Chapter Seven

The targets house was only ten minutes away from Dominic's house, so the drive went by quickly. The house Dominic parked at the end of the road.

"Brant, do any of the neighbors or streets have cameras?" I asked as I unmuted my earpiece.

"Nope. You're all good."

 "Perfect."

"Ready Bay?" I nodded then got out of the car, went up to the door, and knocked.

"Hi, is your mother here? We really need to speak to her." Thomas had answered the door.

"Mom! Someone's at the door for you!"

"I'll be right there." The mom hollered from upstairs.

"You guys can wait in the living room."

"Thanks!" I said as I walked in with Dominic following close behind me.

"So what do you guys need?" Thomas asked curiously. I was about to give him some BS answer when his mom came down the stairs.

"Thomas, why are there strangers in our Liv- " I pulled out my gun and shot the mom in the head as Dominic did the same to her son. Too easy.

"Hey, guys! The other son is home!" Brent's voice came booming over the earpiece.

"Crap." I said, Dominic immediately turned on his earpiece as well.

"Looks like he has a friend with him. You guys have got to get out of there!" I grabbed Dominic's hands and ran toward the back door.

"It's locked. It needs a key!" Dominic cursed under his breath, then ran over to the door and hid behind it while I ducked behind the kitchen counter. As soon as the two boys came in, Dominic pulled his gun out and hit one of the kids in the back of the head while he grabbed the other one and covered his eyes. Then he hit the second kid upside the head with the butt of his gun as well, and they both fell to the ground unconscious.

"Good idea." I said as I got up from behind the counter.

"I know." He said with a huge grin on his face.

"Want to blow this Popsicle stand?" Dominic asked once he used his burner phone to snap a picture of the Dead bodies. Usually, when we killed someone in their own home, we would burn it down, to get rid of all of the evidence, or make it harder to find.

"What about the boys?"

"Burn them too."

"No."

"That's what I figured."

"How about we kidnap them." I suggested.

"Then we can burn the house."

"Yes Dom, then we can burn the house down."

"Perfect"

"I know."

"I'll get the car, so we don't have to carry them so far."

"Okay I'll go get the explosion set up. Tell me ignotted then headed out the door to pull the car around. As soon as he walked out I went to their garage and found some gasoline. Then I brought it with me and doused the bodies with the gas, while avoiding the blood on the floor. Then I poured the remaining gasoline on their couch.

"Okay, the car is ready." Dominic said as he walked in, I nodded.

"Brant any upcoming traffic?"

"Kay thanks." Then I muted my earpiece, grabbed one of the kids, and dragged him to Dominic's car. The trunk was already open, so I dropped him in the back and duct taped his hands and feet together. Dominic did the same to the other kid. Once we were done we shut the truck, then Dominic went inside and set the remaining bodies on fire.

"Done!" He said cheerily as he got in the car and drove off.

"God, I've never seen someone so excited about killing people!"

"That's who I am, Bay. I'm a killer."

"So am I, but it doesn't make me happy to kill innocent people."

"Because you still care. I stopped caring a long time ago."

"So you want to care if something happened to Nico, Chelsea, your Mom, or me?"

"I would." He said after a moment of thought.

"Then you do care."

"Yeah, I guess. What I meant to say is I have lost all compassion toward humanity besides a few select people. That's why I'm a better assassin than you, nothing stops me from getting the job done. I don't care whether or not they have done something, I don't hesitate or dwell on it, I just do it."

"So you could kill one of Jeremy's siblings and want to think twice about it?"

"Yes. I'm a bad person Bailey, I shut my emotions off, I don't feel. It's just who I am."

"I know. That's okay with me though."

"But it shouldn't be bailey! You should absolutely hate me, and I shouldn't give a crap about you or anyone else!" He yelled as he slammed his hands down on the steering wheel.

"Why is caring such a bad thing?"

"Because one of these days all of this is going to catch up to me and I don't want anyone I love to get hurt or be targeted because I couldn't control how I felt."

"That may be so, you don't think I haven't thought of that! But if you don't, there's no point in living."

"But could you handle it, if the people you love got hurt, because you wanted to have a point in life."

"No, it would tear me apart, but I would also be hurting them if I left."

"Yup, but they would just be hurt and not dead."

"What about the people who choose to stay because even though you are screwed up and might get them killed? Don't they have the right to decide that for themselves?"

"They may have a right to it, but it doesn't mean they won't make the right choice. Feelings cloud people's judgment, but that doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day that person won't be there because of something I did or didn't do." We pulled up to Dominic's house.

