Ho Ho Die

This weeks objective was to write a revenge story set 48 years in the future. I wrote this when I was listening to Christmas songs.

Ho Ho Die

It had taken me forty-eight years to get to this point, guns in hand, hiding behind a mountain of snow. He would pay for the crime he committed all those years ago. I was no longer the wide eyed child eagerly unwrapping presents. I no longer dreamt of a cherry red toy tractor with big black wheels and a bright yellow trailer to pull around.

Time had passed too quickly for me, the wrinkles on my face getting deeper with each passing day. Not here though, time moved differently here. This place wasn’t supposed to exist but I’d found it. Everyone thought I was crazy, I’d lost everything…no he’d made me lose everything!!

Tall speakers loomed in the distance, playing those awfully seasonal songs on a loop. If I wasn’t so bitter I might have pulled out my jazz hands and started dancing, just like those small idiots I see in the distance dressed in green, red and white.

I was going for the big cheese originally but even I’m not naïve enough to think that would have worked. Oh, the horn just sounded, everyone will be in place now. Creeping up to the door, I pause pulling my guns free and checking that I had everything I needed.

‘Merry Christmas!’ I shout as I throw open the doors.

They’re completely startled as I let rip with the guns. I watch with a satisfied smirk as they all fall to the floor. How many I’ve kill, I don’t care.

He stands at the back of the hall watching me, locking eyes with him he knows why I’m there.

As I leave, I can’t help but shout ‘That’s for putting coal in my stocking Santa!’
