*CHAPTER SIXTEEN*

"Alright, Quinn, do you feel any pain right now?" Quinn shook his head, but Lany raised his eyebrows. "You can't keep lying to me, or I can't help you."
Quinn sighed. "Okay. Fine. I'm dizzy, my whole body feels like shit, and my chest burns, probably with vomit."
Lany nodded. "Finally, you admit it. Thank you."
"Yeah. I feel like I need to vomit every ten seconds, and I'm in so much aching pain that I can't even drink or talk or even keep my eyes open without feeling its power."
"Then sleep."
"I can't get any more sleep, that's all I've done for the past few hours."
Lany sighed, not sure what to say. "Then don't sleep."
"Then I'll still be in pain."
"I don't know what to tell you, Quinn! Do whatever you want, okay?" He leaned himself up against the wall, crossing his arms.
Quinn looked at him, begging his head to stop spinning for one second. "Why'd you do it?" He asked.
Lany looked at him. "What do you mean?" He responded, but his look wasn't fooling Quinn.
"You know what I mean, Lany." He didn't answer. "You could get sick, yet you're still taking care of me."
Lany sighed. "Don't laugh, okay?" Quinn nodded, and he knew he had to try his hardest to keep his promise or Lany would get really angry at him. Luckily for him, it was hard to do anything at the moment.
He let out one more sigh, and started to speak. "I was... lonely."
Quinn didn't laugh, but he was surprised. "You? Lonely?"
"Hey, everyone gets lonely!"
"No, I know, I know. It's just, I didn't think you, um... You don't seem like someone that likes people that much."
"To be honest, I don't." That's when Quinn did laugh. He let out a huge laugh mixed with a huge cough, and he had to end up covering his mouth.
"What's so funny?" Lany asked, looking genuinely confused.
"You say you don't like people, yet you're over here confessing your heart out to me."
"You were the one that wanted me to!" Lany defended.
Quinn shrugged. "Fair enough."
Lany bit his lip, obviously deciding on whether or not to continue. Quinn noticed he looked a little... upset? It was hard to read his emotions. "Getting all of your memories wiped away is pretty lonely, Quinn. I don't remember anything. Anything. You can't possibly imagine how... how isolating that is."
Quinn separated his lips, suddenly feeling very guilty. "Lany, I-I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay. I don't blame you. I guess I'm not the easiest person to be friends with." Quinn didn't say anything, but he did agree with the last part, while he would never say that.
"But why me?"
Lany shrugged. "You're sick. Kinda like killing two birds with one stone; company for me and care for you."
Quinn had to admit; he was a little surprised when Lany did that for him, or why he saved his life when the monster was chasing him. "Thank you."
"Huh?"
"I never thanked you for staying with me. Thank you."
"Don't make it a big deal. Please." Lany played with his hands, but Quinn couldn't help but smile for some reason.
"Sure."

