.                   Elijah's pov
"Bring it on." The only good thing about our new situation was that Clarisse's siblings had released us after my supposed sister interrupted. I don't fight much,but it was kind of obvious that Clarisse had the advantage. She was older than Raven, more experienced,and nearly a head taller with quite a bit of muscle. What did Raven have? Her drop-dead gorgeous looks. Yeah. Not much use in a fight. No superspeed,no super strength, no experience whatsoever.

Raven leaned idly against the wall, seemingly unworried. But the savage smile on her face was proof that she was anticipating a good battle. What was she looking forward to do much? "So," she drawled in her strange voice,"weapons or no weapons?"

No weapons. Please,don't say weapons. Using weapons in a fight like this would be a very bad idea. Don't do it.

Naturally,that's what Clarisse picked. "Weapons."

Raven barely glanced up. "Powers or no?"

"No powers."

The girl with the zombie chaffeur simply shrugged. "Very well,I'm going to win anyways. It's best that you back down."Her words were hypnotic and I somehow believed that they were true. It was odd,I knew for sure that she couldn't have charm speak. We're not descended from Aphrodite. Yet her words were convincing,even if they were ridiculous. There was no way she could win,yet I felt Clarisse tense like she actually believed it.

"Too afraid to make the first move?" How is Raven staying calm? Now would be a good time to freak out! I mean,where is your sanity girl?! Oh right,she's a sociopath. Often extremely intelligent,remorseless, may be incapable of experiencing love, stays eerily calm,excellent at manipulating people, very convincing and often very charismatic. That explains half of the exchange between the two girls so far. Finally,the dark skinned girl answered. "Not at all." She smirked. "I just thought you could use the advantage that comes with striking first. "The burly daughter of Ares growled before launching herself towards the black clad figure,electric spear in hand.

Twin katanas appeared in Raven's hands,one celestial bronze, the other Stygian iron. When did she get those? And where?I thought she would step out of the way,but nope. Okay,my sister is definitely psycho. A helpful little tip: don't stand in the way of an electric spear. Of course,she ignored that. Raven actually stopped the spear between her two swords. Again,not a great idea. Metal conducts electricity. Even I know that,and I'm the one people call a kelp head. Surprisingly, Raven didn't get electrocuted. What the heck is going on? Then again,our family is distantly descended from Zeus. None of us boys have any powers besides the power of Poseidon and the ability to shadow travel because of Thanatos. Of course it would be the girl who got the extra awesome powers. That sucks.

Judging from the look on Clarisse's face,she expected Raven to get fried just like I did. I could see the tendrils of electricity sizzling through her body and I looked away,just in case she was about to explode. I really didn't want to get sister guts in my mouth. Yeah,my mind is weird. Oh look,there's a squirrel that got in here! Sorry,am I getting off topic? My ADHD is pretty bad. Okay,really bad. Back to the fight.

The spear snapped and Clarisse bolted after trying to punch Raven and ending up with a black eye from a right hook the smaller girl nailed her with. Maybe I was wrong on my assessment of Raven's fighting ability. Yes people,I used a big person word. It would be wise for you not to get used to it,I'm probably going to revert back to my normal kelp head self pretty soon.

After Clarisse ran,Raven turned to look at me and Noah. She sighed,and seemed to relax a bit. "Look,I'm sorry if I was a bit distant earlier. I'm hoping that we may have a chance to become better acquainted in the coming days." Aw,that's nice of her to say that compared to how she was earlier. Then she looked straight into my eyes,the fierce,wild, independent look back on her face. Her gaze chilled me to the core,filling my heart with ice. Great,now she's back in Atalanta mode,aka scary wild mode. Then again, that's probably just her normal self. "But remember,our mother was not who you thought she was. There's a reason I left. There are things about our family,about my past,about our brother Hae-Joon, that you do not know. Trust me on that."

After that cryptic message,Raven put away her unusual swords and raised an eyebrow. "Now,are you coming or not? There's some people I want you to meet. "

Percy's pov
When I saw the group of people coming towards us,my first thought was scary girl! Run before she tries to kill you! Then it changed to:she's hot, but I prefer the tall blonde braniacs. Like Annabeth. You see,Annabeth and I were just hanging out doing nothing and taking a break from saving the world with Jason, Piper,and Nico, surprisingly enough. The Italian boy still didn't smile,but he didn't glower so much either. I guess that was an improvement,though I still had yet to see him eat more than once or twice a day.

