Chapter 3
As I walked through the forest, I soon came to my favorite place in the forest. When anyone else looked at it, they would only see a big rock on the side of the path. However, when I looked at it, I saw what was under it, a tunnel. I was about to push the rock off of the hole, when Prince Javan came strolling down the path. "Oh, hey, Celai." he said, "How are you?"
"I'm good," I told him and then asked him, "what are you doing this close to the border?"
"I could ask you the same thing." he said.
"Well," I said, "I practically live on the border."
"Right." he said, "Well, I am here on royal business. My father sent me to talk to King Leon and his son, Prince Beck." he said that last part with a contemptuous voice.
"Okay, well, I hope you and the 'best axman in either kingdom' have a good talk." I told him jokingly. He looked at me in surprise, "You don't like Prince Beck!"
"Why should I?" I asked him.
"Well, I mean you are half dwarf." he reasoned.
"Yeah, but I'm also half elf." I answered.
"Does that mean I'm your favorite prince." he teased.
"Don't count on it." I stopped him before he would think too highly of himself.
"Oh, well, I'll be on my way." he said walking off. When he had gone off a little ways, I walked towards the rock and gave it a little push. It moved enough so the I could slip into the tunnel.
When I was in the tunnel, I lifted the rock a little, and covered the opening. As I walked down the passageway, I suddenly realized that someone had moved the rock. I froze and slowly pressed myself against the wall. I reached into my quiver and pulled out an arrow. I quietly put the arrow into its place in my bow. As I waited for the thing to reach me, my breath came shallow and fast. I calmed myself and made my breathing slow. Meanwhile, the thing had reached me. I pulled up my bow and put it against its chest.
