The Oracle
Hi,I just want to give Christina_Nightraven,daughter of Zeus,a shout-out for supporting my story. Thanks cousin!

Raven's pov
I woke up in my old house, with the demigods, shadow hunters, and a warlock sprawled out on the floor and furniture. I noticed that one of my wings was positioned kind of weird, like it was covering something. Oh. Right. That something was my newly healed student. I knew it was him because his skin was ice cold and I could feel it. Strange, foreign desire filled me and I shivered at the new sensation. This had only started happening recently. I wonder what it could mean.
The familiar aura of death that Nico emitted was oddly comforting. Then again,I spend most of my time in the Underworld,of course his deathly aura would remind me of home. The smell of pomegranates and chocolate that surrounded my younger yet older cousin also reminded me of death,in its own strange way.
One by one,the others stirred and woke. Percy sat up and yawned. Suddenly,I could feel all eyes on me. "What?'
Hazel's eyes seemed to bore right through me. "What," she asked, "do you think that you're doing with my brother?"
Leo snickered. "Looks like Nico is hot for teacher."
"He is not," I hissed. Leo looked at me like just really? "Well he isn't!" I whisper-yelled. "And keep your voices down,my dear cousin here is unbearable when woken up any time before eleven. I found that out the hard way when I walked in on him on his first day residing in Hades' palace."
Leo snickered again. "That must have been interesting. And what's wrong with your eyes?" Calypso elbowed him for being rude.
I frowned. "What do you mean? What do they look like now?"
"Oh,right, the whole blind thing. Uh,they're kind amber-ish like a wolf's and they have slit cat pupils like the magic dude's." Leo struggled to explain.
Magnus crossed his arms. "The magic dude has a name you know."
"Eh,they have a tendency to shift."
"Oh."
Nico blinked and propped himself up on his elbows. "What-oh,good morning. Raven,I thought that I told you not to wake me up." Well, judging by the Italian accent,it was definitely Nico. He has a distinctive accent. It's nice, really. Not all weird like mine.
I shrugged. "I'm not even the one that woke you up today."
"Oh. Why is everyone staring?" Everyone looked away quickly. I retracted my wings so they wouldn't be in the way. They can literally be hidden within my skin. Yeah, then after an argument with Hae-Joon at breakfast when he tried to get me to eat,I didn't talk to anybody and just glared at him. Pretty much the usual.
Around afternoon, everyone filed out and us demigods shadow traveled back to Camp. I had a delightful time kicking my brothers' and cousins' butts while sparring. They were surprised to learn that I trained in various martial arts and that I could fight excellently with a trident and various other weapons. They were even more surprised to learn that I was good at archery. Morons. You would think that they would have learned to expect it by now. Oh well, boys will be boys, especially seaweed brained brothers.
Rachel's pov
I arrived at Camp Half Blood,my part time home, and was immediately greeted by an enthusiastic son of Poseidon and his less enthusiastic girlfriend. Three other guys were with him,all good looking Asians with dark hair and blue or green eyes, maybe even siblings. One looked about Percy's age,the other two were definitely twins and looked pretty young, maybe twelve or thirteen.
"Rachel!" Percy exclaimed, green eyes sparkling. "It's great to see you again."
I chuckled and raised an eyebrow. "I see that you're not still mad about me drawing on your pillow."
He laughed too. "Nope."
"So,who are these guys with you? I think I recognize the oldest one,but the twins are new."
"Oh! Right." Percy sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. "This is Hae-Joon, Elijah, and Noah. They're my brothers. Their sister is somewhere around here, probably training Nico or beating some other poor demigod in a fight......."
"Wow," I held up my hands in a time-out sign." You have how many siblings? And they're all biological?"
"Yeah," he grinned, but frowned a little as a new thought crossed his mind. "The four of them are biological siblings, the Rhyoo family. Anna Kim from the Aphrodite cabin is their cousin from their mother's side. But there's something I've got to tell you."
"Go ahead,I'm listening."
"I'll tell her Percy," said the oldest one. He gave me a friendly smile. "Hi, I'm Hae-Joon." His name certainly sounded foreign, even though he had a New York accent. "What Percy was going to say was that my siblings, cousin and I are a type of non blood drinking vampires."
I was stunned. Vampires? Percy fidgeted nervously. The boy shook my hand, and I noted that his skin was actually quite warm. "Hae-Joon, I've been meaning to ask you something."
The other teenager smiled, amused. "Were you going to ask if I had wings too?" Percy nodded, but I was just more confused.
"Well," he said,"the answer to that is yes. The twins won't get them until they're sixteen or so,and we inherited them from Boreas and Thanatos."
"Can I see them?"
