Hector woke with a start he knew his father was staring at him, his blank eyes searching him for an answer. "Father what do you want?" Hector asked.
"What?" He said "Sorry I couldn't sleep, how are you?"
"I'm fine dad, now was it the dream?"
His father shrunk inside his skin. "Yes, it was."
Hector shuffled beside his father, who grew frailer by the day. "Next moon you will be moving to the Wise Ones den(aka the elders den ;)) father , are you okay with that, I mean you have been our leader for more than I can remember."
His fathers eyes welled up with tears as he smiled "Son you know I will not make it long enough to move to the wise ones den," his tears slid down his cheek fur, "After your mother died and I became leader..." he died off the words seeming to become to unbearable then he continued "I focused only in protecting my Region, then you grew up so fast...'
"I know father, I know. You don't have to explain it. I miss her too." Hector said his voice cracking.

Hector walked his border patrol around the Region.
Suddenly, out of the corner if Hector's eye a bush quivered and an unwelcoming stench hit his nose.
