Taemina: Merry & Happy

(ship requested by Gitchy_Life)

(Concept: Taehyung and Mina have been dating for a while, but this year is their first Christmas while living together)

(Mina POV)

"What about this?" Taehyung holds up the star for the Christmas tree.

"That goes on last," I say, "Your family didn't do that?"

He shrugs, "I dunno. We kinda just put everything on, the order didn't really matter."

This wasn't our first Christmas together, but it was our first Christmas since we started living together. Last Christmas, I was still living with my friends.

Taehyung and I spent a lot of time picking out Christmas decorations for our new home. Christmas was in a few weeks and we were putting up our tree today.

I felt a lot of pressure while I picked out gifts for him. I knew he would appreciate anything I got him, but this year just felt different. I felt pressured to make sure everything about this Christmas was special.

We would spend Christmas morning with each other and then head over to his parents' place in the afternoon to celebrate with them. I couldn't go see my family this year, but we still made plans to video call when we could.

I woke up on Christmas morning, the room was cold and I didn't want to get out from under the blankets. I laid awake in bed until Tae opened his eyes.

"Jagiya, merry Christmas." I greeted him as he woke up.

He smiles, stretching his arms, "Merry Christmas, baby."

We made breakfast together before sitting down in front of the tree to exchange gifts.

"You should open one first." He insists.

"Which one should I open?" I ask.

He shrugs, "Pick one, any one."

I pick up the first gift I saw. It was a box wrapped in gold paper, sitting on top of everything else.

"W-wait! Not that one, save that one for last." He takes it from me and puts it behind his back.

"Okay..? I'll choose a different one."

I tore the paper off of the box and opened it up.

I gasp, "Oh! This is the new game console I wanted! How did you get it? It came out a few days ago and it's been sold out everywhere!"

He laughs, "It wasn't easy, but I have my ways."

I give him a hug, "Thank you! I love it."

He chose a gift to open for himself.

He shakes the box, "What is it?"

"Don't shake the box! You might break it!" I say.

He rips open the box.

"Woah! Wait...what is it?" He picks up the glass frame.

I help him get a better look at it, "I painted it myself."

It was a glass painting of his favorite character.

"You painted this? This looks professional! You're really good!" He hugs me and kisses my cheek.

"Th-thanks." I was flustered.

We got through all of the gifts except one. All that was left was that gold box from the beginning.

"Here. This one's gonna be good." He says, handing me the box.

"The rest were good too though."

"Hmm..." He hums, "I have a feeling you'll really like this one."

Inside the gold wrapped box was another, smaller box. I open it slowly.

"A ring?" It was a silver ring with a beautiful gem in the center.

Right as I reveal what it is, he takes it from my hands again.

"That's right." He kneels in front of me, "I spent so long searching for the right one. One that was perfect for you."

Wait...is he-?

"I just have one thing to ask you," He holds the ring out to me, "Will you marry me, Mina?"

I couldn't believe my eyes or my ears. I definitely wasn't expecting this, but of course I said yes.

He slides the ring onto my finger before kissing me.

"Merry Christmas, future wife." He holds me close.

"I can't believe you just did that."

"Neither can I."

We shared the news with his family later that day. They were ecstatic. His parents called me their daughter now. They were always nice to me, but it felt different now.

I couldn't help but smile every time I thought about my future with Taehyung. We've been with each other through thick and thin. I can't image spending the rest of my life with anyone else.

When my parents found out, they were so excited for us. My mom was so excited, she almost flew out to Korea the same night we told her. My mom liked Taehyung since the first time I brought him home for them to meet
him.

"He really loves you, Mina. I can tell." She told me, "I think you've found yourself someone special."

I thought about her words and all of our memories as the day was coming to an end.

I sat in our living room, almost ready to go to bed, looking at our tree with no more gifts underneath and our stockings which were no longer stuffed.
Taehyung came and sat next to me on the sofa.

"Today was fun." He says.

"It was."

"We get to start off the new year already even better than this one." He smiles.

"We need to start planning our wedding." The realization finally started to hit me, "Where should we have it? When should we have it?"

"We'll think about some more." He leans back, "Wherever we have it, I'm sure it'll be unforgettable."

I watched the snow fall outside the window. It was nice and cozy inside.

I turn towards him, playing with his hair, "Thank you, Taehyung."

He looks me in the eyes, "Thank you, Mina. I love you, you know that, right?"

"Of course I do." I smile, holding my hand out to admire the new ring that sat on my finger, "I love you too."

He holds my hand, rubbing his thumb over the jewel, "I promise you, we're gonna have an amazing life together."