"I called the agency when I was getting the car, someone will be here shortly to pick them up." Dominic said quietly as he got out of the car that was now in his garage, he went inside and I followed him in.

"So if your solution is to not care, then why didn't you?"

"I can't! You don't think that I don't try to? You don't think I've tried bailey? I can't not care! I hate it, I hate it so much but every time I se- every time I see you I can't not care!" He yelled as he slammed his fist into the wall above me.

"Well stop trying to fight it Dominic!"

"Yeah, and what if that gets you killed?"

"Then I die! But at least I would have a reason not to want to and vice versa."

"Caring makes you weak."

"It makes you human Dominic." Then I turned and left the agent who had been banking on the door inside.

"Agent 580158 you're here." Spat a middle-aged woman who had a scar across her neck.

"They're in the garage." I said as I motioned to the garage. She huffed, then got in her car and pulled into the garage to load up the kids.

"Can you do me a favor?" Dominic asked, I nodded.

"Don't change."

"No promises." I said as I pulled him close and crashed his lips onto mine. He immediately returned the kiss, and brought one hand up to my neck and the other he snaked around my waist, then pulled me into him, so our bodies were touching. I found my hands around and found his belt, then started to unbuckle it. When it came undone he broke the kiss and swiftly took off my shirt, then crashed his lips back on mine.

*******

"I should probably go home now." I said as I started to get up, but Dominic grabbed my arm and pulled me back to his chest, while shaking his head. I sighed but it's not good against him, he grabbed my hand and interlaced our fingers.

"Do you want kids?" Dominic asked suddenly.

"I don't know. I do but I don't want them to be anything like me. What makes you ask that?"

"I don't know." I nodded.

"Do you?"

"No. I don't want them to be anything like me either. Besides, our business doesn't necessarily make it easy."

"What if you got out?"

"Even if I did want to, they would find me and kill me." I just nodded, I knew as well as he did that if we got out they would just kill us.

"I should go. I said after a minute of silence, he nodded and got up as well. So I went and picked up my clothes that were scattered throughout Dominic's house and put the mom will Dominick the same. Then I picked up my phone and dialed Jeremy.

"Hey, are you picking up the kids or am I?" I asked when he answered.

"I called to talk to Lillian and she asked if they could stay over, and I obviously didn't mind."

"Okay. That's all I wanted to know." Then I hung up.

"What's the verdict?" Dominic asked when I put my phone into the waistband of my pants.

"They're having a sleepover at your Mom's house." He nodded.

"Have anything going on tonight?" Dominic asked, I shook my head.

"Kay, mind if I stay over then?"

"Not at all, in fact I encourage it." A smile tugged at his lips.

"Whose car are we taking?" I asked.

"Mine."

"He had three vehicles, a black suv, a Bugatti diva and a black Audi R8 V10. I had an Audi R8 V10 as well.

"You pick."

"Suv. I don't want Damon to ask too many questions."

"You have an Audi, I think that might raise some questions."

"Good point. He chuckled then grabbed his keys, I started to walk to the garage and he followed. We rode in a comfortable silence until we got to my house. When we pulled up I saw that there were multiple cars in the driveway that I didn't recognize.

"What the fu-" Dominic started but I didn't let him finish and got out of the car to see what was going on. When I got up to the porch I could hear laughter coming from inside. He was so dead! Angrily I burst through the door, I saw about 20 people scattered throughout the living room and kitchen. It seemed that every popular person from our school was there. Everyone was just standing around looking at Damon, who's doing a body shop off of this girl I recognized, Sara. She was your cliche, blonde, rich, barbie, cheerleader. To say we didn't get along with an understatement.

"What is she doing here!? I thought this was supposed to be a fun party." She snarled.

"You have 30 seconds to get out of my house, before I drag you out." I said angrily to everybody, completely ignoring sara.

"You guys don't have to leave, I live here too now, remember?" Damon snapped back.

"Fine, you can stay. I'm just not sure you're going to want to. Dominic just chuckled. I skipped upstairs to let Sniper out of my room. When I got up to my room, Sniper was waiting eagerly at the door.

"Come boy. Let's go!" Then I went downstairs. I walked into the living room to see Dominic making out with one of Sara's friends. Sara was smirking at me, as if Dominic had just cheated on me.

"Awww, well would you look at that! Bailey's boyfriend finally realized he doesn't want her!" Sara mocked.

"Babe! How could you do this to me!" I screeched, Dominic rolled his eyes but decided to play along.

