Chapter 11

People stride down the busy road chatting away on their phones, smoking cigarettes polluting their own bodies deteriorating their health and Earth whilst obnoxiously window shopping.

Vehicles travel along the road, some rushing and running red lights. Elsa walks along the busy road along to Rapunzel's apartment, people rudely bumping into her without apologising.

"Nice people," Elsa mutters rolling her eyes.

Elsa's eyes catch a glimpse of a coffee shop just across the street from her. Her cheeks heat up and she quickens her pace rushing to Rapunzel's apartment.

She enters Rapunzel's apartment and goes into her small office to pick up Rapunzel's supplies needed for starting her clothing plans.

"Now where would I find a...?" Elsa trails off seeing the huge needle kit in front of her.

"And I thought these things would be hard to find!" Elsa laughs to herself.

She gathers up all of Rapunzel's supplies and texts Merida.

Elsie Phant 😱🐘
Hey, red head! Can you come and pick me up from Punzie's please? I've got all the stuff she needs in a suitcase that I don't want to chance taking on the bus

Meri berry 😋🍓
I thought you went grocery shopping?

Elsie Phant 😱🐘
Yeah, I did. I didn't need much, just some minor things here and there. I decided to jump over to Rap's to bring her back her stuff that she needs

Meri berry 😋🍓
Sure, I'll come along BUT you have to tell me about what happened before you left!

Elsa groans but agrees all the same. Merida smiles at the text in triumph, she dusts herself off and runs out the door leaving Rapunzel sitting on the white three seater couch in confusion.

"Eh, she'll be back." Rapunzel shrugs continuing her design for Emma's costume.

Merida speeds down endless busy roads all the way down to Rapunzel's place. A gang of five stroll past her red SUV swaggering to the alley eyeing up her vehicle beside Rapunzel's apartment complex. Merida glares at the back of their heads as they disappear into the darkness of the alley on high alert of their true intentions.

"Els! Come on!" Merida yells honking her horn aggressively.

Elsa groans as she struggles to bring down the heavy box with the not so light sewing machine on top. Merida quickly opens the side door and jumps back into the driver's seat glancing over at the alleyway nervously.

"Thanks for the help, Mer!" Elsa snarls sarcastically jumping in the van.

Merida speeds off down the road not wanting to get stripped of her only bit of transport, Elsa got startled by this due to the fact she hadn't got her seat belt on.

"Jesus Merida! What's gotten into you?" Elsa asks frightened clicking her seat belt in place.

"They were goin' to jump us! There was a gang of five who were eyeing up my ride!" Merida exclaims heatedly.

Merida pulls up in a car park locking the door and staring at Elsa intensely. Elsa explains everything to her about how she met Jack and why she was so nervous.

"I didn't know you had an anxiety attack, Els. I guess you've always been very nervous since your past, huh?" Merida asks quietly.

Elsa's light blue eyes fill with tears. She desperately tried to leave the past in the past but she felt it always haunted her in some way, she always feels as though her parents are looking down on her in disgust for her horrific lifestyle.

Merida smiles sadly at Elsa. Merida wanted nothing more than to forget her past too, she has an excruciating past which she desperately wants to leave behind.

"I may not have known your parents but I can assure you that they're far from angry with you, if anything I believe they'd be thankful that you're raising your sister beautifully!" Merida smiles reassuringly.

Elsa flashes a small smile Merida's way and she stares out the window staring at the city. Lights being sweeping on all across the city as eight pm hits, the girls sit in a blissful silence for observing the beautiful view before them.

"I'm sure your Mum didn't mean what she said all those years ago, Mer. I'm sure she was just scared and confused at the time, I bet she's been looking for you too. Sure, some parents are like that but I don't believe Eleanor is one of those parents," Elsa says.

Merida's green blue eyes tear up thinking of her family. Just like Elsa, Merida has a painful past. Merida was drugged when she was younger, a senior at her old High School took advantage of her and she fell pregnant. Her Mother Eleanor had a huge row with her and kicked her out onto the streets at sixteen.

"My past kills me, Els. I lost my whole family and my only hope for a family was the baby...he died and I was left alone. I still feel broken, Elsa. Even after all these years..." Merida sobs.

Merida gently pulls down her sleeve revealing the tattoo on her left arm. The tattoo is a little heart which has the Scottish flag inside, a ribbon sits on the top with the name Owen on it in cursive writing.

"I never got the chance to meet my son, Els..." Merida cries.

Elsa engulfs her best friend in a hug. Merida gladly accepts as she drowns in the hug inside her SUV. Grey clouds have now taken refuge on the sky, glooming over the once peaceful looking city.

Across the globe over in Scotland, Fergus and Elinor Dunbroch walk quietly with their arms hooked inside of the cemetery to a particular grave. Elinor places a colourful bunch of hydrangea onto the grave as a tear slides down her pale cheek. Her husband sees this and wipes her sorrowful tear away.

"Our we darlin' is a strong warrior, wherever she is I'm sure that she's doin' just fine for hersel'!" Fergus declares encouragingly.

Despite his attempt to ease his heart broken wife, he too has his doubts about his daughter being alive and well. The police weren't able to find anything indicating her alive, they'd discovered one piece of evidence and even then; it was nothing more than a bloody white shirt. The blood had been confirmed Merida's too.

"You weren't there, Fergus. I hurt her, I-I kicked her out—my own daughter out of rage and spite! I've been a horrible Mother to her and now...w-we don't even know if she's alive!" Elinor wails into her husband's chest.

Fergus sighs deeply cuddles her wife, his blue-green eyes water staring down at the headstone before him.

Owen Angus Dunbroch
Born asleep

My son, my star. Please guide me with your resonating light as I now continue into the harsh darkness of the night. I love you.

