

Thoughts of the 'old chef' came in mind when I met Thomas. Was this her room? Not to mention that Mrs. Ruso seemed to know whomever stayed in here. My eyes widened at a thought. Is this where Zachary's ex stayed?

It made since. Why else would she care or even know who stayed in this room unless his ex stayed here.

"She was like you and got shot at, except she didn't get out of the way in time."

I gasped when I remember he entire conversation that I had with Thomas. She was killed.

I was disturbed when a knock came on the door. "Come in!" I replied standing up. Mrs. Ruso entered with a pair of dangling diamond earings and a diamond necklace.

Not giving me time to argue she turned me around and hooked the necklace on and put the earings in. Dang... it looks so... expensive.

Looking in a mirror I felt as though I was wearing a million dollars. Not looking, wearing. I looked back over to a now very dressy Mrs. Ruso an wondered where we were going.

"Come on then." I followed behind her and entered the living area. "Tom keep everyone in check." I heard Zachary say as I entered the room. All the men were single file in front of him and it looked as if he just gave them orders.

The clicking of my heels caught Thomas's attention as he looked at me. Mouth agape he hit Masoch who looked over, who hit Nate, who looked over, who hit Chris, who looked over, who hit Tom, who looked over.

All five men stared at me in awe as I entered the room. "Did you guys hear a word I said!" Zachary said annoyed when Tom hit him and pointed to me.

Yet again another guy looking at me in awe. Clearing my throat I followed Mrs. Ruso over to the door. "Well come on Zachary. Offer your arm at least." She said grabbing her husband's hand.

He walked up a tad bit quick and I took his arm and wrapped my hand around it. "Off we go then."
