Bellspe Officer Traning.

The name rings in my mind as a distinct memory. Where have I heard that before?

The knowledge slams me in my face. Of course, I have heard of it. Thane blabbers about it on a daily basis, it is the best academy in Athesy, the best ones with huge placements and packages.

Thane talks about it all the time, he wants to be an officer, and Bellspe is a golden opportunity that he wants to grab.

And that makes me question, why is an officer trained from such a prestigious academy posted in Urydale, a town with zero identity.

Things just don't add up. Why does an officer need to carry a gun, especially the one who had taken training from Bellspe?

There is only one person who can confirm my doubts, I pull out my phone and scroll down to Kayden's number, this is not something I can just google but something a lawyer can get his hands on. He must be in his office now so all the more convenient.

The phone rings a few seconds before Kayden picks up.

"You have decided to call me after three days? Even Skye had the decency to fill me in." That was the first thing Kayden said and I wince at the mistake, he is not letting it on but I know that he was worried. I haven't talked to anyone at home, I couldn't bring myself to after who I found here.

" I am sorry I have been busy" I spoke in a small voice.

" Busy day and night" Kayden taunted with disappointment. I swallowed. I am sure Skye had him know everything about the night club. I have been busy breaking the law at night and worrying about it in the day.

" How is everyone," I asked in a small voice, I haven't even talked to mom or Ash and I regret not calling them before.

" Good, what about you" Kayden exhaled with a question.

" I- "I found our Nanu, he is alive and I am with him. I am sorry I am a coward and I can't handle seeing you all going through the same emotions I went through so I didn't tell you this before. And tell mom too, that Nanu is alive.

That is what I actually wanted to say but I swallowed it in " I found something and I need you to cross-check it. Did Skye fill you in on everything?" I asked just to confirm.

" Yes, mostly everything"

" Kayden the officers here carry a gun, a real gun" I whispered to him, checking the corridors to make sure it is empty as I curve my other hand on my mouth. " What do they need a gun for, especially an officer trained from Bellspe?"

" Hmm, this doesn't add up. Surely the gun is not for his protection? And who is that officer do you have a name?" Kayden asked.

" Yes Kay Alzen, age 26. Can you check it out? I have a-" I didn't hear him, I was so stupidly engrossed but I saw him walking to me, I stopped mid-sentence as my breath caught in my throat, dread creeping up my spine as I took in his smirk.

I took in a short breath, " I no, I want a cupcake Stary, chocolate and mint" I shakily spoke the only thing that came to my mind and casually placed a hand on the window sill. I hope it came out as casually and not tense in fear that he heard me saying.

Kayden remained silent on his end but he knew something is up. I laughed lightly, trying to keep the tension out of my voice. He walked closer and I watched out of the corner of my eyes as the distance shortened between us.

" Noo what are you talking about" I gave a short laugh after that.

" Ariel is Skye there, did you come with him?" Kayden asked holding his breath, his voice low and measured, as if consoling a scared child.

"I will call you later, bye" I spoke cheerfully and ended the call with a smile.

Act casual Ariel. Act casual.

" This is not a tourist place" Kay called out behind me.

I turned around to face him only to take a step back, he is standing too close for my liking. Too close for it to be considered okay.

I clenched my jaw from cursing him and instead balled my fists, nails digging in my palm keeping me to lash out at the invasion of my personal space.

" I know" I would have given him a better explanation if he were someone else, an actual officer with a moral and respect for personal space. I saw his eye twitch at my vague reply, either he thinks too highly of himself or he was expecting me to submit and obediently give him an answer.

" So why are you here Ariel" he spit out my name, " and where is your boyfriend? Doesn't exist?" His smirk washed off into a sneer, but I didn't blink. I already knew that when he called me a tourist, he knows I am here for a couple of days only.

He took a step forward, almost touching my toes. I remained planted on my space, clenching my fist as the urge to punch him grew in folds with his every lingering look.

" None of your business," I spit out in return as I tried to swallow the ghost of fear with anger. I glared up at him, the difference in height forcing me to feel small again. This won't get to me, people like him, stupid low lives won't corner me, never again.

My reply seems to short circuit his temper as he growled in warning, " You will answer what I ask of you" He clutched my arm in a bruising grip, fingers curling tighter as his anger flared at my defiance.

My fists trembled and I tried to hold my colors back as wine red-coated my palm. One more second and I will surely send a dagger his way, I don't even care if attacking an officer can have consequences. Instead I glared at him, hoping my eyes can burn him.

"I suggest you let me go officer, as far as I remember we don't do things this way in Athesy" I spoke lowly, pressing on each word to make my threat reach across his thick skull. I waited a second for my warning to set in before yanking my hand away. He didn't let my hand go easily and I felt the strain of the pull in my shoulder.

He didn't move away so I sidestepped him and started to walk away. I counted the steps mentally, as I strained my ears to listen to any sound behind me. Is he going to pull out the gun?

" You have messed with the wrong person bitch" he called out behind me and I flattered in my steps, fearing for a gun to be placed against my head. But nothing happened and I turned the corner with measured breaths.

Once I was out of his sight I didn't need to be told twice before I increased my pace while remaining silent on my feet. I ran for the staff room.

As the familiar room came closer I burst into it like a mouse.

He had a gun. A real gun that can blow my head off with a single shot.

Suddenly the unspoken threat felt real and the stakes higher. I want to return to my family in one piece.

I took a seat on one of the chairs, taking a deep breath. My shoulder vibrated with pain that quickly started spreading down my arm. Red marks tainted my pale skin where he had grabbed me and I sighed, closing my eyes to block out the memories.

At that moment my phone ringed. I pulled it out of my pocket and swiped right to pickup Kayden's call.

I took deep breaths to steady my heartbeat before bringing the phone to my ear.

" Ariel?"

"Am, ya"

" What happened, who was there?" He asked voice laced with worry.

" Nothing just the said officer" I replied, trying to not sound as shaken as I felt.

" Are you alright and why are you not there with Skye?" Kayden asked sternly and I gulped, I was hoping he won't cross-check with Skye but who am I kidding he is a lawyer.

" Skye is not allowed to come here but did you find anything?" I asked in a rushed tone hoping he won't ask more cause I am not ready to break the news on the phone.

" How am I supposed to do that when my sister is at some school crawling with officers with a freaking gun Ariel" Kayden almost yelled but controlled himself. Tears welled up at my eyes, I don't need this now Kayden. I wanted to say that but I can't be a crying mess here. Most importantly I am stronger than that, I am no damsel in distress and I can handle things myself.

" Ok just wait a minute I will send you the pics" I said with a breath and changed the topic.

" Ariel" Kayden spoke, voice as stern as Dad's.

" Kayden please" I mimicked him in a request.

" Fine the faster I get this done the sooner you are coming home" Kayden grumbled in the phone finally letting the subject drop.

I stood up and walked to Nanu's office, I pushed open the door and stepped in. Nanu is still on the computer with papers strewn on the desk around him.

" I will send you the pics. Take care and love you" I spoke on the phone and after receiving his bye I ended the call. By now Nanu's concentration had diverted to me.

His eyes softened with longing, his shoulders curving down. " Was it" he hesitated, casting his eyes downward and to his paperwork. This looks so similar to when Kayden works in his office, papers, and documents spread around as he studies them with meticulous eyes.

I nod at him and look away, I can't bear to meet the longing in his eyes because I won't be able to give him a solution.

" I need to take the pictures of those bio Nanu," I told him after a thick silence. He nodded at me and proceeded to type on the computer.

I inched closer to his desk and stood beside him. Kay's photo flashed on the screen along with his credentials.
