Chapter 38

"Hi, Jungkookie."

Jimin stood in front of the younger one, greeting him with a small wave and his shy smile. His cheeks were dusted pink, from his neck, and all the way to the tips of his ears. His eyes formed two crescent moons as Jungkook mirrored his smile, opening the door wide to take a better look at him.

It was cold outside as winter came faster than they thought, Jimin wearing a different outfit than what he wore with Taehyung just a few hours prior, now sporting a comfy black winter jacket that seemed to swallow him up, making him look tiny, with a big red and black scarf that was wrapped around his neck, covering his mouth to the tip of his nose. He chuckled softly, rubbing his hands together to create warmth, and that's when Jungkook realized Jimin had sweater paws, his fingers barely seen underneath the clothing he wore.

So adorable.

"Jimin hyung."

Jungkook couldn't even hide that bunny smile he always has when Jimin's there with him, and his heart stopped beating for a split second as he just stared at Jimin in front of him. Even Jimin's presence made him too starstruck ㅡ he was so handsome, so magical, so surreal, Jungkook's breath hitched.

"Come in, hyung. You're gonna freeze outside," Jungkook had to open the door wider to let Jimin in, the older one setting his shoes to the side as he rubbed his hands once more, blowing on them only for Jungkook to continue, "Hyung, I made hot chocolate for you to keep you warm. My room's warmer, but I hope you're not feeling too cold."

"N-No, I'm fine, Jungkook, thank you," Jimin stuttered out, partly because he was starting to feel warm inside, too, and he blamed it on the fact that Jungkook was wearing a black turtleneck that showed off the outline of his broad shoulders and the expanse of his chest. Even underneath the clothing he was wearing, Jimin could still make up how toned his arms were, just how good he looked, and seeing him looking so handsome like that made his breath hitch, too. Jungkook didn't seem to notice Jimin discreetly looking at him, but Jimin silently thanked Jungkook for taking his thick jacket off of him, his body starting to overheat with it, as Jungkook hung it somewhere. All the while, he couldn't help but smile at how much of a gentleman Jungkook was.

"Here," Jungkook smiled, holding his hand softly and wrapping Jimin's fingers around the cup. "Be careful. It's quite hot."

The comforting smell of the hot chocolate wafting in the air reached Jimin's senses, but his stomach churned in a way he didn't quite get. Maybe it was the way Jungkook was biting his bottom lip and guiding Jimin up the stairs, his hands in his pockets and the curiosity stuck to Jimin, not wanting to go away. Jungkook looked back and gave him a sweet smile, holding his hand out for Jimin to take, their fingers grazing ever so slightly as they ascended up the stairs.

"I wonder what you're gonna show me," Jimin let out a weak laugh, only for Jungkook to chuckle.

"Shh, it's a secret, hyung," the younger teased, his tone playful. They reached the long hallway with their silent footsteps reaching their ears, and Jimin's wide eyes took in the sight of the picture frames Jungkook had, adding color to the plain white color of the walls.

Jimin couldn't help but smile as he stared at Jungkook's family pictures, stopping for a second to let his fingers graze slowly at one specific picture showing a little version of Jungkook, probably when he was five, smiling so brightly with that bunny smile of his. Sporting a red and yellow cap on his head, a red shirt and a pair of shorts, Jungkook held the lollipop as he was in between his parents. His mother was on his right, bringing him close with a hand on his shoulder, and his father with one hand on Jungkook's head as if patting it softly like he was doing a very good job, like he was being such a good boy. Both of them had huge smiles plastered on their faces.

"Jimin hyung, what are you looking at?" Jungkook's voice flooded Jimin's ears, the hallway dimly lit, but Jimin could still make up the younger's figure coming closer to him. Jimin's eyes scanned the picture once more. It was funny how both of Jungkook's parents were so good-looking, it made Jungkook look hilariously good-looking as well, like he just came out of a comic book to make Jimin's life better. When Jungkook stood right next to the older one, he understood why Jimin had to stop following him.

"You like this, huh? I was five," he chuckled, liking the way Jimin grinned, looking at him with his dark brown eyes filled with happiness.

"I guessed right," Jimin replied, laughing a bit. "It's so cute."

"I could give you some of my baby pictures," Jungkook thought with his shy smile, using one of his hands to massage Jimin's shoulder soothingly. Jimin held onto his hand tight. "So you could just stare at them and maybe smile, laugh, I don't know, just anything to make you feel happy when I'm not around," he chuckled, and Jimin followed him to his room as he held the hot chocolate in his hands, walking baby steps behind the younger one.

"I'll give you some of mine, too," Jimin spoke up the moment he closed Jungkook's door behind him, finding that the room was dimly lit, like the hallway. As if the younger one read his mind, Jimin squinted his eyes as the curtains were opened, Jungkook's back facing him and Jimin smiled as Jungkook turned to him with that innocent eyesmile not a minute later.

