Seven

As time went by, my pregnancy got a bit, uh, wild, to say the least. I had very bad cravings, morning sickness and mood swings. Gilbert and Ludwig really got the short end of the stick though when it came to this who thing; if I wasn't crying one minute, I was barfing the next. Then I would be angry or hungry a few moments later. If it wasn't stressful enough on Ludwig as it was.

One night, maybe around one or two o'clock in the morning, my stomach began to growl. I woken from my sleep by the sudden gurgle in my stomach and felt like I was going to die without food. I glanced over at Ludwig and saw that he was in deep sleep. Of course I didn't want to wake him up but I felt that I had no other choice. "Ludwig, Ludwig wake-up," I whispered as I shook him by his shoulder.

Ludwig let out a groan and tried his best not to get upset when I woke him from his sleep. He sat up and let out a deep yawn. "Vhat's vrong Catherine?" he yawned as he turned on the lamp.

"Ludwig, I'm hungry," I complained, rubbing my somewhat swallon stomach.

My husband sighed, knowing that he wouldn't get any sleep until I was full and satisfied. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and got on his night shirt, which he had taken off in the middle of the night, and stretched himself out. "Vhat do you vant?" he asked after he finished his stretches.

"Pickles." I loved pickles. Well, I guess my baby loved pickles because I didn't actually start eating them until after I got pregnant.

"But Catherine, I think ve're out of pickles," Ludwig told me. The way he said that made it very clear that he didn't want to have to go out to get any. That would've been impossible anyway because all the stores were closed at this time of night.

"Please Ludwig. I'm so hungry," I begged. I even gave him the pleading eyes. Ludwig couldn't resist the pleading eyes.

With another sigh, Ludwig finally went downstairs to see if there were any pickles left. He was down there for about ten minutes before he came back up with a jar half-full of pickles and pickle juice. He handed it to me, after opening it of course, and then crawled back into bed to get some sleep while I ate the delectables and even drank the juice.

A few days later, Elizabeta came for a visit. She and I had grown rather close during my time I lived in Germany and we were pratically best friends. She came over often and we talked about a variety of things. On this visit, she wanted to go baby clothes shopping. What surprised me the most though was that Gilbert was the one who agreed with it. I found out why though; he just wanted to go into town with Ludwig to get a beer.

3rd Person's POV

Germany and Prussia were seen sitting at a German bar. Catherine had just told Germany the news about being pregnant and Prussia saw reason to celebrate his younger brother's surprise. Beer was the last thing that Germany wanted though. He was going to be a Father. He wasn't really sure how to take care of kids. (Then again, he was able to take care of Italy and Prussia alright).

"Come on Vest, have another beer," Prussia insisted, nudging his brother in the arm. "You're going to be a Vater! You need to celebrate!"

"I don't think beer is going to help me Bruder," Germany replied.

"Vest, beer is alvays the answer vhen it comes to things so stressful." Prussia got another beer for himself and then got one for his little brother. "Besides, do you really think Catherine vill let you drink beer vith a kid in the house? This is your last chance before the little kind shows up."

"Vell..."

"Don't be a chicken Vest! Just drink!" Prussia then gulped down another glass of his own drink before letting out a loud burp.

Germany glanced down at his own glass and side. Vhat harm could a little bit of beer cause? He thought before sipping down some of the beer.

Catherine's POV

Elizabeta and I were finishing browsing through the toys apartment when she found the cutiest little dress on a rack. "Do you think she'll like this dress?" she asked, holding up a little pink and blue dress.

I giggled. "Yes. I think so," I agreed. "I really think it will be a girl, even Ludwig isn't sure what to think of that."

"I'm sure he'll be very protective of her."

I nodded. I knew he would be protective of the child if it was a girl, which I was convinced it was. "He seemed very nervous when I told him."

"Well of course. He's going to be a Father."

After buying a few gifts here and there, we walked down the streets of Berlin to head to the little cafe where Ludwig had proposed to me. We were just going to get a quick bite before meeting up with the two to go home. As we walked past the bar, I stopped when I saw my husband and brother-in-law drinking inside. I glanced to the side of Gilbert and saw the empty glasses stacked up. Oh dear, I thought before walking inside with Elizabeta right behind me.

As soon as we walked inside, whistles from drunk men were heard. Elizabeta sent them all a quick death glare to tell them to shut up or die. I glanced around the corner to see the brothers singing drunkily. It seemed to be a song in German because I couldn't understand all the words they were singing. "Ludwig, what are you and Gilbert doing?" I asked, getting Ludwig's attention.

Ludwig quickly turned around and blushed when he saw me standing right there behind him. He seemed like he didn't want me to see him like this and quickly tried to cover his face, believing if he couldn't see me, then I couldn't see him. I giggled at Ludwig's silliness and moved his hands away from his face. "I see you and Gilbert were having fun."

"Uh, vell ve- you see ve vere-" Ludwig tried to figure out what to say but found himself having trouble processing the right words to say. "Catherine I-"

Before he could finish, I planted a kiss on his lips. This surprised him for a moment but he then melted into the kiss and then reached down to feel my swollen stomach.

While we were having that little moment though, Elizabeta was giving Gilbert a good scolding for drinking so much.
