You anxiously awaited outside Echo's barracks. Luckily, you shift at the cloning facility ended just in time for you to catch Echo after his practice run for the citadel challenge with his squad. But why were you waiting for Echo? About two years ago, you and him bumped into each other while roaming the halls and it was love at first sight. 

Being in this relationship was forbidden for Echo, but for you, he was willing to risk it all. The past two years were absolutely glorious. Sneaking around with him gave you both this wonderful feeling that would wouldn't trade in for the world. Not even his squad members were aware of Echo's relationship. So, you being near his barracks at the moment was useless, but you wanted to get his attention none the less. 

The Domino Squad made their way to their barracks, dead silent. You caught a glimpse of Echo but you weren't sure he saw you. To catch his attention, you pretended to trip in front of the squad's lockers. The thud of you hitting the ground caught his attention. He rushed to your side.

"Ma'am are you okay?" he asked you, helping you off the ground as some of the other men came to help. 

"Oh, I'll be fine. Thank you trooper," you smiled, tapping his shin with your foot. You then proceeded to walk away, giving a small hand symbol with your left hand at your side. Echo noticed this. The hand symbol was your way of silently telling each other, that you want to spend the night together. 

You made you way to the room you were given on Kamino. It was a simple apartment in Tipoca City at the Clone Production Facility, but to was home, and included in your salary. It was expected that Echo would be a while, since he had to wait for his squad to be asleep before he came over, so you lit some candles and redid your makeup, making sure everything was perfect for him. 

"Hey there!" he smiled, leaning against the door frame of your bed room. 

You jumped, startled by him suddenly being there. You keep forgetting to gave him to the code to get in. "You need to give me a heads up next time!" you playfully yelled, rushing into his arms.

"Perhaps," he mumbled, bringing your embrace to the bed, "how was your day?"

You sighed, "Same old, same old. We are working on an injection to give that will return the rate of aging back to normal!"

"Well that's new!" he exclaimed, "and it sounds awesome. This means when you're still young and beautiful, I won't be old and gross!"

You playfully slapped his shoulder, "Echo! You could never be old and gross in my eyes."

"Really?" he smiled, pulling you in tighter. 

"Of course!" you laughed, "now, tell me about your day! You had your final citadel run! How did it go?" 

Echo's whole body got noticeably cooler, and he went from his typical fun self, to someone who looked devastated. 

"Echo, love?"

"We didn't make it this time," he sighed, avoiding eye contact with you. "They shut down the simulation before we could even finish. It's moment's like these I feel defective, incapable of being the strong man you and everyone else think I will be. We failed the final test. They are giving us another shot tomorrow, but I'm so worried."

You heart broke a little with the disappointment you felt in his words,"Echo, you are beyond everything I could ever wish you to be! I know you have got this! As an individual, you and every member of the Domino Squad are phenomenal, it's the teamwork that needs some work. I sometimes sneak out of the lab to watch your practice runs when I can. Trust me, I know you're amazing."

"You really think so?" he smiled from the corner of his mouth, regaining eye contact with you.

You leaned in and kissed his cheek, "I know so."

"And that's why I love you," he laughed, bear hugging you, then becoming the big spoon. "But tomorrow is a big day, I gotta rest up. Though I'd love to spend every second of the night talking to my gorgeous girlfriend."

"You're such a flirt," you mumbled, giving him a kiss before falling asleep. 

When you woke up the next morning for your shift, Echo had already left. You were working a later shift, so you expected this to be the case. You got ready for work then went to your kitchen for a small bite to eat before you go the day started. On your counter there was a note from Echo.

"Thank you for the cuddles last night. Absolutely what I needed to get over the worries of today. See you back at your place tonight. Xoxo, Echo"

After reading the note, you placed it back down on the counter asking yourself how you got so lucky.

This was probably the slowest shift of your life. By now, Echo knows whether he passed to failed, but you had to wait a while nine hours until you could even think about seeing him. You rushed your work as fast, but still with effort, and managed to get off a little earlier than expected. As soon as your clocked out, you ran to your apartment, knowing that it was just one step closer to seeing Echo. 

You opened your door and Echo was sitting on your couch. 

"Echo!" you screamed, running into his arms, "So?!"

"I'm going to be a trooper!" he cheered, spinning you around.

You grabbed both his hands and gave him a long kiss, "I'm so proud of you."

Echo's beaming smile began to fade, "you know what this mean though, right?"

You bit your lower lip and looked down at your feet, "Yes, but I don't want to hear it."

"(Y/N), this isn't goodbye. We're going to be together forever! Remember!" he exclaimed, rolling hip his sleeve to reveal your initials tattooed on his forearm. 

"Together forever," you smiled back, looking at "Echo" tattooed to your forearm. 

Echo informed you that he was leaving the following day, and that's when the tears began to flow. He wiped away every last one, kissing your cheek immediately after, "Don't worry about me love. I'm fighting for our future, our kids, our grandkids. We will have a happily ever after. I promise."

His words filled your heart, confirming that he truly is the one for you. "I'm just going to miss you," you sighed, shaking your head slightly. 

"I'm going to miss you too (Y/N). But I will always be over your heart," he said, clasping a necklace around your neck.

You looked at the necklace he just put on you, "Echo!", you gasped, "it's beautiful!"

"Just like you," he smiled, kissing your forehead, "This is the stone from the middle of my graduation medal. It falls right over you heart, so you'll always have me here."

"Echo!" you sobbed, hugging him tighter than ever before. 

"I love you (Y/N). Forever and always."

Echo spend his last night on Kamino with you, giving you the cuddles you have come to love oh so much. There was no need to think about the next day as right now, it was just you and him. You were going to miss moments like this, but you knew that you had the most amazing guy in the galaxy fighting for you.
