"I was required to go to this dance for 15-17 year olds from prestigious families go to meet other teens of there social standings. I was going completely ready to be bored to death, but what I wasn't prepared for was.... You. Layla Fox, whose family earns there fortune by selling purebred English Foxtrotters, known for there fancy steps and ridiculously high prices. Your family sold the best of the best, and have been for years." he stops to let it sink into my memory, but I had no memory of the dance. He continued on with his explanation.
"You just stood in the corner because you were too shy and scared to talk to anyone. I walked up to you, and tried to talk to you. You didn't say a word, you just stood there blushing, looking at the ground. After a bit of poking and prodding I finally got you talking to me. You know what you said? The first thing that came out of your mouth was 'you talk to much'. I couldn't believe you said something so bold, I laughed my head off. You were so confused to why I was laughing, soon you joined in the laughing. From then on we hung out. Months, weeks, weekends, every day. We were inseparable. One day I confessed that I fell in love when I first saw you at that dance, and you said that you fell in love with me when I laughed, you said you fell in love with that laugh of mine. Imagine that, you were the first to fall in love with something other than my good looks, though I am guessing you did not mind my good looks." he chuckled, and continued, his smile crumbling away.
"Then on new years eve, my vacation was over. I had to go back to New York. Leaving you behind, and heart broken. I didn't want to but you were to young to come with me, and my relatives did not want me around for much longer. Then the day after I made it home I got a phone call from a one of our friends in virginia, saying that you got into an accident and that you were in a coma. That you might have amnesia when you wake up, if you woke up. I wanted to go back right away but my parents would have nothing of it. They said it was 'dangerous' or 'you have work. Do you want to get fired?' they had no idea how important you were to me. When you did wake up, you had your memories but not the ones with me in them. You knew nothing about me or my love for you. I was crushed." he looked down at our hands with a sad smile. Then I suddenly felt a sharp pain shoot through my head. I pulled my hand from Lukes grasp and held onto my head , as memory after memory returned to my brain. I began to remember the dance, Luke's laugh. The time I spent with Luke. The emptiness I felt without him, but didn't notice till now. The heartache I felt while watching his back disappear into the crowd to board his private jet to go back home to New York....and the accident, how sad I was that day when I was hit by a drunk driver.
"Layla are you ok?! I'll go get the doctor...." I jump into his arms before he could leave, cutting him off. accidentally typing over the IV I was connected to, but lucky Luke was able to catch it before it landed on me. He sat on the bed so the IV did not tip over anymore and I could still hang on to him.
