My bedroom door flew open with a mad Desiree charging towards me.
"CASSY! WAKE UP AND TURN YOUR ALARM OFF!" She yelled at me while throwing a pillow that she brought with her from her own room at me.
"Okay sorry!" I groaned and threw the pillow back at her. I reached over to my phone on my bedside table and turned off the annoying alarm. It was 7:05am, which means I have about an hour until I need to leave the house since I'm meeting Sam at school at 8:15 and it only takes me five minutes to drive to school. I slowly dragged myself out of bed to take a shower and get ready. Once I had gotten ready, curled my blonde hair and put on my new dress, I went downstairs to eat some breakfast.
My mom looked over to me once I entered the kitchen, "Morning Cassy. You look great!" She smiled at me and put a plate of pancakes on the table for me.
"Thanks mom. Where's Des?" I asked her and started eating the pancakes she made for me. One thing's for sure, my mom is great at making pancakes.
"She left early so she can walk to school with her friends. Your dad told her not to leave so early, but you know Desiree, she left anyways."
"Great! I won't have to drive her to school. I'm going to get going too, thanks for the pancakes. See you later." I got up and put my plate into the sink and opened the front door to leave.

Once I arrived at school it was only eight o'clock so I still had fifteen minutes until Sam gets here. I opened the doors to the school and started to walk to the library. Suddenly someone ran into me and I fell, being the clumsy person I am, and also dropping my school bag.
"Well this is a great way to start the year." I mumbled to myself.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. Here." I looked up and saw a guy with short light brown hair and beautiful blue eyes picking up my bag and extending his hand to me. He was literally the most amazing looking guy I've ever seen and I'm not exaggerating. I grabbed his hand and he helped me up.
"Uh..It's a-alright," I stammered while taking my bag from him. He smiled at me and wow, not only did he look gorgeous but he had perfect white teeth. Then he turned around and walked off. Great job Cassy! You scared off the most attractive guy on the planet with your creepy staring! I continued walking to the library and suddenly remembered that I didn't get his name. I was pretty certain he was new because I would know if a guy like that went to our school and I'm sure every girl would be talking about him as well. I rounded the corner of the hallway to the library and waved to the librarian, Mrs. Samer. She was probably in her mid thirties and she was pretty nice.
"Hello Cassandra! How was your summer?"
"Hi Mrs. Samer! It was alright nothing special. You know me just reading books all day," I laughed and asked her how her summer went. After talking to her for a few minutes she looked up at the clock.
"Oh dear! I forgot to pick up the package of new textbooks from the front office. Do you mind getting them for me?"
"Yeah I'll go get them!" I started walking out of the library and headed for the front office. When I got there, I had to wait since the receptionist was talking to someone with the principal in the office. I decided to text Sam to see if she was here yet since there was only five minutes until 8:15 which was the time we were suppose to meet.
Are you here yet?? - C
Sorry! Running late won't be there until the first bell - S
Well that's just great. I looked up from my phone to see that the office door was opening so I put my phone back into my bag. When I looked back up I saw the guy I bumped into earlier this morning coming out of the office with the principal and receptionist behind him.
The principal, Mr. Caplin, looked at me and his face brightened up.
"Oh Miss. Wilson! This is Cameron. He is new here and I was just going to show him around but since you're here, I think you would be better at that."
Great. I'm stuck showing the new guy around. It wouldn't be that bad getting to hang out with the hot new guy except for the fact that I embarrassed myself earlier and also the fact that I'm not popular which means my communication skills are horrible. Mr. Caplin turned back to Cameron and said, " Cameron, this is Cassandra. She will show you around and bring you to your first class. We are very happy that you decided to enroll at Haltwood High School!"
After Mr. Caplin's short welcome speech, he entered back into his office and Cameron started walking towards me. Okay Cassy, don't mess this up. Stay calm and act cool.
"Hey didn't I bump into you earlier? I'm sorry about that. So, where are we going first Cassandra?" He was a head taller than me but he leaned down a bit and looked into my eyes. Oh my, his eyes were so beautiful and the way he said my name. Breathe Cassy!
"That's alright. I just needed to pick up something from the office then I can take show you the library." I replied nervously while blushing. Why did he have to be so cute? It's so hard to act cool! How does Sam do this?
"Sounds good to me." He chuckled quietly while following me up to the office window.
After I spoke to the receptionist about the package of textbooks, she handed me a big box and then I got really worried. How was I supposed to carry a box filled with heavy textbooks?
Then Cameron came closer to me and asked, "Need some help?"
"Uh..yeah. Thanks." I stepped aside and he went over to the window and picked up the package like it only contained feathers instead of heavy textbooks. I started walking to the library with Cameron right behind me.
"So what class do you have first?" I asked Cameron hoping to get some conversation going.
"I think I have English with Mr. Walker."
Really? I have that class first as well. I don't know if I'm lucky to have a good looking guy in my class so I can stare at while I'm bored in class or if I'm unlucky to have to see and hear all the other girls obsess over him.
"That makes things easy I have that class first as well."
When we entered the library, Cameron put the package on Mrs. Samer's desk and i quickly showed him around the library. Yes I know not that exciting but the first bell doesn't go for another twenty minutes so I have some time to kill. The less I embarrass myself the better.
Once we left the library we started walking to the gym.
"So why are you here at Haltwood High?" I asked him attempting at making conversation again. Haltwood isn't a bad school but it's definitely one of the smaller schools in Washington.
"Long story short, I was not such a great student at my old school in California so I got expelled and my mom thought it was better to get a fresh start. We moved here to Haltwood, Washington and she sent me to Haltwood High." Cameron explained to me with a hint of sadness in his voice. For a moment I wondered how how he got expelled but I dismissed the thought thinking that it probably wasn't anything too extreme and I bet all the girls will love the fact that he's from California.
When we entered the gym I asked him if he was thinking about trying out for any of the sports teams that Haltwood High has.
"I noticed you guys have a decent football team. I might try out for that since I was really into football back in California." He answered me while walking over to Haltwood High's trophy case.
A football guy. Not surprising.
"Can't wait to be part of the...Haltwood Rabbits?" He pointed to a picture of our school mascot, Raul the Rabbit, and started laughing.
"Hey don't laugh! Raul can be pretty intimidating!" I started laughing along with him once I said that.
"Oh yes. I'm sure he is." he replied back with sarcasm while continuing to laugh.