There was a ripping sound, and two azure blue wings like those of a blue Jay or kingfisher emerged from the boy's back. They were huge, about fourteen, maybe fifteen, feet across in all. I watched in awe, imprinting the image in my mind so I could paint it later.
"They're so big," I murmered, entranced. Maybe it was his legendary hypnotic vampire charm,if that exists, or maybe I was just in shock, but I didn't realize that I spoke out loud until he laughed again.
"Yeah, they are. It can be a nuisance sometimes,it's a good thing they retract. My sister's wings are bigger though. They're pure black, like the wings of Thanatos himself. If you want, I could take you to meet her."
"Sure," I muttered.
Hae-Joon led me over to the cliffside, where the son of Hades was sitting beside a girl that looked about his age, even though she seemed older, just like Nico did. Nico's skin was still ghostly pale, and he looked like he didn't eat much.Everything about him was dark, his hair, his eyes, his clothes, his general disposition, and the daughter of Poseidon seemed no different. Her skin was darker tanned than her brothers',kind of this dark russet brown with the slightest hint of gold. Her curved catlike eyes were black instead of green, and we're filled with extreme intelligence. She was impossibly beautiful, but seemed like she hated it. Her thick ,ebony, blue streaked hair swept across her high cheekboned face, covering part of it,and she had black combat boots, black jeans,a black shirt, and a black leather jacket with spikes, along with silver jewelry that included a skull ring that matched Nico's, the only difference being that it had sapphire eyes. Dark circles that Nico himself would be jealous of underlined her feline eyes with their distinct outline, and they had the same dark, brooding look, the same manic fire in their eyes. Hae-Joon's sister was just more exotic looking. And she definitely did not sparkle.
In all honesty,it seemed much more likely that she was a daughter of Hades, than a daughter of Poseidon. Hae-Joon knew this,I could see it in his eyes. "Are you sure she isn't adopted?" I joked, trying to lighten the dark atmosphere surrounding the two cousins from different realms.
"Yeah,I'm sure." The dark friends stood to greet me.
"Nico, can you describe the newcomer to me?"she asked. Huh,strange request. Another strange thing was her voice. It was silky smooth, but unlike her brother's,was definitely foreign,a mix of Asian and something else.
Another strange thing: Nico actually carried out her request. "Her name is Rachel Elizabeth Dare, she's the Oracle. Wild red hair and paint spattered clothes with random doodles everywhere."
"Hm," the girl mused. "Well, hello Rachel. I'm Raven. And if you're wondering why I asked Nico to describe you,I'm blind."
I blinked. Hae-Joon didn't mention that. "Well, your brother brought me here because we were talking about your wings." We'll get to the vampire part later.
She nodded, and without warning, fully extended her feathered appendages. They were a pure, glossy, incredibly dark black, almost purple or blue, just like the wings of her namesake. But unlike a raven's,they were kind of pointed and tapered, long and built for speed. Nico didn't react at all, like this was all perfectly normal.
We talked a bit, well,I talked, but Hae-Joon had to leave for something. So I got out my sketchpad and started to draw, capturing every detail of that unnervingly perfect face. None of her other skin was visible, except for her hands, not even her neck. I noticed a tiny notch next to her left eye. That little imperfection made her seem so much more real.
It was such a perfect scene, the unusual vampire and the reclusive Ghost King, side by side on the edge of the cliff, the sea breeze ruffling Nico's already messy hair and the setting sun painting the sky and the surface of the ocean with a dizzying array of colors. It seemed like the two friends were just enjoying the sunset, and that's what I thought until I remembered that Raven couldn't see.
Still,Raven seemed able to detect the chqnge in light. She looked up,where the constellation of the Huntress was splashed across the darkening twilight sky,the last rays of the sun on the edges of the horizon. After so much silence, like she had been waiting for this moment,Raven spoke, just three simple words. "Bob says hello."
Raven stayed out long after curfew, like the rules didn't apply to her. And I guess they didn't,because no harpies came after her. She waited at the edge of the cliff, talking with two blue apparitions. Ghosts. So maybe she was an adopted child of Hades.
The next morning,I woke up in my cave with a sticky note stuck to my forehead. I peeled it off, only to realize that it was written backwards, like whoever was writing it had anticipated for me to read it in a mirror. So I stuck it back on my forehead and found a small mirror. The note said:
Hey Rachel. You fell asleep in some bushes while playing the role of my stalker, not that I'm not used to it. Believe me,I've been stalked before. And if you do it again, just know that I can kick your ass. I beat Ares when I was nine. I groaned at that. She was sassy, just like the son of Poseidon that I knew best. I brought you back to your cave because I'm fairly sure that you don't want to be eaten by harpies. The writing was surprisingly neat, especially for a blind person. Anyways,Raven out. Annyeong. PS,that's the English spelling of goodbye in Korean. I guess that old habits die hard.
