And Mark Mahone: He had a childhood incident that sort of haunts him THAT I'M NOT GONNA TELL YOU ABOUT YET MUWAHAHA

Old Characters:

Lilly: The main character ish

Adam: Lilly's best friend

Hunter: Victoria's boyfriend

Victoria: Hunter's girlfriend (Yes they have the same countdown... so they're soulmates... right?)

And I think that's it...

Enjoy!!

Chapter three

Lilly

Did I do the right thing when I said no to Hunter? Should I have said yes? Would I be a suitable soul mate if... if we had the same countdowns? Questions chase each other around and around in my head as I think about him. I hadn't talked to him since I nearly buried him in my school papers last week. I had seen him in class and had passed him during class changes. He seemed to be more in love than ever with that girl... Victoria?

Was that her name? Yeah, Victoria. I had heard him calling her Vic from time to time as well. What am I compared to her? Nothing. At all. She's tall, blonde, and gorgeous. Me? I'm short, brown haired, and so-so. She has a bubbly personality while I'm on the shyer side. She's super slim and while I'm not fat, I'm definitely not super-model-teeny-stomach-curves-in-all-the-right-places skinny. She always dresses like a model and while I try to look "cute" on a regular basis I never seem to pull it off like she can. No, I could never be anything to Hunter if he had Victoria Dawson.

Abigail Whittaker

"Why is this so hard to do?" I flop back on my bed in frustration.

That's what you get for trying to do your own hair coloring, idiot.

I roll over and examine my waist length hair in the mirror. I was trying to do a light blue to purple ombre color, but instead I just got blue.

Whatever... It's not that bad...

I grin a little at myself in the mirror, and decided that I actually sorta liked the hair color.

I can't wait to see the looks I get.

Adam

I do a double take. Does that girl have... blue hair? She passes me in the hall, nearly whacking me in the head with the guitar strung up on her back. She has a happy, satisfied with life expression on her face. I find myself watching her in fascination as she passes.

What in the world is making her so happy?

I have no idea.

And she definitely has blue hair.

Lilly

"She what?" I laugh.

"She had blue hair!" Adam repeats.

"I need to meet this girl" I say, "She sounds awesome!" Adam laughs, "Yeah."

"Did you finish all of the math assignment?" I ask him.

"Yeah, barely" he says, frowning. "It's all a little overwhelming." I nod my head in agreement. Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning in a sea of homework and grumpy professors.

"So have you though anymore about the whole soul mate thing?" Adam asks, his eyes flickering to the timer on my wrist.

"Nah, I haven't had time." I say, the lie slipping out surprisingly easily.

"Have you?" I add curiously.

"Well, to be completely honest with you... I have, a lot." Adam confesses. I raise my eyebrows in surprise.

"Really?" I ask, inviting him to explain.

"Well, after I realized you weren't mine," here he blushes deeply, "I started thinking... knowing, that there was someone else out there for me." He looks at me, his eyes searching mine for understanding. I sit there looking at him.

"Well it's about time" I smirk at him, and his face dissolves into a grin.

"Shut up." he says, laughing.

Victoria

"Hunter stop it!" I giggle. "Never!" Hunter yells as he picks me up and "flies" me across the room. "I shall save my beautiful damsel in distress" he says in an adorable princely manner. He puts me down and whispers softly in my ear, "I love you Vic." I feel his hand on my neck as he pulls me into a kiss.

"And I you." I whisper on his cheek.

We are forced out of our embrace when a ticked off voice says, "Ugh, get a room."

Hunter pulls away and grins sheepishly at me. I look around to locate the voice and see that it comes from a young, twenty something year old with bright blue hair.

"Your just jealous." I giggle, grabbing Hunter's hand. The girl rolls her eyes

"Psh you wish." I laugh and walk over to her. Putting out my hand for a handshake I say, "I'm Victoria." She takes my hand and says, "What's up? I'm Abi."

