"I was thinking about London." Dan responded without realising the relevance of his answer. Phil bit his bottom lip to stop a massive smile from erupting. He felt hopeful for the first time in a while. The hangover was still present and Dan was suffering from it which caused him to become groggy so he wasn't thinking straight. "And have you looked anywhere yet?" Phil asked hopefully. "Nah, it was just a spontaneous idea I had the other day. It probably sounds stupid." Dan responded doubtfully.
Phil watched as Dan walked away from him towards the counter to buy the new clothes he had picked out. His brain was buzzing, Phil so badly wanted to ask Dan to help him but he didn't want to make him uncomfortable. Besides, Dan was still hung over. Phil might've met a version of Dan that doesn't even exist without alcohol.
Dan returned with a shopping bag as Phil grabbed the nearest clothes in his size in order to get back to the younger boy. Everything began to feel more natural, the two had changed into different clothes and it now seemed as if they were just being together for enjoyment rather than it being a favour.
As they walked down the streets of London, Dan's eyes lit up and began smiling like a child in a toy shop. "It's real! It's really real!" He exclaimed whilst jumping up and down with glee. Phil didn't know why this change of mood arose but a happy atmosphere was immediately replacing the relaxed one.
Phil looked up to see that the building Dan was looking at was in fact 221B Baker Street. "You like Sherlock too?" Phil asked excitedly. Dan's hangover instantly disappeared as he dragged the black haired boy over to take a picture in front of the building together. Looking back at the picture, they both realised how happy they looked. The smiles on both their faces were so genuine, Phil's tongue was peeking out of the side of his teeth and Dan was mid laugh.
They looked up at each other without saying anything and their eyes interlocked. They looked at each other straight in the eyes for a good ten seconds before Phil broke the stare. Both of their pupils dilated which showed excitement to be in each others presence and this feeling scared Phil.
He didn't want to ruin everything good that had happened by admitting he's gay and making things awkward. "Dan's eyes were just moving as a coincidence," Phil convinced himself and then the pair continued walking as normal.
After some time, the boys found themselves in a diner drinking chocolate milkshakes and laughing together. "So what now?" Dan asked. Phil looked down sadly. "Well I have to finish packing my boxes for moving house." He admitted with a sad expression replacing his happy one. "That would explain the boxes everywhere I suppose, why are you moving?" Dan inquired. "My brother used to live with me but he's gotten a job back home up north and I can't afford the rent. I'm moving back in with mum and dad until I can find a new house." Phil responded in an upset tone.
Dan looked over the table to the older boy who for the first time in the past few hours seemed helpless. Seeing a person so kind being hurt broke Dan's heart. He wanted to help but felt as if he would be intruding if he did. After a few short moments, Dan blurted out "Okay I know this is gonna sound weird because you barely know me but if we're both looking for flatmates I could help pay the rent." Phil looked up at Dan and cracked a huge grin. "I thought you'd never ask."
