with the twinkling stars

as their witness

he watches her eyes sparkle,

in awe of the celestial bodies

while his own admired her beauty

and a sad smile slips

past his lips involuntarily

as he realizes that a time may come

where he can only appreciate them

from a distance

like the stars in the horizon

wanting to reach out

but can only settle for a glance.

and so he tells her,

"those stars, for now, may shine so bright

but some of them, eventually, will lose their light."

she looks at him, sadly

and asks if they were lit,

will they come back to life?

and he looks at her,

with eyes resembling the stars

and smiled.

"when a light uses up its life source,

it can't be lit again."