Stupid ADHD. Now where were we? Oh yes,the scary killer Goth girl and her buddies. As they came closer, I saw that they were all Asian with the same sense of familiarity that there was between Nico and Hazel. Probably siblings, although that would be an awful lot of hyper demigod children in one family. The girl had eyes that were black instead of brown and her short hair was swept to the side so it kinda covered part of her face. It pure ebony with jet blue highlights instead of just dark brown that was nearly black. Her skin was quite a bit darker too,brown with a slight russet tone, maybe more Native American than Asian. I wonder if she would be sensitive about the topic like Piper was.

Dressed in black,yet managing to not look like she was going to a funeral,the girl had silver jewelry and glasses with black frames. Okay, seriously, what's with all the black? Her eyes behind the lenses were intense and fierce and made me want to run. They also had a distinct outline and dark shadows under them. She turned to the three boys. "Guys,I want you to meet Percy,Annabeth,Jason, Piper,and Nico." Her voice was soft and smooth,but what was with the accent? It was a strange mix of southern and Asian. And why did she faintly smell like the salty ocean breeze? Wait,the oldest one looks familiar. It's processing .......oh yeah,he's the vampire. Does that mean.....

Before I could think about it too much(yes,I do think),the two younger boys were going into a state of major excitement. That really confused me (then again,most things do). They were going crazy and saying things like "Oh my gods!"and "Can you sign my book set?"

Why does he want me to sign his books? The girl,unlike her brothers, was strangely calm. She held out her hand. "Raven Rhyoo. Pleased to meet you. I'm going to assume that you already know Hae-Joon. Those two are Elijah and Noah." We shook hands and she let her brothers continue to.....what did Piper call people like them? Fanboys? They continued to fanboy. I got a better look at her while her brothers were spazzing out. Something about her seemed familiar, yet wrong at the same time. Those eyes.....I just felt that they should be a shade of sea green darker than mine,I guess you would call it viridian, with some more life and vitality instead of black and empty like the Ghost King's. They should contain deadly intelligence and fiery determination, not defensive hostility. Her hair should be a deep fiery red and should be longer and slightly wild and wavy, bordering on messy. Her skin should be deathly pale,again like Nico's ,and she shouldn't have glasses. She should be slightly insubstantial seeming, wisps of shadow surrounding her. Seeing Raven reminded me of a distant memory of someone from my past, someone who couldn't be her,but the memory still continued to nag at me.

"Hae-Joon,can you take the twins over for an archery lesson?" Vampire boy nodded and and led the boys away towards the archery range. After they left,there was an awkward silence. Nico spoke for the first time since her arrival." It's been a while. You've changed." Wait,Nico knows that girl? Raven remained emotionless. "Yes indeed." Cue the awkward silence. I just had to say something. "So, um,where are you from?"

Yeah,I know,I'm a seaweed brain. Oh well. Scary girl(I have a feeling that she'd get along with Thalia),just shrugged. "Atlantis,Korea,Texas,the underworld,I don't really have a permanent address. Although I do spend a lot of time in the underworld. That's how I know Nico."

"You were dead?" Raven just shook her head." No. I just was raised in the underworld."

"What kind of mother raises her kids in the underworld?" Annabeth elbowed me. Oops,didn't mean to say that out loud.

"She didn't really raise me. I ran away to the underworld when I was younger. I live there most of the time. My brothers on the other hand,they were raised in the world of the living." I didn't say anything. I mean,there isn't exactly anything you could really say to something like that.

"So,um,do you want to just hang out with us sometime? You're brothers are welcome to as well" Smooth. Real smooth. Hey,at least I tried to be friendly. Thankfully,she actually considered the question. Raven regarded our group thoughtfully." I may actually take you up on that offer. But then again, sometimes you're better off alone. "

And with that,the mysterious newcomer faded into the shadows. What the? She can shadow travel? I glance over at Nico. The equally mysterious son of Hades scowled back." I know what you're thinking. She isn't a child of Hades. My father confirmed it." Okay then. What was his problem? Did he not want another sister?