"Is it better now, hyung?" Jungkook asked, and Jimin didn't know where the brightness was coming from. He started to question if it really came from the setting sun outside or just Jungkook himself because he was definitely brighter than the sun, his warmth enveloping the older one just right. With that question still in mind, Jimin forced himself not to get distracted as he shook his head for a brief second before looking at Jungkook better, nodding his head as an answer, which earned him an even brighter smile from the younger one. Jungkook walked his way to the shorter male, his height towering over him, making the older one look up at him with glistening eyes. Jimin almost hated the height difference as that would make him seem more fragile and weak, but right now, he didn't care. In fact, whenever he'd be with Jungkook, he wouldn't care about it that much anymore. The younger one held Jimin's hands in his, caressing his knuckles soothingly. His hold was so gentle, so right, it almost made the older one melt right there and then. "Jimin hyung, you gotta close your eyes. I have a surprise for you."

Jimin was clearly shocked, but the look in Jungkook's dark brown eyes told him to trust him, not to worry, to just wait and expect what he was about to show him, patiently, so the next second, Jimin let out one small chuckle before closing his eyes tight.

He didn't know why, but he could feel Jungkook smiling as the younger one let him turn around, making him take careful steps to where he was leading him, till he turned right and Jungkook had to speak up.

"Stop right...here," the deep rumbling of Jungkook's voice reached Jimin's ears, as he just relied on his hearing since he couldn't see. The gentle squeeze on his shoulders and the feeling of Jungkook's hands reaching down his arms slowly from the back, ignited a fire within him. As if Jungkook could read his mind, he leaned closer till Jimin's back was pressed up against him, sending sparks and an electric current to flow through the older one. Jimin felt Jungkook grab onto something and his thoughts were right when he felt some kind of blanket fall and pool at his feet. Without further ado, Jungkook bent down to whisper in Jimin's ears, his voice husky and laced with honey. "You can open your eyes now, hyung."

Jimin tried his best to ignore that stupid feeling in his stomach that made him feel certain things, and by opening his eyes slowly, he knew he forgot those said things because now he was speechless, his mouth slightly agape and his eyes fixated only on the huge canvas in front of him.

"How did youㅡ Whoㅡ Whyㅡ Jungkook this is soㅡ When did you do this?" Jimin tried so hard to come up with a sentence that would make sense at least, but not now that Jungkook had some tricks up his sleeves and didn't even warn the older one of possibly getting diabetes or dying of drowning in someone's love and adoration. Jimin was completely shocked as he stared at the painting that was displayed right in front of him, and as much as he wanted to say something, all the words he wanted to let out were stuck in his throat, not wanting to escape as if they had a mind of their own. "Jungkook, it's so beautiful."

His fingers grazed the painting as he admired all the colors on the huge canvas, the colors transitioning into nothing but vibrant shades of pink and peach and all things pastel-like that it made him feel soft inside and turn into goo internally. The sharp edges, yet, the gentle lines on the white canvas giving a fine accent to what Jimin thought and what Jimin knew, was him.

"Is it?" Jungkook managed to say despite the nervousness evident in his voice. He walked a few steps closer to Jimin who was admiring the painting with tears welling up in his eyes. Jimin couldn't take this. He was desperately holding onto that thought ㅡ that thought that involved him and Jungkook and what they might become, and what they will have if they decided to step up and do something about their current situation because the more they continue playing this game, the more it would hurt. Jimin wanted more and Jungkook knew it because he's known Jimin for years and reading him is like knowing the back of his hand. Jungkook wanted more and Jimin was willing to commit to it. "It's beautiful because it's you, Jimin."

Jimin smiled as he looked at the painting, looked at the painting Jungkook did himself, of Jimin looking into the distance with a smile on his face, his beautiful and gentle features captured and painted right on the canvas as if it was happening right there and then, as if it came to life. It felt like reality was playing right in front of Jimin's eyes as he looked at himself from Jungkook's innocent point of view, and Jimin wondered if that was really how the younger viewed him: pure, angelic, sweet. What else was there in him that made Jungkook paint this so beautifully? Jimin was picking out some of the best qualities he had that he could think of, but he found none. Jungkook thought so highly of him, it made Jimin's heart ache with so much love for the younger one. His heart was so beautiful and pure, he just didn't know what made Jungkook do such a thing, and it touched him. Jungkook had a heart of a young child, like his heart didn't know anything but love, like there was no space for hatred, anger and emptiness and that's all Jimin wished: for Jungkook to keep being like this. Jimin wanted Jungkook to retain that light inside of him because he was the light Jimin needed in his life, the only thing that filled the void that was inside of him, and Jimin, as sure as he was, didn't need anything else.

