Chapter 4: The Truth?
Rose came upon the last page of the book, and gasped. The heading picture was of her, and words in shimmering golden ink was writing her actions and what was happening right now.
Herobrine was still searching the downstairs, opening one door after the other. He opened the library door, the last one in the hallway, then walked in just in time to see Rose gasp. He took one look at the book she was reading, and instantly guessed what she had gasped about. Quickly he cast a spell to make Rose fall asleep, and watched her slump forward. Leaving her in the chair, he spun on his heel and ran upstairs, calling for his brother. "Notch! We have a problem!"
Notch ran out of one of the rooms. "What?! Did Jace take her?!"
Herobrine shook his head. "No worse. She found the book! And she had been reading for hours apparently because she was on the last page, where she saw her as the new chosen one. I put her to sleep, but we need to do something."
Notch started pacing, thinking hard. "Well we really only have two options right now. We can either reset everything, rewipe her memory, and put her back at spawn OR we could tell her why she was chosen. I personally want her rewiped and sent back to spawn. That would make out job a lot easier."
Herobrine looked at him pacing back and forth in the hall. "Brother that may not be the best of ideas. We would have to tell Rose sooner or later, why not now?"
In the library Rose woke up with a start. She looked down at the book again and decided to ask Notch about it. She followed the sound of voices and stood behind the doorway, not wanting to interrupt them.
Notch stopped pacing for a moment, thinking about what was said. Then he shook his head and resumed pacing. "We have to follow the law! A pact was made at the beginning of Minecraftia, and we need to follow it."
Herobrine sighed and rubbed his temple. "And yet every so often one of the chosen dies because we stuck to the rules. And to be honest I really don't want a mopey Nacho(name by dawncloud) bothering me for the next thousand years."
Notch stopped at the mention of his nickname. He glared for a minute the sighed. "Very well. Now I suppose we need to fetch Rose to tell her."
Rose squeaked and tried to scrunch back against the wall, trying not to be seen.
Herobrine walked out in the hall and revealed Rose behind the door. "How long have you been standing there Rose?"
She came out from behind the door and looked from Notch's angry face to Herobrine's calm one. "Long enough. When did you plan on telling me exactly?" Rose replied bluntly, all traces of fear gone.
Herobrine and Notch exchanged glances with each other.
Notch nodded and spoke. "Rose you must understand, we had to do it this way. Its been done this way for longer than any mortal ca-"
Rose cut him off. "You and I both know that it was NOT always done this way. Just because of one stupid person, you decided it fitting to STEAL people's memories. Just because you are one of the gods of Minecraft, does not mean you are any smarter or wise than mortals like I."
Notch opened his mouth to respond but Herobrine cut him off. He turned to Notch and addressed him. "Notch she has a point. I even voted against punishing future chosen ones, just because one messed up. What right do we have to do this?"
Notch turned on his brother in fury. "We have the right as the creators of this world! Without us, there would be NO MINECRAFT!" With his final word he teleported away in a fury.
Herobrine looked at Rose. "Stay here." then he teleported after Notch.
Rose, left alone standing in the doorway, was shaking with anger. "Stay here? Not after that." She went back to the library and grabbed the still glowing book, tucking it under her arm. She found a bag rather quickly and headed to the kitchen to get food. She packed her bag quickly and slung it over her shoulders. Rose walked of the front door and headed back toward the pool she had first opened her eyes.
(hehehe i'm evil) Jace had been watching the house since Notch had taken her in, so when Rose walked out he followed silently, still wary of this being a trap.
When Rose reached the water she glanced around to see if she had been followed. Seeing no one, she headed into the trees and vanished from sight. Or so she thought.
Jace watched Rose vanish into the trees and lost sight of her. He parkoured to the tree tops and followed Rose once more. His lip curled up in a smirk, for he knew Rose would be his once more.
