"Louis you don't have to do this." Harry assured as he watched Louis reach for his apartment keys, the boy having to dig through four different pockets to finally find it.
"But I want to. Don't make me change my mind, Styles." Louis smiled, shuffling with the keys while Harry stood behind him as he tried to hide his nervousness because—fuck—he was letting someone into his flat. The flat that not even Niall had ever been in longer than two minutes and he'd been friends with him for over three years. It was a big step for Louis and the fact that he was letting Harry in—figuratively and literally—it meant a lot.
"You should feel lucky." Louis spoke up again with a shaky voice, unlocking the door and holding on tightly to the handle to stop his fingers from shaking. "You're literally the only person I'm letting in here since I bought this piece of crap so don't take it for granted. I'm... trusting you—doing the trusting thing—something I don't do often, but there's you and I trust you. So don't take it for granted, okay... Wow, I'm rambling now. Okay, I'll just open this to keep myself from talking any longer." Louis pushed the door handle down then pushed the door open, taking a deep breath in. He bit his lip nervously when Harry walked in and looked around, studying his face as he closed the door.
"Well?" Louis asked, leaning on the closed door.
"Well," Harry said. "I was expecting like, dead bodies everywhere. With the way you were so scared to show me, I was expecting the worst." He chuckled, trying to get Louis to crack a small smile and stop being so nervous.
Which worked.
"But there are no dead bodies, or roaches, or whatever just a couch, and a TV. And a kitchen, pretty normal." He nodded, taking a seat on the couch.
Louis pushed himself off the door and walked to Harry, sitting on the couch next to the lad.
"So you don't find it... disgusting? Or shabby? Or small?" Louis asked, legs up on the couch now.
"Not really, no. I'm not judging it, Louis, if that's what you're getting at." Harry smiled, pecking Louis' cheek to calm him down.
Louis was expecting the worst too. He was expecting Harry to instantly know the many horrible things he'd done in this very flat. He was expecting him to know just how many times Louis had thrown up in this place or cried or broke down... He actually didn't really know what he was expecting exactly. It was Harry and it wasn't Harry to judge or criticize so easily and that gave Louis another reason to love him so much.
The corner of Louis' mouth lifted up into a small smile and he hummed. "Good, then." He said, giggling—disguising it as a cough because Louis Tomlinson doesn't giggle, what?—when Harry started kissing his cheeks, then his nose, then his temple and everywhere else on his face, pushing him down to the couch gently and hovering over him, showering him with affection that he never seemed to have had and loved. "And speaking of kisses," Louis said, making Harry pull back to look at him.
"Remember? That kiss we had so and so days ago, are we never going to talk about that?" He smirked softly, raising an eyebrow.
"What is there to talk about, huh?" Now the corners of Harry's lips were lifting up but not to form a smile but a small smirk as he moved a little so his body weight wouldn't completely be on Louis.
"Well. First, you don't just kiss your best friend." Louis pointed out.
"Unless you really like him."
Louis raised an eyebrow. "Did you just confess your undeniable love for me?" Louis laughed airly, his arms snaking around Harry's waist.
"Hm, Louis, you know what?" Harry hummed, nosing at Louis' cheek softly before kissing it. "I think I just might have."
Harry then pecked Louis' lips, surprising the lad a little but it didn't faze him at all. Louis even leaned up to peck his lips again. And again and another time because he knew Harry wanted this just as much as he did and he could do it and God, knowing that felt amazing.
"But you know. We can't just be kissing like this and still call each other 'friends'. That would be such a shame, wouldn't it?." Louis teased some more, playing with the buttons of Harry's button up shirt.
"Well, that wouldn't be the case if you were my boyfriend." He said and Louis could swear his heart stopped beating for a second there. Soon he was smiling from ear to ear—very much like Harry was—and looked him deep in the eye to see if he was actually serious.
Louis was shocked, he had to say, but he quickly recomposed himself, snapping one right back at Harry.
"Well I'm not."
"Well, will you be?" Harry asked, a giant grin on his face that was identical to the one on Louis' face now.
Both the lads were smiling so big and blushing and Louis knew he looked a mess at the moment, but he did try to play it cool. As if his heart wasn't rapidly beating at that moment. Act as if he wasn't just playing with Harry's buttons because his fingers were shaking now just like earlier. The blue eyed boy chuckled a little and nodded his head, his eyes not leaving Harry's and vice versa.
"Yeah, why not." He shrugged, closing his eyes a little as he felt Harry's lips plant one on his cheekbone, knowing he'll never stop his body from vibrating every time he had Harry that close.
And that night, their kisses were slow and sweet and Louis could honestly not have asked for anything better.