Heartbreak can be a good or a bad thing. Majority of the time, heartbreak completely consumes a person and they can ultimately go past the point of no return. Merida had gotten to that point until the day she met Rapunzel and Elsa on the streets.

"I wonder how Rapunzel's doing with her sketch! She has Anna's planned out and ready so I think she'll work on making them over the next week or so," Merida declares.

Merida was in fact correct about Rapunzel working away with designing and costume making. She'd already ran Anna's outfits past her and she approved gratefully seeing the sketch alone.

Rapunzel carefully cuts all the fabrics and materials to perfection making sure they're all ready to be sewn together at some point. She jumps onto Facebook and searches up Emma Frost.

"Here she is!" Rapunzel cheers.

Emma Frost's Facebook is very cutesy and girly. Her profile picture is a picture of herself, Anna and Astrid smiling happily without a care in the world looking like nothing could possible ruin their fun!

Her cover photo however contains a family of five in front of Disneyland's castle! A man with brown hair and blue eyes smiles as his left arm is hooked around his wife's neck and his right hand gently holding his son's shoulder.

The wife has white blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes, such a combination of both hair and eye colour makes her stand out instantly.

The son in the middle however also stands out too. He has unique white hair and piercing blue eyes and he is taller in comparison to the two younger siblings either side of him, he smiles happily and carelessly towards the camera.

Two children are left in the photo, either side of the eldest son in the photo. They're both also smiling happily towards the camera, Emma makes a cute kawaii pose as Jamie high fives his older brother.

"That's such a cute photo!" Rapunzel squeals.

She ends up stalking Emma's Facebook for a little while. She comes across a photo of two graves, she reads the names aloud.

She mutters, "Christine and Jackson Frost..."

She smiles sadly at the photo and quickly jumps onto messenger.

Rapunzel Corona - Hey, Emma! I'm Rapunzel, you met with me at Anna's house the other day! I'm just wanting your opinion on your sketched costumes for the play!

Rapunzel forwards the sketches and begins sewing together Anna's costume. Anna sits in her bedroom messaging Astrid as she admires Rapunzel's sketches for Astrid's costume.

Bestie boo 😍😘
I may not be in tomorrow, I have to study for some literature tests that I have to take for the class's progress this semester 😴

Crazy cutie 🤪😂
Aww, I'm going to miss you! 😭

Crazy cutie 🤪😂
By the way, did you see that cute guy Andy on the football team? He was TOTALLY checking you out the whole time! 😍

Anna smirks to herself remembering how red Andy McCormick went when he was looking at Astrid.

Bestie boo 😍😘
Yeah? So...? 🤔

Anna re-reads Astrid's last message unsure what to think of Astrid's last text. She furiously types her text.

Crazy cutie 🤪😂
What do you mean so?! Are you crazy?! He's one of the hottest guys in our college! You HAVE to give that guy a chance! 😍 I definitely would! 😉

Astrid sighs staring at the glass bottle of clear liquid in her hand with a frown on her face.

Bestie boo 😍😘
Ha! No thank you, I'd rather be a singleton! 😇

Crazy cutie 🤪😂
You've never been on a date before though! Come on, Ash! 😩

Bestie boo 😍😘
Yes, I have. I went on a date about two weeks ago! 😂

Anna's face scrunches up in confusion reading Astrid's test message.

Crazy cutie 🤪😂
Since when and with who?! Why wasn't I informed?! 😤😱

Bestie boo 😍😘
Because it didn't turn out well, she's a spoilt brat who isn't nice at all! 😒

Anna's eyes widen in shock and her jaws drop. Astrid isn't straight?

Crazy cutie 🤪😂
She? 🤔

Bestie boo 😍😘
Ugh! Stupid autocorrect! 😤

Astrid throws her phone on her bed gulping down the clear liquid which burns as it runs down the back of her throat. She's doing her best to cope with everything and drinking is the only thing that seems to help her in her mind.

"You're so funny, Keith!" Patricia giggles from the living room.

Astrid's face forms into a nasty scowl hearing her Mother's gleeful giggles of joy. Her Mother changed after her Father went MIA (missing in action), ever since Astrid has been so broken by losing her Dad. She was slowly losing hope day by day as there was no reports on her Father's whereabouts.

"I miss you, Dad..." Astrid sobs to herself quietly.

In the living room, Patricia and her new lover Keith are laughing away watching a movie completely unaware of Astrid's state. More to it, Patricia stopped caring for her daughter after losing her husband. She reminded her too much of her husband who she had fallen out of love with before he went missing in action.

"We should go out together, just you and me!" Patricia smiles fluttering her lashes.

The two giggle and run out to the car driving away out to eat alone. Astrid hears this and she walks out her room into the living room. She stares at the room which her Mom and her new boyfriend have left a mess. Astrid spots a photo on the mantle piece which fills her with rage, the photo is of her Mom and her new boyfriend. The reason this has enraged her is because the photo of Astrid, her Father and her Mother sat there.

"I'm so done with this woman!" Astrid screams angrily in tears.

She rushes into the kitchen for the bottles of alcohol. Bottles of vodka, red wine, white wine, gin, whiskey, champagne and Prosecco are all polished to the oblivion.

With no logic in her mind due to intoxication, she tears her Mother's house apart. Tearing wallpaper, smashing the glass for the frame of new photo on the mantle piece, throwing glass bottles across the room, stabbing the sofa with a knife furiously, punching the hollow walls leaving holes until she's exhausted. She drops to her knees onto the cold wooden floor piercing her skin from the shattered glass.

"Where are you, Daddy...?" Astrid slurs as tears slip past her blonde lashes.

She glares at the photo of Patricia and her lover, she takes the photo out of the frame and sets it down onto the fire watching it burn.
