Chapter 17

As soon as Jungkook let the older one escape from his embrace, Jimin felt empty again, already missing Jungkook's warm hugs the second he said with his gentle voice, "Hyung, I think we gotta go, I'm sorry for dragging you here." After he said that, he chuckled, and Jimin just had to shake his head, a smile on his face as he placed a hand on Jungkook's cheek, looking at him lovingly.

"It's fine. I don't mind if we go to class late. I have you, and now that I think about it, I just want to skip classes for today and just stay with you." As much as he tried to act cute, Jungkook just shook his head, not falling for Jimin's tricks.

"I want the best for you, so you should go to class, don't skip it. Education comes first then I can come next," Jungkook smiled and couldn't help but notice Jimin trying not to turn red. Jungkook's just so adorable, he didn't even know Jimin tried his best not to combust. Sometimes, Jungkook acted more mature than him and Jimin liked that side of him.

Hoping Jungkook would ditch classes with him for that day and just stay at home and chill, Jimin didn't expect Jungkook to say those words. He was hoping the younger one would rather prefer playing games with him at home, or just grab anything he wanted to eat from Jimin's fridge, or just take a nap so Jimin could see his beautiful features, but he bet Jungkook wouldn't let him do that because Jungkook was the type to drag you and force you to sleep right next to him, too, so you wouldn't be all alone enjoying watching him sleep. He'd want you to sleep next to him, but that never happened to Jimin. He just secretly hoped it was him who'd pull Jungkook's arm to drag him to the nearest couch and take a nap with him, instead of Taehyung. It always happened when they'd get invited to Jin's house to catch up.

"But my parents won't be home the whole week. We can play all the games you always want to play...you can eat everything you see in my fridge, Kookie, just be with me for today," Jimin wasn't aware of how desperate he sounded not until Jungkook kissed his left cheek again and he wanted to scream in frustration. Was he supposed to be mad because Jungkook wasn't listening, or was he supposed to embarrassed because he just made a fool out of himself? Maybe even happy because Jungkook was now whispering in his ears and he just wanted to hide again.

"Not today, okay, hyung? Maybe next time, I promise," Jungkook kissed his cheek one last time before he fixed Jimin's shirt along with his before he opened the door, letting the light go in, and Jimin just had to use his hands to shield his face.

Just as they were going to go out with Jimin wanting to hold Jungkook's hand but not finding enough courage to do so, they heard a gentle voice nearby the moment they stepped out the tiny room with the cold air hitting Jimin's skin once again. Both Jungkook and Jimin looked to the side just to be greeted by a cute girl with dark brown hair that reached her waist, and when she caught a glimpse of Jimin, her face lit up, her dark brown eyes sparkling.

"Jimin?"

The moment her voice reached Jungkook's ears, his guards immediately went up, not even caring if he looked overprotective the moment he brought Jimin close to him, holding his hand tight, letting the older one look at him in surprise. Taking advantage of the fact that he was taller than Jimin, he pulled Jimin right next to him, almost hiding him, before Jimin spoke up.

"Yes? That's me," he managed to say, biting his lip because he had no idea what was about to happen. The girl smiled even wider, opening her bag, letting out one paper that was folded neatly, and to Jimin, it looked like a letter.

To Jungkook, it looked like a letter.

"Uhm...I just wanted to know if you got the rest of my letters..." she said, all shy, coming closer and Jimin's eyes were wide this time. Jungkook didn't even know what was going on the moment Jimin let go of his hand just to receive the letter from her with him smiling so wide that it made Jungkook confused.

"What's your name?" Jimin asked her, and Jungkook couldn't help but feel like a third wheeler, even noticing the red tint on her cheeks. Jimin sounded so interested and his voice was high and chirpy, he somehow wanted Jimin to talk that way with him, too. She said her name, but Jungkook was too busy looking at Jimin's reaction to take note of her name. She looked like she was around their age, and Jungkook was sure he'd seen her around a couple of times.

He must've blanked out for a long time, Jungkook thought to himself because the next thing he heard was her laughing and Jimin laughing along with her that it rang in Jungkook's ears.

"So I'll see you this Friday?" she asked, hope in her voice and that certain spark in her eyes and maybe it was Jimin's heart and kind nature which forced him to answer with a smile and a small nod.

"I'll see you," Jimin laughed somemore, his eyes forming into two crescent moons as he held the letter tight, not letting go of it. He made sure not to lose it. "Take care," he said as she skipped her way to class in a hurry, waving goodbye with a big smile on her face as her hair swayed from left to right.

As her figure disappeared, Jimin wanted to open the letter, but Jungkook's grip on his arm let him stop and meet eyes with the younger one.

"What's wrong?"

"Are you really going?" Jungkook asked, and it was obvious he was worried. When Jimin laughed, Jungkook's heart just broke. "This Friday?"

"I think so, I mean, yes! Jungkook, she's been sending me letters. It was her all along!" Jimin looked like he was about to scream, but he kept it in and hid his face with the light pink paper folded neatly.

Light pink.

"Why? What if something happens...what if you know..." Jungkook trailed off, hoping Jimin would get it, but Jimin just laughed somemore. "I'm serious here, hyung. Stop laughing."

"I'm not, it's just- it's funny seeing you like this. You're adorable," Jimin pinched his cheek, still chuckling, but Jungkook sighed and placed Jimin's hand down because he wasn't in the mood to laugh now that Jimin's going to a girl's house on a Friday night and anything could happen, and he didn't want that.

"Do you want to come with me then? You know, when I go there, do you want to drop me off and wait for me?"

