A/N: A Rex request from musntbill! I heard a song on the radio that gave me the inspiration for this one shot. The song is: Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur. Attached is the music video. Also, anything in italics (not including the A/N) is a thought!

"General, we have a problem," a trooper informed you as the floor shook

Today's mission was different than most. As it turns out, a mad pharmacist has spent years developing a gas form of the, thought to be extinct, blue shadow virus; one of the deadliest illnesses to ever strike the galaxy. Your job was to capture the pharmacist and prevent the virus from escaping the underground lab it was developed in. 

"What do you mean?" you asked through your comlink while fighting off droids. 

"A bomb has just gone off. We are not sure of its whereabouts, but it may have contained the virus!" he cried. 

As you sliced through the last droid, the virus leak alarm went off. You looked down the halls to see a blue cloud coming from the easy wing.

"Everybody! To the safe rooms! Now!" you commanded, running away from the cloud. It seemed as if no matter how fast everyone ran, the cloud was faster. Without any other options, you force shoved your battalion into the safe room and shut the door. 

"Uh General, what about us?" you heard someone ask from behind you. 

"Rex?!" you gasped after turning around, "Rex why were you behind me?"

"No time to explain! The virus is almost here!" he yelled, running towards a supply closet, "Come!".

You followed him into the closet and slammed the door shut, sighing at the sight of some of the virus getting in, "Hopefully it's not enough to kill us.". You turned off your lightsaber and clipped it your belt before taking a seat against some supply boxes. 

"Are you alright General?" he asked, kneeling next to you. His eyes focused on you like they were trying to look at your soul, making you weak inside. 

"Ye-yeah," you stuttered, "I just wish I got everyone to safety quicker. Let's face it, you or I could die today because of this." You looked up at him in desperation in your eyes. 

He sighed and put his hand on your shoulder, "I am honored that you care for me, but I was made to die, don't worry about me."

Rex's touch and words gave you chills down your spine. You became lost in your thoughts. 

I can't believe we are about to die and I still haven't confessed my love for him yet! Ugh, he's so cute and kind, why can't I do it? Come on (Y/N). Even if he rejects you, you're going to die in a while from this virus anyway. 

"Rex," you put your hand on his leg, making him sit down, "once you joined my legion, your purpose instantly changed. You are no longer one to just die. You are one to live and survive," you smile, watching the way your words impacted him. 

"Thank you Gen-"

"Call me (Y/N)," you cut him off, taking your lightsaber off your belt and tossing it in your hand a bit. You looked at your lightsaber. In a war where lightsaber means Jedi, it comes as a surprise to most that this weapon was not the main thing that made you a Jedi. It was your loyalty to follow the path of the Jedi, the rules. You knew confessing your love for Rex is against the Jedi way. Love was against the code, and love for a clone, why, that must be at code breaking level one can not even imagine. 

"(Y/N) are you okay? You look really blue," Rex told you, putting the back of his hand to your forehead, "Oh my, you're burning up!".

"I feel fine Rex," you coughed, a pain filling your lungs, making you cringe. 

"I don't think you are," Rex frowned, exhaling deeply, "Hang in there (Y/N), help will be coming soon."

"No!," you said with all the strength you had left, "If it is my fate to die, then I will do what I must!."

"You can't die! I-I-I," Rex began to stutter.

"You what?" you whimpered.

"I have s-s-so-something, uh, for you," he finished, blushing and looking away.

Your heart melted at what he just said. He has something? For me?!  "What is it Rex?" you asked, pulling his face with your fingertips to face yours. 

His eyes turned from a look of love to fear, "I don't know, it's a secret of mine," he mumbled, rubbing the back of his head. You couldn't let an opportunity like this slip. 

"We have have secrets. I have a secret too. I think you are the most astounding, perfect guy I've ever met and the feelings I have for you are much deeper than a General should have for their captain. That's my secret, your turn!" You say so fast it was almost impossible to comprehend. But once you realized what you said, you instantly regretted it, "Oh Rex, I am-"

Speechless Rex but his finger to your mouth, making you stop talking. He kept opening his mouth to say something, but words failed to come out. Finally, after a few tries, he came up with something to say, "That's how I feel about you," he whispered, causing you to instantly blush. 

Your eyes met his now blue eyes, the virus taking over his golden brown color. His hand let go of yours and slid up to your face, where he grabbed your cheek and pulled your face closer to his. Your quivering blue lips met his, which were also losing color. The virus made your body feel cold, but his kiss made it feel like an inferno. 

Slowly you two pulled away. "(Y/N), I sing," Rex whispered, his face just inches away from your face. 

"You do?" you asked, in shock of what he said. You didn't see Rex, and clones in general, being much of the singing type. 

"Yes, I do, and before we die, I want you to hear something," he said, pulling a sheet of paper out of his pocket for his blaster, "When General Skywalker introduced me to you, I fell head over heels for you and you know how I am, I try to stick to my code. So I kept my feelings for you inside, I didn't even tell Cody! Overtime, I couldn't stand not letting it out, so I wrote something for you. So before we die, uh, it's not done."

Your heart stopped. How adorable! He wrote a song...for me?! You felt like luckiest girl in the galaxy as he took a deep breath and began to sing. 

"I knew I loved you then, But you'd never know, 'Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go, I know I needed you, But I never showed, But I wanna stay with you until we're grey and old, I'm so in love with you, And I hope you know, Darling your love is more than worth its weight in gold,  And I wanna stay with you until we're grey and old. I wanna live with you, Even when we're ghosts, 'Cause you were always there for me when I needed you most, I'm gonna love you till, My lungs give out, So I wrote this song for you, now everybody knows, 'Cause now it's just you and me till we're grey and old," he sung, tears welling in his eyes, as well as yours. His voice was only comparable to heaven. 

"Again, it's not done and it's very sloppy and-"

"Rex!" you cut him off, pulling him in for a hug, "that was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard."

Rex cupped your chin and placed a short kiss on your lips, "It's just how I feel about you."

Your blushing intensified, "I like our secrets," you smiled as your kissed him again. You two laid down in the supply room, not knowing whether or not help would get to you in time, but that didn't matter. All that mattered was that you had him and he had you and that was all you both ever wanted.
