22- Different

Yeyeyeye to Krusie, I'm deep into the fandom and I don't even know.

And that drawing is just something random I drew and I think it's good, I guess?

I'm so sorry about this chapter, after re-reading it I cringed so hard. Please bear with me >_<

••••••••••

School...

Why did everything have to go back to normal?

Swarming like flies, those thoughts kept nagging her as the drive to school went on. She didn't like school one bit.

But everything wasn't normal, everything was...

Different.

She finally had a home. A family that was willing to love her and care for her. And a friend who was willing to listen to her.

She still could not believe she was saying Kris, the brunet who she had called dork in awful number times, a friend. But after what she did last night, she was starting to feel different, strange. Like, somehow, the word 'friend' was not enough, satisfying at the very least, but not filling.

'I like you too, Dork.' She remembered herself say.

She burried her face into her palms and growled at the intense heating of her face.

Kris faced her blank, being next to her afterall, "Susie, Are you-"

"I'm fine. I'm fine." She waved off, "I'm fine."

Kris furrowed his brows. What was wrong with her today? No, he shouldn't burdened her with that question.

Toriel glanced at the two and sighed quietly. The whole morning, the pair had been acting odd. Susie was a growling and blushing mess, and stuttered often. Kris was a bit cold and distant, shadows casted over his eyes.

Oh, how Toriel missed Kris' crimson eyes, how they used to sparkle with delight. But ever since the bullying had started, he hid them away from everyone's view.

She remembered what great imagination he had. What stories he told after he had played with his brother.

She glanced behind her and thought.

'Things are different now, I suppose.'

~~~~~~~
"C-class! Settle d-down!" Alphys slammed the desk meekly.
The noise simmered down as they heard Ms. Alphys. Sitting up straight, everyone listened to her.
Susie's gaze lingered to Kris, she blushed. Looking at him made her frustrated yet oddly satisfied. So, she tore off her gaze and focused on something else.
The chalk.
'Look at the chalk. Look at the chalk.'
Kris' head was down, he gaze dull and lifeless. Like when he had tore his chest open, but that was not the case.
It was different.
With shaky hands, Ms. Alphys turned to the board with chalk in hand and finished writing.
"This f-formula is u-used to d-determine how m-much electricity i-is used. Now by-" Ms. Alphys was cut off by the sound of the bell ringing to life, indicating that it was lunch time.
Ms. Alphys sighed as the students rushed out. She gave a small smile to Susie and Kris then waddled off to the faculty room.
Berdly took his leave calmly and stared at the dull Kris, "What the heck is your problem?" Berdly scowled.
Kris looked up and looked down after, not a word escaped his lips.
"Berdly, that wasn't nice!" Noelle came in between. She lowered her head, "I'm so sorry, Kris." She looked up and turned to Berdly. With doe eyes she said with a sweet voice, "You should apologize too."
Balling her fists, she only listened. Ready to bite off Berdly's face if she had to.
Berdly huffed and crossed his arms, "I don't want to apologized to that depressed dork."
Okay, that was enough to make Susie snap. She stood up and went to Berdly, grabbing his collar and raising him.
Berdly came face to face with the eyes of ferocity. He froze, "Look, no one calls him dork but me." Susie raised her boice and released his collar like he was only a mere ragdoll.
Berdly grumbled to himself and hurried out.
"I'm sorry for Berdly's behavior." Noelle bowed and went to the cafeteria.
When she was gone, Susie turned to Kris. "Hey, d-" She stopped herself, "How're you doing?" She bent down at his still sitting position.
Kris remained quiet. It was like nothing had ever changed from the moment they met.
"Talk." She demanded, knowinv very well that Kris would oblige.
"It's nothing." He mumbled.
That was it, that was enough. Everything was set back to the very beginning and Susie was angered of it. Things shouldn't go back to the way they were- Or maybe that was what he wanted, maybe he doesn't want her to be his friend anymore.
No, that couldn't be the case. She must remain as strong as she is now. Her life has finally gone easier since she left that bitter, old oaf's house.
And, of course, Kris was her friend. If she claimed to be his, then, shouldn't she help? But how?
How could things get back to the present not this nauseating past.
'Susie think.' She sealed her eyes shut and thought.
What made everything change?
How can she bring the life back into his gaze?
What made everything different?
...
Susie had an idea.
"C'mon." She scooped up Kris and ran to the deserted hallway.
Kris didn't care and just looked left and right, "Where are we-" Kris eyes widened.
It was the supply closet. More like the old play room of him and his brother. That caused his sadness to well up and numb him.
He drooped slightly in her grasp and laid lifeless in her arms.
Susie just rushed forward without a word. Without any hesitation.
But it didn't work.
The room was as they left it. The ball of junk just settled at the middle of the room.
Susie sighed and set Kris to his feet.
It didn't work. It wasn't here. It wouldn't come back.
Susie couldn't think of anything but merely squished Kris in her arms. Kris' eyes widened and he slowly sunk into his arms.
"Kris..." Susie said, "Really... What's going on with you?" She pulled away, "Not that I'm that worried or anything-" Susie rambled, "To hell with that, I am worried, dork. What's going on?" She stared right into him.
Kris lifted Susie's hair and gazed upon her beautiful golden eyes. He had seen them once, but it was still very enchanting. Unlike his.
She growled and pulled her hair over her eyes, he cheeks glowing a faint red. She didn't dare question his action, just so he could continue.
"It's just that-" Kris said, "Asriel is just..."
"Asriel?" Susie furrowed her brows.
Kris sighed again and looked up at her, "He just seems different." He said as he looked around the room, "And this place is a constant reminder of that difference."
Susie's eyes widened, this was her mistake. She had to take him somewhere else or he might-
But the result was different. He crouches down to the ball of junk and sinckered.
"All tjose things we collected, just for a ball of junk." Kris laughed lightly.
Susie saw the genuine smile he wore and went along with him.
"And these stuffed animals were monsters?" Susie laughed as she picked one up and threw them carelessly.
"And this chessboard, was a battleground?" Kris laughed, "How far did our imagination go, actually?" Kris said.
Susie shook her head, "I still think it was real, though."
Kris nodded in agreement, slowly forgetting about his brother's strange behavior.
Susie stared into Kris. Kris was confused as she started leaning in.
Closer and closer...
Inches apart...
His face turned from pale to red...
Her hand reached out...
And she parted his hair, revealing his crimson eyes.
Susie gasped and stared at it, enchanted.
Covering his eyes quickly, he curled up into a little ball and stayed quiet.
"They're scary, aren't they?" Kris slowly looked up.
"Wha- No! They look cool! It totally removes that dorky vibe of yours." Susie snickered.
"R-really? You think they're cool?" Kris gazed up at her like an innocent child.
"Well, yeah!" Susie said, totally impressed on how his eyes seemed to sparkle like rubies, or dim to the point where it becomes almost like blood.
Kris smiled lightly, "Mom's been wanting me to part my hair more often. I never did that." He said, "Not once."
Susie got closer to him, "Welp, who said you can't do that now." She grinned.
Kris raised a brow.
"Only if you do the same."
~~~~~~~