"I-I can explain!" He said as he jumped back. Dominic had put on a scared face, but he did so bad, that I burst out laughing. Everyone else just looked so confused.

"They aren't dating you idiots!" Damon snapped.

"So here's the deal, unless you want to be torn to pieces I suggest you get out of my house. I mean you are welcome to stay but then this will be the last place you see." With that I signaled to Sniper, who was beside me, to scare them off, he was already growling, so I just told him to jump on them. Sniper immediately started barking and running towards all of the unwanted guests. Every last one of them took off running out the door, leaving me, Damon, and Dominic.

"What makes you think you can just have a party here?" I spat Damon once I had signaled for Sniper to calm down and stop.

"Well what makes you think you can let him come here? You seem to keep forgetting that I live here too."

"You're funny, you know that? You only get to stay here, if I allow it."

"Whatever, but I don't think your dad would like that very much."

"You don't know her very well if you think she won't." Dominic chimed in.

"She won't"

"Well, she isn't going to have to." Dominic walked over to him, grabbed the back of his neck, and started to drag him towards the door. Damon tried to unlatch Dominic's hand from his neck but there was no point. Damon suddenly tried to throw a punch at Dominic's face but he caught it with his free hand then continued to push Damon out the front door.

"You can't kick me out of my own house! How do you think the cops respond to that?" Damon threatened.

"Yeah, and how do you think the cops will respond to what happened with your buddies today? Then of course your mom would find out and then what about your BAC? Well Bailey hasn't been drinking and I can, so who really has the most to lose right now?" Dominic said evenly.

"Okay okay, I get the point!" Damon said when Dominic opened the front door.

"I don't think you do." Dominic said as he pushed Damon out of the house and closed the front door. Chuckling, Dominic went to the back door and the gym/dining room and locked it.

"It's raining Dom." I said while rolling my eyes.

"Good. Maybe it will teach him a lesson." He said while coming over and packing me on the lips. We turned around and watched a yelling Damon try to open all the windows and doors that we had just locked.

"So, what's for dinner?" Dominic asked.

"Whatever you make." I said as I jabbed him playfully in the side.

"How about tacos?"

"Sounds good." Ring. Ring. Ring. Rin-

"What?" I snapped when I saw that Damon was the one calling.

"It's freezing out here! Let me in." Damon yelled to the other end of the line.

"No." Then I hung up, and 10 seconds later my phone started ringing again. Sighing, I answered.

"Fine! May I please come back into your house?" He asked through what seemed like a clenched jaw.

"Hmmm, I don't know if I want to." I replied in a contemplating voice.

"Come on Bailey!"

"Fine. I'll allow you to come back into MY house." Laughing, I rolled my eyes and walked over to unlock the door.

"He is going to make the floor wet." Dominic said in a you should leave him outside voice.

"I know. That's why I didn't, you know, put him outside in the rain." Dominic just rolled his eyes. As soon as I unlocked the door, Damon barged in,

he just scowled then stomped upstairs.

"Ughhh! Why did I have to get stuck with him!"

"Karma." Dominic said sarcastically while smacking the back of my head. I just rolled my eyes.

"Oh, the case you have left, there is a slight change of plans."

"Yeah?" I asked.

"They are moving him to a different corrections facility, so you can eliminate him when they do the transfer."

"Oh perfect, when is that taking place?"

"In three days."

"Okay, let me go grab the file from the safe so I can make the necessary changes to it." Dominic nodded, then I ran upstairs, opened the safe, and grabbed the file. As I walked past Damon's room I heard voices. Is he talking to himself? I was going to just continue walking but my curiosity got the best of me. I should probably knock. Nah. I shrugged my shoulders, then opened the door and walked in. The inside of Damon's room had previously been there with the exception of a mattress and a bed frame. It was now made and had a medium weight, navy blue comforter on it with matching pillowcases, the walls were covered with posters of electric guitars, guns, and girls in little to no clothing. Classy. He had three guitars in the corner, two acoustics and one electric, when I fully stepped in I saw that he also had two more electric guitars and the other corner of the room. He also had a desk which apparently Laurel and my dad had moved into his room when we were at school. The desk had a black laptop on it as well as a hunting rifle. Damon was sitting at his computer and as soon as he saw me he immediately slammed his laptop and turned towards me, his face was pale. What is he hiding? I'll have to check that out later.

"Haven't you ever heard of knocking!" Damon snapped.

"Barging is a lot more fun." He scoffed.

"Well? What do you want?"

"Dinner will be soon, in about an hour." I said when I saw that his radio was on, and that was what the voices were.