"Um,Nico? You know her pretty well, right?"

"Yes."

"So what do you think she meant when she answered my question?"

"I'm pretty sure she'll start hanging around with us." Us. He said us. I guess Nico regards us as friends now. Even though I'm supposedly not his type. Annabeth still looked slightly troubled"But what's with the whole 'sometimes you're better off alone' thing?"

Death breath shrugged. "Raven tends to be a bit cryptic and mysterious. Growing up in the underworld will do that to a person." The proof is standing in front of me.
"She also has some trust issues. She didn't tell me anything about herself besides her name and age for two years. " That might be a problem. Wait. "How long have you known her?"

"I first met her at that boarding school. "

Piper looked curious. "Why doesn't she seem to like anybody? I wonder what horrible thing happened to her to make her so hostile. Do you know?"

Nico glared. "It's not my place to tell you. "Dropping the subject and moving on.
Time skip

It was an entire day before the new girl made a reappearance. Her brothers had stayed around the other campers,but Raven disappeared somewhere into the woods. After the war,the rules changed. Now people could sit wherever they wanted. Our little group had our own table that we usually sat at. Nico always sat at the edge,as far away from everyone else as possible. I had just started on a slice of pizza when the vampire and his three siblings came up. Raven seemed to be in charge even though she was younger than Hae-Joon. She sat down in the space across from Nico. The others sat closer to the main group. I noticed that even though her brothers started eating immediately, Raven just wrote in a notebook,not touching any of the food.

"Why aren't you eating?" Raven glanced up and raised an eyebrow." I just don't eat often. They eat normally, but I don't."

"Uh,is it because you're a vampire?"

She leaned back,scowling. I had to wonder if she had someone close to her die,like Nico. They were similar enough to have the same tragic backstory. "If that was the reason,Hae-Joon and the boys wouldn't eat either. "Oh right. I forgot that her brother was a vampire.

Annabeth leaned in closer. "So you are a vampire?"

Raven went back to writing in her notebook. "All of us are. It's a family trait. I don't see what the fuss is about though."

She didn't see what the fuss was about? She and her brothers are vampires for gods sake! As if she could read my thoughts,she looked back up from her notebook." It's not like we drink blood. Our kind are classified as vampires because we can revert to blood,but normal food is definitely preferable. We're just like normal humans except for the fact that we live forever unless we are killed. No super speed,hypnotic powers, or any of that stuff."

Oh. Well that's OK then. Raven then turned her gaze towards Nico who looked slightly uncomfortable. Can't blame him. "You aren't still mad about that exploding zombie prank are you? Because if you are,remember that it was all Hae-Joon. "Huh?

Hae-Joon protested. "It was not!"

"You're right. It was you and Anna." The girl in question,Anna, one of the Aphrodite kids, yelled back. "Was not!" Elijah just blinked. "I'm confused as to what is going on here." So am I kid.

"What's in the notebook?"

"I get bored easily,so I write down experiment ideas so I have something to do. Now,how about a sparring match tomorrow at 10?"

"Sure." Why did I agree to that? Raven nodded,then got up and disappeared into the woods once more.

Annabeth looked worried. "Is she a sociopath?"

Hae-Joon sighed wearily. "Yes. How could you tell?"

"I heard about the fight. Raven seems to be manipulative,has a lack of remorse combined with shallow emotions,is antisocial,cold, calculating, has a need for constant stimulation, is somehow charming and convincing,seems to be secretive, intelligent,and impulsive,and is strangely and eerily calm and collected in situations where the opposite would be normal. She probably doesn't have a problem with lying either." That's just scary.

"All true. "

"Those are symptoms of sociopaths. Nico,has she ever tried to manipulate you?"

The son of hades seemed angry that Annabeth had suggested such a thing. "No. And not all of what you said is true. I don't think she's a sociopath. Raven cares more than she lets on. She's just good at hiding it. She's always been a good actress. She has to be" Okay,that was weird. I couldn't understand why he was so defensive. Well,this has turned out to be an interesting evening. Now there's only tomorrow's fight to worry about.
