Dear Jenny,
I wake up pressed against Anna and for the briefest of moments, I forget who we are and almost kiss her. Her face is angelic as she sleeps and the way her hair fans across her pillow like she's some goddess I'm supposed to worship drives me insane. She's gorgeous and that exactly why is so important I find her a guy to kiss. You and I talked about me meeting someone else, but Anna cannot be that someone else. Not only would I feel guilty, Anna would never forgive herself. I know she wouldn't.
As much as it pains me, Anna is better off with someone else. Someone who will make her feel loved without the complications of having loved her best friend too.
"Hmm."
Anna stirs and unknowingly pushes her ass into my crotch, making me—
Fuck!
I'm hard, Jenny!
I scramble for space, needing this situation to deescalate right fucking now!
"Harry?" she asks, drunk on sleep.
Shit!
"Yeah?"
"What time is it?"
I grit my teeth, desperate for my erection to vanish.
"Umm—seven am."
She nods and turns around, losing some of the duvet on her way. I forgot I took her T-shirt off last night and am certainly kicking myself for it right now. Her chest looks amazing in her lace bra. We left the air con on through the night and her nipples are straining against the material.
Fuck, fuck, fuck!
I force my gaze away, needing some clarity. Some rationality. This can't be happening!
"Are you okay?" she asks, slowly opening her eyes.
"Fine," I insist, anything but. "Think I might have a shower and call the airport. See about getting us on the next flight to Berlin."
She smiles. Fuck—that smile, Jenny.
"I'll call room service while you're showing. What do you want?"
"I'll have what you're having," I respond.
I need her to look away. I can't leave the bed while she's staring at me. She'll notice my friend straight away.
"Are you sure you're okay?" she asks. "You're acting strange."
"I'm fine."
"Is it because we shared a bed?" she interrogates. "Because you shouldn't feel guilty. Nothing happened."
Apart for me getting hard!
"Jen wouldn't be mad about this."
She certainly wouldn't be happy about it.
"Harry!"
"I'm hard, Anna!"
She frowns, unsure what to make of my revelation.
"You're—what?"
I sigh. "Morning wood."
She suddenly giggles and I swear it doesn't help the situation in the slightest.
"Oh."
Oh, indeed!
"Well, that's fine. Most guys wake up with morning wood, right?"
I shrug. "I feel—I don't know what I feel."
"Guilty?" she questions.
I nod.
"Why?"
"Because Jenny's dead and here I am, sharing a bed with her best friend and getting an erection!"
She laughs again, only this time, I find myself laughing too.
"It's not funny!" I insist, still chuckling.
She buries her head in the pillow, silencing her laughter.
"Can you—"
"Can I what?" she enquires, lifting her head.
"Stop making adorable sounds. It's not helping."
She sits up. "Wait! Is my laughter turning you on?"
A smirk breaks though.
"It's certainly not helping," I say. "In fact, if you could just morph into my grandma for a minute, that'd be great!"
She throws a pillow at my head, and the impact sends me flying.
"Harry fucking Hudson!" she heckles. "Sort your penis out!"
"Stop talking dirty to me, Anna!" I joke.
Okay—I'll admit—I'm flirting with her, but there's no harm in that, right?
Right, Jenny?
"Go take a cold shower and I'll order us some breakfast," she suggests, smirking.
I stand up and the second she sees it, she bursts out laughing.
"That's the reaction every guy wants when a girl sees his dick," I say.
She immediately covers her mouth, muffling her amusement. "Sorry."
"No, you're not," I smirk, padding my way towards the bathroom.
"Would it help if I told you it was big?" she asks.
I turn on the shower, purposely keeping the temperature cool. "Yes!"
"It's huge!" she roars.
I slam the door shut, smiling like a goddamn idiot. I can't remember the last time I felt this happy. This amused. Life has been sort of grey since you left us, Jenny, and this morning Anna has added colour to it. Her teasing is a refreshing take on my otherwise depressing mood. In fact, come to think of it, this morning was the first time I've woken up and not thought about you straight away.
Shit!
The sooner I find this guy for Anna, the better. This morning was fun, but I can't let it get out of hand. I can't give Anna the impression we can ever be more than just friends.
I won't peruse your best friend, Jenny.
Anna is off limits!
Love you always,
Harry.