"I'm not hungry."

"Not my problem. That's when dinner is, come then or not, I really don't care." Then I turned, walked out, and shut the door behind me. Sighing, I trudged downstairs and slapped the file on the bar. Then went to grab a pencil and an extra piece of paper.

"Okay, what are the details?" I asked once I had sat down what I needed.

"How about I just write it down for you."

"Even better." Dominic took the pen out and started writing my new directions for the hit. When he was done he slid the paper towards me, it read:

Prisoner transport leaves from the Charleston correctional facility at 7:00 a.m. on Friday the 17th (of this month) then they have a 3-hour drive to Omaha county prison, intercept between these two destinations. Coms necessary (obviously) the IT guy is agent 3520. there is only going to be one prisoner other than the Target and they only have two guards. The driver and a passenger.

"Seems easy enough," I said once I finished reading it.

"Yeah, have you decided on a partner yet?"

"Yeah, Jeremy is tagging along." Dominic scoffed.

"He is a good agent Dom."

"He is subpar compared to me and you."

"Those kids need the money."

"They aren't your responsibility."

"I know, but I can't help it."

"I know you can't."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"It means that you are a far better person than I am, just don't let that kill you Bay." I opened my mouth to say something but decided against it. Instead I just said, then went over and hugged Dominic.

"I don't get you Dominic."

"That's probably a good thing." Dominic sighed and hugged me tighter. After about a minute he reluctantly let go.

"I should probably start making dinner." He said.

"Okay, I'll help."

"Who said I wanted your help?" He asked playfully.

"Fine, I won't help. I'll just go watch TV or something."

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" He grabbed me around the waist and pulled me back into the kitchen. I smiled then started "helping" Dominic make dinner. It would have usually taken him a lot less time if I hadn't been attempting to help him, but I was, so it took us about 45 minutes to make, when it should have taken half of that.

"I'm going to go put the file back really quick." I said to Dominic has to grab the folder.

"Look who decided he's hungry.' I said sarcastically when I saw Damon coming downstairs at the same time I was coming up.

"Apparently so." He slammed his elbow into mine as we passed, but I ignored it. Hey, now I can see what he was being so secretive about. I went to my room and opened the safe, while I had it open I pulled out a flash drive. Then I shut everything up and snuck over to Damon's room. I immediately went over to his laptop and as I suspected it had a password. Hopefully he stays downstairs. I pulled the flash drive out of my pocket and plugged it into the USB port on his laptop. The flash drive was programmed to take down firewalls and decode passwords. The agency didn't give them to agents because of the risk of them being hacked themselves, but Dominic I had given me this, the agency disapproved but they were way too scared to tell him that. It was only about 10 seconds before the flash drive had unscrambled his passcode which was 12354. Idiot.

Another thing that was nice about this flash drive was that it accessed all of the computers past data, so if I knew around what time it was when he did that on his screen, which I did, although I didn't need to do that, because that was the only thing he had done on it. It was an online chat group, and there was only one message, it came from an unknown number, it read:

Herd u got some new family I recomend that u giv me my money fast and for what u did to my guys I am bumpin up it price two 10 grand i ned it in for days or I will hav to find ur new family and pay them a not so nice visit and i don't think u want that bring me the money the same place as befor

Sighing, I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of the message, then I turned everything back the way I had found it, put the flash drive in my pocket, then went downstairs to go eat. Dominic and Damon were clearing at each other when I got downstairs.

"What did I miss?" Ughhh, I can't stand Damon.

"Nothing." Dominic replied snappily at me.

"Whatever. I snapped back, we ate in silence, Damon was done first, he got up and went to the sink and washed his plate by hand, then put it back in the cabinet that it had come from. Then he stormed upstairs and slammed the door.

"What's his problem?" I asked.

"What isn't his problem?"  I just sighed after a minute. We were both done eating, so we silently got up, put away the food and did the dishes.

"So. What do you want to do?" I asked Dominic once we had put away the last dish.

"Want to go to a bar or something?"

"Yeah, that's fine. Any place in particular?"

"Depends. Bar or club?"

"Whichever one that would be the easiest for me to get into."

"How about Bang!?" Dominic asked with a teasing smile.

"Isn't it closed? I mean it did just get shut up by some idiot?" I replied with as much sarcasm as I could manage, which was a lot.

"No, it isn't!"

 "Really?"

"Yeah, they just opened this location, which pretty much bankrupted them, so they can't afford to lose anymore."

