Two
I sat on the ground with my arms crossed, pouting like a child. Why had nothing I tried worked? I had weight when I sat on the bed, and it didn't disappear. Yet everything else I'd touched... Well, let's just say that Kaiden had a lot more on his desk before I got here.
"Are you done?" He asked, monotone from across the room.
Since the third time I failed, he seemed to flinch less and less. Upon my seventeenth or so try, he laid back down on his bed.
"For now," I sighed. I flopped onto my back, staring up at his cracked dorm room ceiling. "Why'd you do it?"
"Do what?" He groaned, turning over onto his stomach and pulling out his phone.
"Kill me."
He stayed silent for an uncomfortable amount of time, until I gave up hope that he'd answer at all.
I wanted to ask more questions, but I left it at that for now. After all, we had the rest of his worthless life to ask questions. I huffed and kicked my legs in the air, then let them fall again.
"This silence is getting awkward," I commented mindlessly.
"It wouldn't be if you'd stay quiet," Kaiden quipped.
I sat up, irritated. "Unlike you, I can't do anything. You're over there playing a candy match game and I'm just here doing nothing."
"Well doesn't that just suck for you, then?"
I groaned in annoyance. "Is it impossible for you to act like a human being towards me for once?"
"Yep," he replied shortly, over-enunciating the word.
He didn't seem to be paying me much attention any more, now that he had his phone out. I reached in my back pocket for my phone, only just then realizing I'd probably lost it in the lake. Blasted thing, phones. They were hardly a convenience so much as a distraction.
I smiled a devilish grin, standing up and ambling toward Kaiden. He never even looked up. Casually, I reached for his phone, plucking it out of his hands before he could match the candies he was working on.
"Hey!" He protested, lunging toward me as I dangled the phone just out of his reach. That was the one advantage of being tall; you could always keep things away from someone.
I watched the screen slowly lose its color and fade away. "Oh no," I crooned, soaking the words in sarcasm, "Poor you! Now you can never finish the level!"
"You asinine imbecile!"
"Wow, big words for a baby."
"It's called the english language, ever learned it? What an idiot! I need that phone for everything."
"Well, it looks like everything might just have to wait," I smirked.
"What do you want?!" He conceded with a shout.
"Let me out of this room."
"Yeah? To go where?" He joked. "It's not like anyone will see you. They never saw you anyway."
I ignored the stupid remark. "To my dorm room. I have unfinished business."
Author's Note!
GUYS I GOT PERMISSION TO TURN THIS INTO A FULL BOOK!!!! I'm so insanely excited. Here's "chapter two," but it's short because I would have split up the last chapter if I knew I could go ahead with the rest of the book.
Anyways, I hope you guys are finding this interesting! I am already so in love with these characters, and I have a ton of ideas for this storyline!
Love you all, thanks for reading!
