Chapter Thirty-Five
THIRD POV
Severus gently guided his submissives towards the back of the train, already feeling the loss of his dominant. Draco and Harry shared a sad look as Harry gently touched Severus' hand in comfort. The subdominant gave a small, sad smile and gently squeezed both their shoulders in reassurance. Several minutes passed before Draco heaved a sigh as he was passing the compartment obviously containing his housemates, dreading having to go back to being 'Malfoy', the stuck-up pureblood Prince of Slytherin. Seeming to sense his domsubmissive's thoughts, Harry checked the surroundings and quickly pecked Draco's cheek before turning back to walk straight. "It's okay Draco, I'll know it's not real." A tiny bit of stress was lifted off of Draco and Severus' shoulders at this statement, even if their submissive didn't notice. "I know Harry, but still... I was- the things I said were so mean." Harry smiled lightly and shrugged before turning to glare at one of the younger ravenclaws who was snickering at him. The boy immediately shut up and looked away, dodging back into his compartment. Severus shook his head slightly and let go of his submissives' shoulders to open one of the nearby compartment doors. "Come, let's get you settled Karus."
Harry sighed softly when the last glimpses of Draco and Severus faded from the window of his new compartment. His Zorro has made sure he was completely comfortable and safe behind spells of all different caliber Draco and he said farewell. Selene slithered out from around Harry's waist to lay in his lap after noticing the submissive's sad persona. "You really have strong emotions for them don't you?" Harry have a small smile while gently petting Selene's head feathers. "Yes, I think so. Do you have any strong emotions for anyone?" The snake queen suddenly seemed to snap as her pupils blew wide, staring intently at Harry. "Oh, only for you my Lord." Selene seemed to sway as if under his siren's trance and reared up, as if to strike. The thing that scared him was that Selene's aura had changed completely to magenta in just a few seconds. Selene lunged just as Calli swooped down and plucked her out of the air. The raven alighted on the opposite side of the compartment from Harry and put Selene in such a position that the snake could not rear back to bite her.
Suddenly, the compartment seemed to drop several degrees, but the room brightened. Death and Starheart appeared next to Calli, causing the poor bird to startle and let go of Selene. Death snapped his fingers and Selene became enclosed in a glass cage. "Hello Harry." Raising his eyebrow at the appearance of his new friends, and especially their attire, Starheart giggled. "Oh Harry, this is my normal wear, and don't expect us not to visit you. Ironically, it can get kind of boring in your head. We also saved you from a chance encounter with the Weasley boy." Harry wordlessly glanced at his compartment window and, sure enough, a flash of red hair went by as the boy searched for Harry. "Thanks Ms. Starheart, I guess I'm just confused as to why you are both here, of all times. What happened?" Death sighed and leaned back, snapping the caged Selene into his hands. "This happened. Starheart and I were thinking something along these lines would be occurring, but this confirms what it is. I have not had a Master before and it seems that one of the catches of being the Master of Death is a type of allure. It's much like your siren's, but I believe it affects animals more than humans as they understand and accept that there is such a thing as the circle of life, unlike the human population. They find a solace in death that can't usually be found in life. Thus, your aura pulls them to you with the promise to fulfill their need for love and comfort." Harry groaned while Starheart giggled. "Is there any way to get rid of this?" Death hummed and set Selene to the side while Starheart seemed to be deep in thought as well. There was a few moments of silence before the beings seemed to think of something. "I believe the only way to do that would be for me to seal your magic. The way to gain a title is to become what the title defines, and so if I were to take away what you got for becoming the 'Master of Death', I would need to block off that part of you as well." Starheart nodded along, while Harry immediately knocked that off of any possibilities. "Are you sure there aren't any other ways?" Starheart and Death shared a look while a small smirk grew on Starheart's face. "I would think completing your mate bond would do the trick." A flash a pain and betrayal flew through Harry causing him to avert his eyes downwards, feeling tears threaten to fall. A cool breeze blew through the cabin as Death moved to gently comfort his master, sharing a look with the woman. "Oh honey, I didn't mean it in a mean way. I just want you to be protected." Harry gave a soft sniffle and leaned into his friend's side, blearily looking up at Starheart with his tearful eyes. "Sweetie, you know you'll have to face your fears at one point in time, right?" A small growl escaped Harry's throat as he tried to push off the tears and pulled on Death's cloak. "I've faced enough of my fears! Why must I face them all?" Starheart sighed in despair as a few tears escaped from Harry's eyes and she got up, sitting on the other side of the distressed male. "Because of Fate. Everyone always has a certain destiny planned for them, but she was not unkind when she dealt yours. Harry, do you think you would have either of us or your mates if Fate has not felt at least a smidge of pity for you? Even the most powerful of deities give mercy when it's due." The submissive hesitated, before sighing and relaxing back into Death. "It's just... you know, I'm not quite ready for something like that yet." Death smirked cruelly as he remembered the literal flaming hell he had thrust the despicable humans into. He would go back to watching them suffer after this, maybe even help with their torturing. "I'm not really trying to push it on you Sweetie, but I just want you to know that the allure will eventually stop when you get to that part in your relationship with your mates." Harry nodded, calming down, as he felt his eyes began to droop. Who knew Death's embrace would be so relaxing? Death gently pet Harry's head as the submissive gave a small, cute yawn and curled further into the arms of his companion, falling asleep to the soothing feeling that Death radiated.
