AUTHOR'S NOTE: Feedback
First off, thank you for reading my novelette, Calling Mr. Nelson Pugh. As I've mentioned before, I am happy to receive feedback, both positive and negative. I would like to complete one more pass through this manuscript before publishing as an ebook via Amazon and possibly other digital ebook retailers.
That being said, I am looking for any feedback. What worked for you? What didn't? Were there sections that lost your interest? Particular sections that kept your interest? It is always good to know both where I need make tweaks, and what babies shouldn't be thrown out with the bath water. When editing, I hate to get rid of something that was already spot on.
Now with feedback, much of this could confine itself to minor grammatical tweaks, spelling corrections, tightening of pace, etc. It does not have to be limited to this approach. There are many possibilities that I am currently considering, such as:
- Shortening much of the prose in prior to *** SIX ***.
- Adding in flashbacks to Dr. Smith and to the firing of Stan, along with other potential flashback, and using those flashbacks to create red herrings for the possible identity of the stalker.
- Perhaps starting much later in the process for Nelson, i.e., right before he begins to check the messages.
Other options being weighed include:
- Maintaining the bottle episode, one location structure...
- ...or having Nelson proactively attempt to reach his family taking the company rent-a-car and attempting to drive home for instance...