The two kids were weaving baskets, threading leaves through the bottom and sides so the water wouldn't leak through. While Ty was completely focused on finishing their baskets, Nico's mind was somewhere else. Somewhere where he didn't think he would visit again for a while. For some reason, he couldn't stand to ignore it anymore.
"Hey, Ty?" Nico started. Ty raised their eyebrows, asking him to continue. "If I'm going to die, I want to tell you something."
"Go on."
Nico took a deep breath. He hadn't told anyone besides Sparna yet, and she was his sister. It was different. It was even hard to even get the words out of his mouth.
"I'm... gay."
"Oh," They said, still looking at the basket they were weaving. "Okay."
"Okay?" He asked. He was expecting something different.
"Yeah," They said, shrugging. They didn't seem bothered by it, which made Nico feel relieved. Most people that he would have told would freak out, not wanting to get near him. But Ty was different. They weren't like other people. "What? Did you expect me to judge? I mean, hello!" They dropped their basket abruptly, which was not something Nico was expecting, holding their arms out. "I'm fricking trans!"
Nico laughed, smiling. "True," He said.
"So, am I the first person you told?"
"Besides Sparna, yeah."
Ty put their hand to their heart. "Aw, Neeks, I'm so honored." They laughed. Nico couldn't tell if they were being genuine or just mocking Sparna, but he laughed along with them for a second.
Desperate to change the subject, he added, "So... anything you want to get off your chest?"
"Um," Ty said, trailing off. They suddenly looked as if a giant spotlight had been put on them, their smile fading. "I don't know."
"You can tell me anything."
"I mean, sure, but..."
"It's okay. I won't judge."
Ty sighed. "Well, I hate candles and basically any artificial scent. Too... fake. I also have a huge fear of spiders, mostly because of this one time that I was locked in my room with one the size of my head and it almost killed me. Or at least I thought it almost killed me. Oh, and I have two older brothers, Poper and Henry. Henry a bastard, but Poper's nice enough."
Nico was surprised that they were finished. "Is that it? No huge secret? Because I already knew about the spider thing."
"Um, well, the rest is a big sob story. I don't think you want to hear it."
Truth was that Ty just didn't want to say it. They hadn't talked about their home life to anyone, and having someone close enough to do so was very strange for them. But deep down, they wanted to. Just so that it wouldn't haunt them as much.
"Oh, I do." Nico stopped, realizing his friend's resistance. "O-only if you want to talk about it."
"N-no, it's fine," Ty lied. "You're right. If we're gonna die, we might as well be honest with each other."
They took a moment before speaking. Their voice came out soft, like if they talked too loud it would break. "My parents aren't that supportive of me being... you know. They said, 'Tyra, we gave birth to a baby girl. Are you sure about this?' I said yes, and they said okay, but they kinda distanced themselves from me." Nico noticed how hesitant they were saying Tyra, so he assumed that that was their full name. He didn't ask, though, because to them that was not their name. It was Ty.
"But Henry was much worse than my parents. When I came out to him, he said I was going straight to hell. We're not even that religious." They looked upset, but they didn't cry.
"That's why I can't stand being called he or she. It...It just reminds me of home. Plus, it's just not... me. I don't want to be someone because somebody else thinks that's who I am." They lifted their hand to their eyes, wiping the water in them. They laughed a little. "God, what's wrong with me?" They whispered.
"Nothing!" Nico said, putting a hand on their shoulder. "Ty, I understand. You can cry. It's alright."
Ty smiled a little. "Thanks, Nico."
"You're welcome." Silence. "You know, I'm glad I met you before I died."
Ty's smile grew. "Me too."
They said nothing after that. Just smiled.

Sparna leaned against the wall, staring at her left hand that held her knife, her right hand feeling her much shorter hair. It was so puffy, so uneven and uncomfortably big and thick. But having that long hair just didn't feel right anymore. In a weird way, she was a new person. And an improved one, for that matter.
She was glad Talon and Liam were with Zeke and Orion and Nico was with Ty. She needed time to herself, just to think.
The whole situation was too much. She had not signed up for fighting whatever-the-heck-those-things-were and living off barely any water. Sure, she survived so far, but when would it end? When rescue helicopters come by and pick them up? No, they were probably going to get stuck there for years with no way off or back home.
She really wished she could be both honest and positive, but she really just couldn't.
They were all screwed.
At that point, Sparna knew that she needed to stay positive to Nico, even if that meant lying. If he knew she knew they were all going to die, he would think the same thing, and she didn't want that for him. Even dying he still found happiness. Who does that?
Sparna clutched her stomach. They hadn't eaten in a long time; a far too long time. They needed food as soon as possible, or the next people that die will not be a product of the monster.
She knew what she needed to do.

A/N
Okay I swear I'm going to do Zeke and William's POV soon. I always try but never find a way to get it in. Just please don't base who lives and who dies based on how many POV's they have had. Don't worry Cynarr, I already have William's planned out, and I am holding off on Zeke for a reason, but Rebel_Born it is going to happen. Just wanted to make sure you knew that (while I can't promise anything about which characters will live), less POV's do not mean they will die. So it is totally possible for William or Zeke to be one of the survivors, don't worry.
Wow that was a long A/N for such a short chapter XD
