Chapter 9
Hey guys! I'm so sorry to have disappeared for a whole month. My exams were up. I still tried to write this chapter and was halfway through it (ask Heathen_xoxo) but then I just couldn't finish it. And when my exams were over, I had a terrible writer's block. So I figured maybe if I try and write, I'll be able to overcome it. So here I am back with another update!
Dedicated to VHThompson for being an awesome friend! She's really fun to talk to and a very understanding person! I also love her books. Make sure to check 'em out.
Chapter 9
Ryan's POV
Everyone has been giving me a headache lately. Today has been so stressful, and as if that alone wasn't enough...
"If you're happy and you know it clap your hands,"
Clap-clap
"If you're happy and you know it clap your hands,"
Clap-clap
"If you're happy and you know it, then you really ought to show it,
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands."
Clap-clap
I cannot help the heavy sigh that escapes my lips.
I should've never told her. I so regret it now.
"If you're happy and you know it tap your feet,"
Stomp-stomp
"If you're happy and you know it tap your feet,"
Stomp-stomp
So now, since I don't want to have any more regrets, I'm going to go ahead and do what I have been wanting to do the entire day - kill everyone present around me. And first and foremost, Tristan.
Apparently, what Iris did today has helped him to momentarily forget his dilemma from yesterday and behave like the Tristan I know- annoying as hell. And now, I'm not really sure if I should be happy about that or not.
But I still wouldn't mind killing him. And I would have surely done it if it wasn't for the other two idiots entering the scene. Meredith and Bennett look at Tristan like he has lost his freaking mind.
Well, he actually has.
Seeing their facial expression, he pauses and removes his phone from his jeans. Tapping away on the phone screen, he shows Bennett and Meredith something. Their facial expression morphs into an unbelievable one, as they look at the screen, then up at me, and back at the phone. This goes on for some more time until they wear the same expression as Tristan.
Offering his sickly sweet smile, Bennett opens his mouth. And that's when I know it's my doom.
"If you're happy and you know it, chant hurray,"
"Hurray!" Tristan and Meredith howl loudly. And I huff out air in lethal anger.
I'm going to suck every single drop of blood out of them.
By the time night rolls in, I find myself frustrated beyond control. Why?
Apparently, dad, Uncle Seb and Aunt Cora heard about that too. Because when I show up at the dining hall for dinner, I cannot believe the voices and the sight in front of me.
"If you're happy and you know it scratch your side,
If you're happy and you know it scratch your side,
If you're happy and you know it, then you really ought to show it,
If you're happy and you know it scratch your side."
For some weird reason, the elders have chosen to join these three idiots in this, and to top it all, have come up with this newer version of the poem.
"If you're happy and you know it jump up and down,
If you're happy and you know it jump up and down,"
I mentally cringe at the lyrics. What is there to be so happy about? What I did, or rather what I was forced to do by someone, isn't even a big deal. Then why are they being impossible?
"If you're happy and you know it say ooh-ooh,"
Ooh-Ooh
"If you're happy and you know it say ooh-ooh,"
Seriously, who even came up with this stuff? And for hell's sake, Uncle Seb and Aunt Cora are the rulers of Vampire Realm, where Dad helps them too.
So they should be behaving like grown ups and NOT be getting involved with them in this childish thing!
"If you're happy and you know it do all three.
If you're happy and you know it do all three.
If you're happy and you know it, then you really ought..."
As they continue singing and doing weird stuff, I come to a strange realisation.
I realise, that, they are looking like monkeys. Literally.
And when I voice my thoughts about this, they just blatantly ignore me and go back to singing and... well, being a monkey.

The first thing I do the next day in the morning is enabling a silent mode on my phone, as my room is getting filled with the annoying beeping sounds every single second. My notification box has been blowing up. Why?
Because I made the mistake of telling someone who loves social media that I don't exactly share the same views. And that person has made me regret that decision of telling her, as she is the reason I'm feeling so annoyed right now.
Ignoring all the notifications on my phone, my fingers hesitate to click on that hellish app, but it only lasts for a second. Clicking on it, an image pops up.
An image of me and Iris.
Zooming in on her face, I notice her ever-radiant violet eyes. Staring at her face, I think about how she forced me yesterday to create an account on every social media site in my name. And when I did not cave in, she was more than happy to take the task into her own hands. I think about how she later forced me to click a selfie, and nearly after fifty tries, we captured a nice one.
But this will be one of the memorable things, a beautiful memory to carry with me my whole life. My first ever post on social media. With Iris.
Staring at our picture for one last time and thinking about how beautiful she is, I hit the back button only to stare at my profile page, with my followers having reached almost 2K. How is that possible? I just entered this world of... tardiness and Idiocracy yesterday, and I already have so many people following me. Am I that famous?
And yesterday, everyone looked so happy to know that I'm on social media now. What is there to feel happy about?
I am brought out of my train of thoughts by dad's voice invading my mind. Hearing his message, I immediately close my phone and head towards my dad's study.
It's time for getting some answers.