As much as it sounded inviting, it would seem as if Jungkook was the controlling, possessive, clingy type of friend or whatever he was to Jimin, and he didn't want to seem that way, so he just hesitated, not really giving a proper answer.

"Is that a yes?" Jimin asked, holding Jungkook's hand as the other one was still clutching onto the letter she gave. He massaged Jungkook's knuckles with his thumb and he seemed to notice that he calmed down. "Come on, please?"

"Can we just take the offer you were saying a while ago of me going to your house and skipping classes? I want that. Forget about Friday," Jungkook whined, now pouting, but that just earned him a laugh and another pinch on the cheek. "Come on, hyung, let's go home."

"Now? I already said I'd meet her this Friday which is two days from now, Jungkook. What's wrong? Why don't you want me to go with her?" Jimin sighed, looking at Jungkook intently that Jungkook had to look away almost immediately.

"Because..." Jungkook said as if that was the most intelligent answer ever and he didn't need to explain it in detail. In fact, he just didn't need to explain. Jimin should get it. Jimin was smarter than that.

"Give me one reason why I shouldn't meet her. A justifiable explanation why I shouldn't," Jimin let Jungkook face him, so Jungkook answered the first thing that went through his mind that moment, and even though he knew it would sound ridiculous, he didn't care.

"Because you love me more than her and you just met her three minutes ago, while us? We've known each other for more than three years, isn't that good enough?" Jungkook felt defeated, but he still remained cool and let Jimin stroke his fingers. "Do you want me to explain even further because I have thousands of reasons why you should be with me and not her."

"Jungkook..." Jimin sighed for the nth time, giving the younger one a small smile. "That's true. We've known each other for more than three years, but can't I give her a chance? She's been giving me letters for months and I can't just turn her down."

"What if it's not her who's been giving you those letters?" Jungkook said this time, his voice serious that Jimin's eyebrows furrowed. When Jungkook realized what he said, he placed his hands to his sides, not letting Jimin hold him anymore, but the older one reached out and took hold of both of his hands once again when he saw Jungkook back away.

"Wait, don't go. What do you mean?" Jimin asked, but Jungkook just shook his head, not in the mood to do anything or think about anything. He just wanted to be with Jimin, but it seemed as if Jimin didn't quite get where he was going, what he wanted, what he needed - he just wanted to be with Jimin, why was that so hard to understand?

"Nothing," Jungkook looked down, but he smiled when he looked back up not a second later. "Okay then, I'll see you tomorrow. Have fun with her, okay? Don't miss me too much," he joked just to ease the tension, just to hide those stupid tears that were about to fall off his eyes, just to avoid this topic and Jimin's sad eyes that were on him, and just forget the fact that one girl Jimin met just a few minutes ago was more important than him and he was nothing, just like his answer.

Nothing.

"Jungkook..."

"I'll stop by Jin hyung's house later on, you should come," he had to cut Jimin off because if he didn't, no one else would. If no one did, it would hurt more. Jungkook hated how much his heart would hurt just by thinking about Jimin's laughter, his smiles, his presence, and almost everything that would remind him of Jimin would make him feel like he was being stabbed in the chest, but it wasn't like anyone cared. He hated being last on someone's list, and coming second after this pretty girl with dark brown hair and a cute smile made him feel like garbage. It didn't feel right. Something was off, but Jimin didn't realize it. "Bye."

"Jungkook, stop it. Don't go all 'bye' on me, just stop it," Jimin sighed once more, not really wanting to argue with Jungkook because that would break him. The last time they argued, Jimin didn't get enough sleep for a week and a half and he didn't want to eat anything; all he wanted was for Jungkook to call him, but whenever Jungkook did, Jimin wouldn't answer. He didn't get himself. He was just scared that Jungkook would cut all ties with him if he answered his phone calls and he knew he wouldn't be able to handle it. Handle himself. "You're important to me, I just...give me time, I-" Jimin stopped and just hugged Jungkook like that would solve the problem. When he didn't feel Jungkook hugging him back, he cried. "Jungkook, hug me."

"I don't trust her," Jungkook answered, his voice cold, and Jimin deserved to know the truth. "She's planning something."

"I don't care already, just- Just hug me," Jimin said once more, but he didn't feel Jungkook's strong arms around his waist and it hurt a lot. "Jungkook."

Though he always wanted to avoid Jimin, he knew it was hard. He knew at the end of the day he'd still find himself empty and the next thing he'd know is that he'd be bringing his phone to his ears and he'd be greeted by Jimin's quiet "Hello, Jungkook" in the dark, as the older one would giggle and say with his sweet voice, "It's late, my parents are asleep. I miss you." It hurt so much Jungkook actually thought everything was messed up, that he was messed up, and everything was crazy.

"Miss me?" Jungkook would ask Jimin when they were supposed to be asleep, and he'd hear Jimin laugh and shuffle in his bed.

"A lot," Jimin would say, and Jungkook would guess that Jimin would be smiling because he always felt Jimin's smiles though he would be on the other side of the line.

So that's why Jungkook found himself embracing Jimin again because Jimin was his weakness, and his heart would clench all over again.

"I'll walk you home later on. We're so late now, we missed 35 minutes," Jungkook forced himself to smile, facing Jimin as he broke the hug. "Still in the mood to skip or do you still wanna..." he didn't even finish his sentence before Jimin hit his arm already, chuckling.

"Are you crazy? I'd rather go home!" Jimin smiled, showing his teeth, and they both shared a look. Jimin wiggled his eyebrow, saying, "Wanna meet my younger brother today? He misses you. We could have fun with him, too."

"Do I look decent enough? Do I look okay?" Jungkook said, suddenly insecure.

Jimin just looked at him, biting back his laughter.

"Always."