"And how do you know all that?" I asked genuinely curious unto how he  came up with that information.

"Braxton's expensive background check."

"That makes sense." Duh.

"He will be good at the job."

"You think so?"

"Yeah. Because I have a problem with killing people."

"That's different though. Wait, how did you know?"

"The gym is crawling with cameras Bay."

"Yeah, I forgot about that."

"You good? You seem off."

"Yeah, I'm good."

"You sure?"

"I'm sure Dominic." I lied.

"Okay." He said when he saw I did not want to talk about it.

"Regardless of whether or not it is open, I still can't risk going back there, someone might recognize me."

"Nah. It'll be good, worst case scenario we have to pop someone."

"Dom, it's not happening! That is so stupid! I hope you aren't serious!"

"Come on! It'll be fun"

"Absolutely not!"

"Yes, we're going!" I laughed.

"You've got to be kidding me!" I practically yelled when he didn't smile back and remained serious.

"Ughhh, come on Bay! It will be so much more fun!"

"I need a ride." Damon yelled is he stormed down the stairs.

"Good to know." Dominic replied, then he turned his back to Damon.

"Fine. I guess I'll just stay here and bother you!" Damon said smugly while he plopped down on the couch.

"Where do you want to go?" I asked quickly.

"Jenna's" I immediately rolled my eyes. Jenna was high school's biggest slut right up there with Sara, she was spoiled and threw a party at least once a week during the school year and almost daily in the summer. Jenna's parents were never home and when they were, they would just go out for dinner when she hosted her parties.

"Okay, we will just go to that." Dominic said for me. I hated going to high school parties but it was better than going to Bang!

"Give me a minute to change." I replied then I went upstairs. I put on a black mini skirt and strapped a knife onto my inner thigh, I changed out of my sports bra and put on a black matching, plunging, v-necked, crop top. I strapped another knife and the knee-high boots I put on and called it good, then headed downstairs.

"He's outside." Damon grumbled as I came down the stairs, I nodded then went outside with Damon falling behind me. I rode shotgun and made him sit in the backseat, he didn't say anything about it, he just put his headphones in.

"I'll text you when we are leaving, I'll give you 5 minutes to get to the car or we're leaving without you." I told Damon once we had arrived. It was only 15 minutes away. Jenna's house was a mansion, they lived in the rich snobby part of this town, there was no other house for at least a few miles. A golf course was their backyard. Damon didn't say anything, he just nodded then got out and went inside. There were easily 30 people out on the porch and when you got inside, there were five times as many.

"Where's the kitchen?" Dominic asked, I grabbed his hand and pushed past the crowd as I led him to the kitchen. There were lines of alcohol in the kitchen island, they also had a wet bar off the kitchen where, Drake, played the bartender with one of the jocks.

"Drake!"

"Hey Bailey! The usual?" I nodded.

"Who's he?" Dominic asked once he got back from grabbing his drink from the kitchen.

"An old friend from middle school, he moved schools for high school because of all the bullying. He comes to these though, he's usually with me and Nico, so they leave him alone." Dominic nodded.

"Who's your friend?_ Drake asked when he saw Dominic's hand snakes around my stomach.

"He is a friend of Nico and mine. Dominic, this is Drake. Drake, this is Dominic." I replied well looking between the two as I introduced them.

"Nice to meet you." Drake said as he extended his hand out to Dominic, he shook it but didn't say anything.

"Is Nico here?" I asked Drake.

"Yeah, I saw him earlier, he said he invited you to come along but you weren't answering your phone."

"Oh, I had it on silent, my bad."

"Well, at least you're here now!"

"Yeah, it all worked out, I guess I better go find Nico!"

"M-kay see you around!" With that I grabbed my vodka martini and went to go get Nico.

"Do you see him?" Dominic yelled over the music after a minute of searching for Nico, I just shook my head.

"I'll text him." I yelled at Dominic after another minute, we waited 2 minutes, but got no answer.

"Let's put up." Dominic said in a normal voice, because the songs were in between switching.

"Good idea." We turn to go look for Nico but then Nico hollered from across the room,

"Bailey! Dominic! Wait up!"

"Hey!" I chirped  happily.

"You got my text!"

"Nope, actually didn't. Dominic and Damon wanted to go."

"Well, at least you're here!" I nodded.

"Awww look who showed up." Sara said smugly from behind me.

"You again." I sighed.

"You don't have your little doggy to hide behind this time."

"Let's just go." Nico suggested quickly.

"Yeah, she isn't worth my time." Then we turned and left Sara standing there.