"Very nice to meet you Abi." I say, smiling when I feel Hunter walk up behind me. Taking his hand again I say "and this is Hunter." Extending his free hand Hunter says "Hi Abi, it's nice to meet you."

"You too" she replies. We stand there in a slightly awkward silence until Abi brakes it by asking through a burst of giggles,

"Well do you like my hair?"
"I LOVE it!" I say. I had wanted to say something before, but didn't want to seem rude. She grins and says,

"Thanks, so do I."

I was going to like this girl.

Abi

After an entertaining conversation with the beautiful Victoria and her boyfriend I head home to work (finally) on my homework. After about ten minutes of unsuccessful studying attempts I finally give up. My eyes flicker to the timer on my wrist. Only 2 years 4 months 3 days 7 hours 12 seconds left till I meet him... Would I would be ready to get married the moment I met him or would I fall into the more hesitant want-to-get-to-know-you-better group? I could see it now. I walk into a café, and suddenly, our eyes meet. And just as both of our timers finish their countdown, he stands up and- my daydream is interrupted by a knock at my dorm room door. Who in their right mind would be out and about at this hour? My mind races. I hadn't made any enemies or anything had I? Before I can get to carried away the person knocks again.

Oh well, I suppose if it was a killer I would be able to get out of finals... well I'd be dead but...

I shake my head and open the door.

"Abigail Whittaker?" asks a good looking blonde haired boy about my age.

"That's me" I answer with just a hint of suspicion in my voice.

"I was asked to deliver this to you" he says, handing me a small rose.

"Uh... by whom?" I ask, not caring that I sound very surprised.

"He would prefer to stay anonymous" says the boy, the ghost of a smile on his lips.

"Oh... Ok..." I say, looking curiously at the rose.

"Uh... goodnight." I mumble to the guy, closing my door quickly. Picking the nicest cup I can find, I fill it with water and gently place the delicate flower in it.

Who in the world would want to give me, of all people, a flower?

Mark Mahone

I race down the hall. As fast as I run I can't seem to get away. I run harder, faster, legs pumping and chest heaving. I'm at the point of exhaustion when he catches me. I feel his claws ripping into my chest. As my heart pumps my blood towards the open cavity that was once my chest, he howls. A long, ghastly howl that makes you want to curl up and cease to exist. I wake up with a start. I realize that the "howl" is my own scream. I look around me. I'm tangled in a sweaty mass of sheets. I lay back down and let relief flood over me. It's just a dream. Yes, it's the dream, but that's all it is. A dream. I look over at my alarm clock and see that it was only 5:45.

Well, might as well get up, there was no sense in going back to sleep anyway.

I stood up and begin my morning routine, trying not to jump at every little noise.

Since when are all these little noises so scary?

I deem myself worthy of the day, and head to the library. I check my watch.

Only 6:15. Perfect. No one will be here for another hour, at least.

When I arrive, I find my favorite corner of the library and sit down to write. Ever since the incident, writing had become my escape. It is so easy to lose myself in a fictional world of my own creation. I am barely two paragraphs into my story, when I hear soft footsteps behind me. Turning around quickly I see a pretty, blonde haired girl standing there.

"Hi- uh do you need, that is- can I..." I shut up before I could say anything else stupid. I'm not that great when it comes to pretty girls. She smiles and says,

"I'll just sit here and read if it's not too much trouble to you." I nod, unable to make my lips say anything intelligent. She sits down in a chair near me and I find myself staring at her.

She's so gorgeous.

I look away when I remember that it's rude to stare. I try to continue my story but find that I can't focus. I finally give it up, excuse myself, and head back to my dorm.

Victoria

I finish my early morning studying and my thoughts flicker back to the strange encounter with the boy in the library.

He's sorta cute... shy, but cute.

I brush thoughts of him away and head back to my apartment. As I get ready for class, the boy from the library once again steps into my thoughts. I think about our conversation (or lack thereof) I remember something I hadn't noticed before. There was a certain look in his eyes that I couldn't quite place. Almost like... like a haunted look. Like there was something underneath the surface that... Well, I honestly don't know.
