I can hear your heart
trembling inside your chest
as you try to suppress
emotions you hold within,
trying not to be seen.

My fingers inch closer
awkward and hesistantly
I withdraw my hand reluctantly
lest you get a glimpse
of me being thorny.

Hearing your erratic breathing
and constant shivering,
I inch closer
and lock against your arm
keeping you warm
without a sound
lest I let
my emotions be found.

The chill around you
lingers in the atmosphere
I feel afraid, yet hesitant
in fear you'd push me away
in case my emotions go astray.

Yet I want to tell you
how much I really love
each bit of you that you doubt
no one would care about.

Shut in from the rest
emotions hidden under a crest
embellished over your chest
a heart spun with lies
covering the truths you hide.

No one must know
no one needs to know
for all you need to show
is nothing but being cold;
a facade to fool the naïve
you thought couldn't perceive
that cold as a mask to your emotions
that I'd embrace without hesitation.