Krid sat anxiously. The world was a lot brighter than what he saw through his fringe.

Class ended, and the pair sat at the back of the car.

Kris wanted to put his hair back to the way it was, but before his hand could grasp a strand, Susie held it and put it down, settling her hand on top of his.

Susie gave him a supporting smile, raising her thumb up with a nod. Her enchanting eyes glowing, devoid of ferocity. She was uncomfortable herself but she pushed through that.

Her care was consuming her day by day, she didn't care, she liked it.

Her eyes widened in realization as she removed her hand from his.

Toriel came in with a tired look replacing her usual smile. But, as she glanced behind her, her emerald eyes lit up, a motherly grin across her lips.

"That's different, my child." Toriel said.

Kris meekly looked down and replied, "Y-yeah."

Toriel grinned from ear to ear, absolutely happy. She sighed in relief, "This really takes away the stress from work."

Toriel turned to Susie, "You look beautiful."

"No! I-I mean.." Susie said, "Ugh..."

Toriel chuckled and turned, starting the car.

Kris chuckled, stiffling his laughter with his fist.

Susie thought that her weakness towards Toriel was starting to become a problem.

But no, she did not care about that anymore. She was no longer in that man's care and it'll stay like that.

She could be as "weak" as she could be.

Things are different now.

She looked to her side to see Kris gazing upon the town through a half lidded view.

'Things are different now.'

••••••••••

EYYYYOOOO!!! I'm so sorry AGAIN! It was hectic these past two weeks. Exams and quizes and performance tasks and bleh blah bluh.

It was report card day yesterday and I was SO nervous but thankfully, I got good grades ^_^

Sorry for ranting about that. Reader-sans... I'm sorry for being sooooo inactive. And REALLY sorry for a sloppy chappie.

Thanks for sticking with me! Love ya all! I promise that I WON'T give up on this book nuh-uh.

I'm just feeling burnt out, hope you understand. I'll be able to write a little more since things aren't as hectic like these two weeks.
