Chasing Seventeen

(Freya Milano)

“This is going to be fun.” The heavy clouds that have been hanging on the sky since this morning seem ready to rain down on them.  I look at him with a crooked smile.  I love that it’s raining as I turn around the fight as if the nature is on team Freya too.

The clouds finally are pouring their water to rain down the whole Afton.  I’ve known how it rains in Afton.  When one area is raining, the chances are every spot is rained.  It washes the blood from our wounds that are recovering, except Alexander is recovering slower than me.

“You feel that brother? That is control.  You could have died if I wanted too.  You always talk about not being ready and control.  What if it’s you who’s not ready?” when I want to say more, Jamie interrupts me with a stake shot at me but I catch the stake without looking away a second from my brother.

I use the stake on Alexander instead on his other leg that wasn’t shot by Jamie.  He falls on both his knees.  The cold makes his condition looks worse.  He’s so pale almost like a vampire that hasn’t drunk blood for too long.

“I’m done with your ways.  You always think you can control everything and everyone; that everything has to be done by your ways.  Did it ever cross your mind to ask me before you just swoop in and control my life every single time?” I bend down my back to lean in closer to him and make him look at me when he’s even too weak to hold his head up.

Jamie interrupts me again by jumping on me but I shove him with one hand that makes him thrown till he hits a tree.  I shake my head at how stubborn he can be.  He should know better not to take down a vampire.  I wouldn’t worry about him though he’s a strong guy.  He is groaning in pain while trying to get up again.

“Just let me go, sister.  And I will do the same to you.” My head snaps at what Alexander says.  His voice sounds weak and desperate. “We can’t go on forever like this, hurting each other and going on the same cycle over and over again.  Let’s just stop doing this and waste our time.  You go on your own way and I’ll be on mine.”

Alexander never said that before.  Never in forever has he sounded so tired and done with everything of me.  He never gave up on me even in the worst time; he’d always chase me even to the edge of the world.  500 years, I guess a lot has happened, too much actually.  I pull out my hand of his chest slowly letting go of his heart.  He gasps and then falls on the ground right away losing consciousness.  I pull out the stakes out of his legs and leave him there.

I stop after a few steps then talk to Jamie. “Hey, Jamie.  You shouldn’t have witnessed what just happened between me and Alexander.  Listen, my brother,” I take a deep breath. “Alexander, he’s nothing like any vampire you know.  He’s different, the purest vampire out there, never wanted to shed blood of the livings.  You can trust him.  He’s all heart.  Just,” I take a pause again.  It’s hard for me to say the next word. “Please, help him for whatever he needs and stay by his side.  He can be a little sentimental and brooding.  He needs someone he can count on and I trust you with him.”

“Where are you going?” after struggling to get up, Jamie eventually gets up.

I look into his eyes, those really soft caramel eyes.  I can tell he’s in pain.  I look at the way he holds his right arm. “Are you okay?” I touch his arm. “Damn Walker, you got a broken arm. “Let me heal you with my blood.”

He takes a step back. “No.  I don’t want to depend on vampire blood to heal.  Once was enough.”

“How would you take care of the two of you if you got a broken arm?” I bite my wrist. “Just take a little.” However, he’s being persistent.

“Okay.” I look around and take a flask that was fallen out of my jacket when we fought.  I pour out the wine from it.  I bite my writs wider and fill the flask with my blood just enough to help a recovery. “Take this and give it to Alexander later.”

“I thought we’d be partner.  Are you going to walk away from this before it even started?” He snatches my hand when I push the flask on his chest.  He’s holding my hand tight.

“It was already started.  I guess we’re going to have to put this partnership on hold.  Promise me, you’ll work it out with Alexander.”

He just nods then moves closer to me like he’s about to say something or do something though he just stands there while looking at me in silence, only the rain fills in the silence.  It messes with his usual neat stylish hair.  He tilts his head to look at me in the same eyes level.  I let him take his time that he may arrange his words.  I just realize I still have a branch on my stomach when Jamie takes it out.

“Well, you were one hell of a partner, crossbow guy.” I pat his cheek and leave.

I’m surprised to find my car on the middle of the road right where I left it.  It’s a mess but this is all I get now.  I drive without thinking much of where I will go.  I need a distraction.  I’ve got enough of distress in one day, for the past week to be exact.  I haven’t had any real time to get loose.

I have tried to be in control, there’s so much freedom sacrificed, though apparently it’s not enough for Alexander.  I’m thinking that maybe that’s for the best that he lets go.  He should have done with me long time ago or never even turned himself in the first place.  He wasn’t ready and will never be ready to embrace what he is.

“Are you home?” I call Hayden. “Ah sure you are.  It’s been raining hard since this afternoon.” I’m speeding up on the road to get to Hayden place.  I’ve called off our dates many times because of how busy I got lately.  I laugh at myself at the fact that I don’t have the time to date anyone since I moved to Afton a few months ago.  The old me would think I’m insane for being this boring.

I finally arrive in front of the Ford yard.  I get out of the car even under the rain, bare feet.  Hayden opens the door before I press the bell.  He’s wearing a sweater and warm pants.

“I don’t mean to bother at late night.”

He’s shocked. “What happened to you?” he just grabs me inside and inspects every inch of me.

“I’m okay.  It’s not my blood.  My brother and I just had a hunting gone rough.” I hold his shoulder. “Can I crash in your place?” my eyes are pleading.

He looks hesitant but then nods. “Let’s get you cleaned up.” He puts his arm around my shoulder and leads me upstairs to his room.  His house is quiet.  Everyone is probably sleeping.

Hi hi hi
Tough fight huh? 😥😲
It's hard to do that to Alexander and Freya. What do you think of that goodbye now that they let go of each other?
Do you think they will patch it up again?

But we got some touching moment emotionally and psychically between Jamie and Freya. She sure trusts him that much 😟😟😟 it's one of my favorite moments of them. It shows some vulnerability honesty and trust between partners and friends.

Please tell me what you think about it all. I'd like to get some votes and comments lol

😜
