Broken Two - Rachel Marshall
I grab his arm and hold it tight. He cannot just leave me alone after he stole me from my date. He holds my hand off harshly. He may look dapper, hot and like a gentleman in his tailored suit but he is so not nice.
He jerks back and whispers to my ear. His lips are so close to my cheek. “I don’t need you anymore. You can enjoy your time with everyone who is said to know you.” He says in his manly voice which sounds disrespecting but somehow there’s a glint of temptation to me. “Rachel Marshall.”
When he leaves me, I let out a heavy sigh. I thought he was going to peck his lips to my cheek as his way of insulting me. He was so close but he managed his space very cleverly. I didn’t even get a brush of his skin. However, I already feel like my cheeks are burning.
“Rachel, I apologize on his behalf.” Caleb says. “I’m Caleb Northman, Juan’s best colleague.”
I try to get my smile back despite my mood is crushed by the man who played me just for his own need. “You don’t need to do that. It’s not your fault.”
“Believe me, Juan Victor is actually a great man.” He says.
I smile and mutter to myself. “Oh totally believable and he must think he’s too great for anyone.”
Caleb’s date invites me. “We can enjoy the evening together. I always love to see your amazing photography in magazine. You’re more stunning in person.” She keeps a smile tugged on her lips.
“Thank you so much. I’m sorry I haven’t got your name.”
She extends a hand to me. “I’m Cara Sanders.”
I get myself a drink because I’m dateless now. I throw a glare when I see Juan Victor on my sight. He acts as though he did nothing to me. He doesn’t even take a glimpse at me. He looks very serious talking with his colleagues.
Finally, it comes to the time when he is honored to give a speech on the stage. Everyone pays attention to him attentively, while here I’m with my red wine being relaxed. If he can act like he forgets about me, I can pretend like I don’t care either.
Now that I get the moment to stare at him without afraid of being caught, I can’t deny how handsome he is. His dark brown borderline to black hair is styled neatly. The look in his eyes is powerful but somehow decent. His nose is also a worth compliment feature. He has chiseled lips. His jaw is sculptured with side burn beard which only makes him looks hotter.
For so long as I stare at him, he never sees in my direction. I can’t believe he’s not affected a bit by our little fight before. It is like he forgot everything that has to do with me. I would rather that he gives me a dislike glare so at least I know it bothers his mind. Instead not a bit he shows that.
I snort. “What a billionaire.”
People give ovation after his speech. I go to take another drink and meet some people who I need to meet as I’m the representation from my fashion line industry. To kill the rest of the boring time, fortunately I meet other fellow models whom I can talk to. Until the end of the Gala, Juan doesn’t even bother to check on me. He’s supposed to give me a ride since I’m his date, even though a fake one.
“Come with me.” I gasp when a hand grabs my bare arm tightly. Juan Victor forces me to come with him.
I want to take off his hand of my arm but he’s so strong. He also manages to look fine in front of everyone. He puts his arm around my waist and makes me walk.
“Can’t you treat a woman a little bit nicer? I saved your big ego from not having a date but you treat me like a crap.” I snap but I still have to fake a smile along the way because people are watching. I have image as important as his to keep.
He answers simply. “You’re rude and have no respect to me.” He sighs as we get to his car. “Caleb called my driver and arranged this for us to give you a ride. I just want to let you know I wouldn’t do this for you.”
“Good person would thank me for I what I have done for you.” I’m so irritated by him.
He presses my back to get me inside the car. “Just get in! I don’t want to waste my time having foolish arguments with you.”
I throw myself on the back seat. Without giving a warning, he sits beside me and squeezes himself against me. His arm feels like crushing my arm. I move aside and give as much as space I can make. For ten minutes he acts as if I wasn’t there. He is super-hot but sadly very boring.
“Juan,” I move close to him. “I see your business is on textile industry.” I touch his shoulder.
He moves my hand from his shoulder. “Are you new in this city?” His lips form a tight line. I don’t think he won’t ever smile to me sincerely.
“I moved here a week ago.” I say.
His eyes don’t show any emotion. “No wonder.” He glares at our touched arms. “Are you desperate to have physical contact with me?” He whispers in very firm voice. “Move aside.”
I feel like cursing but I just keep it inside. He has been so cold and arrogant. I’ll show him the real me. Instead of moving from him, I press my arm to his. When he looks at me, I lean in closer to kiss his cheek. He opposes it quick by holding my arms.
“What is wrong with you?” He puts me back to my seat with a bit of shove.
I hide my fear and smirk. “I’ve been asking the same thing about you this evening.”
“Jacob, pull over here.” He orders his driver. “Pull over, now.”
“Yes, sir.”
I protest. “Wait what are you doing? My place is still far away. You can’t drop me here. I don’t want to take a cab.”
“Thankfully I’m a gentleman. Jacob will drive you home and I will take a cab.” He says. “Jacob, take her to wherever she asks.”
Jacob replies. “Yes, sir.”
“What?” I’m speechless. He is just plain rude.
For the first time he smirks at me but the kind that is offensive. “Goodnight Rachel Marshall.”
I grunt. I don’t want to go home soon. My mood is ruined so badly. I ask Jacob to drive me to my favorite club night instead. I don’t care that I’m still wearing the dress which is supposed for special event only. The fellows in the club adore me anyway.
“Hey Rachel?” The guy on the bar counter is surprised to see me. “I thought you were invited at the Gala.”
I sigh. “I was just there.” I drink the first shot of my whiskey. “If you may ask, it was a total mood destroyer.” Before he asks further I add. “Don’t ask me why.”
He puts his hands up. “Okay I’m your guy.”
“Rachel Marshall!” Hayley approaches me. She is one of fellow models who have been very welcoming since I came here. “Why do you look dull?”
I take another shot of whiskey then reply. “You won’t believe what I’m going to tell you.”
“Try me.”
“I met this blazingly hot and handsome billionaire but he was a total mood destroyer.” I snort remembering him. “Who did he think he is for being so bloody cold to me?”
Hayley says with no hesitation. “Because he’s Juan Victor.”
“How do you know? I haven’t told his name.”
She chuckles. “Oh Rachel, you’re so lost. Everyone knows him. Hot, handsome, and cold-hearted billionaire. That is so Juan Victor.” She says. “He is available in case you’re interested.”
“Oh please! You’re so funny.” I gulp another drink.
Hayley knows me or everyone can guess what I have in mind when I meet a hot guy. “In denial.” She says that in singing tone.
“Yes I want to try him.” I grunt. “He’s just so hot you know despite his big ego and feeling too good for anyone.”
She pats my shoulder. “Every woman does but no one ever gets to him. If you can, you will be praised or envied by every woman in the city. They will ask for a session of how to get to Juan Victor.” She warns me. “He is untouchable.”