The older one took a moment before he turned around and met Jungkook's dark brown eyes that contained a sea of sadness, maybe because of all the worrying, thinking that Jimin wouldn't like his painting, but there was something more ㅡ something so perfect, like Jimin was lost in a galaxy full of constellations, bright and magnificent, enchanting. Jimin saw Jungkook's dreams reflecting in his eyes, so full of hope, love, that the next thing Jimin remembered was him taking a few steps forward only to capture Jungkook's soft lips, both of his hands holding Jungkook in place, feeling his cheeks, his jaw with the tips of his fingertips, with his eyes closed. It took a few seconds to register in Jungkook's head how Jimin was kissing him so passionately, it almost felt like a vague dream, like a hazy memory, and it dawned to him how long they've last kissed this deeply. With that thought in mind, he, too, closed his eyes slowly, bringing both of his hands to rest on Jimin's hips. He pulled him in and encircled his arms around the older's waist, their chests touching, the warmth spreading all throughout their bodies, a spark igniting, a fire burning so hot, it hurt so good. It felt so right, so perfect, Jungkook could only feel how fast the older's heart was beating against his ribcage, and Jungkook was happy to say that his heart was doing the same.

A giggle left Jungkook's lips in the middle of their kiss that Jimin pulled away just a tiny bit, licking his bottom lip as he stared at Jungkook's own, before his gaze followed the younger's eyes, and a playful smile was crawling up his lips seeing Jungkook smiling childishly.

"Baby, why are you laughing?" Jimin whispered softly, searching his wide, innocent, dark brown orbs that made Jungkook look like a child with cute charms. The younger's face was flushed, a faint pink dusting both of his cheeks that Jimin couldn't help but kiss them, one by one, before smiling wide and tiptoeing to kiss the tip of Jungkook's nose.

"Nothing, I'm justㅡ" Jungkook smiled somemore, feeling Jimin tiptoe once again to kiss his forehead, both of his hands holding Jungkook in place, and the next moment, Jungkook's cheeks were squished as he found the right words to say. He resembled an adorable bunny that second, but now it was Jimin's turn to giggle. "ㅡI just love you so much," Jungkook continued with squished cheeks, and Jimin didn't plan on letting go of them just yet.

Jimin stopped peppering his face with kisses as he grinned wider, only to close his eyes to kiss Jungkook somemore, as if that was the only thing he loved doing, along with his arms around Jungkook's neck, bringing him in closer because that was how much he needed the younger one to be there for him. His existence was so important in Jimin's life that it reached a point where Jungkook was Jimin's oxygen and he needed to breathe in Jungkook, his life, his everything ㅡ it was insane.

"Baby, I love you so much," Jungkook whispered as he pulled away for a few seconds to kiss Jimin's forehead, and right after he said that, their eyes met and Jimin swore he wanted to cry right there and then. He couldn't explain it ㅡ both of them couldn't explain it. That ache in your chest when you're with the one you love so dearly, with all of your heart and being, and everything seems so perfect like your other half was the missing puzzle piece you needed to make your life complete. Jimin was Jungkook's missing puzzle piece. Jungkook was Jimin's missing puzzle piece ㅡ they were good for each other. Jungkook wanted to swallow the doubt, the pain that was eager to slip past his lips, but he dared to swallow them as it stuck to his throat, not wanting to be shrugged off.

"Jungkook, what's wrong?" Jimin asked, worried, his eyebrows furrowing as Jungkook visibly tensed up. Fixing the younger's black turtleneck to ease the tension, Jimin piped up once more. "Baby? Hey, what's wrong? You know that I'm here for you, right? You can tell me anything," Jimin took in the sight of Jungkook frowning, his eyes slowly filling up with tears. "Jungkook, baby..."

"Jiminnie...I don't know, what if something screws up, would you still love me the same?" Jungkook looked at him seriously that Jimin couldn't help but open his mouth in shock, not believing what the younger one was saying.

"Of course, Jungkook. I love you. I love you so much, okay?" Jimin had to remind him again, his eyes stinging a bit just thinking about all the problems that could possibly happen, but he pushed them aside as he focused on Jungkook right in front of him. Nothing bad would happen to them.

I believe in us, Jimin whispered to himself like he was giving himself a pat on the back to make everything feel better, even just a bit. I believe you, Jungkook.

"You know what? Nothing bad will happen to us. Do you trust me?" Jimin gave Jungkook a sweet smile, his smile growing even wider when Jungkook pursed his lips, nodding his head like a baby with Jimin kissing his forehead once more.

"Hyung, of course I do. I trust you so much, I'd give my life to you," the younger one chuckled when Jimin tickled him, telling him not to say such things so carelessly. "I trust you. I love you."

The day went by so quick that when it was time to go, Jungkook walked Jimin out of his door, offering that he'd walk him home. "It's too cold outside, you should stay," Jungkook whispered as he followed the older one down the stairs, but Jimin insisted that he could walk home alone. "You should rest, Kookie," Jimin replied, but the younger really, really wanted the older to stay the night. Jimin refused.

"You know, I really want to stay the night, but wouldn't I be such a burden?" Jimin joked just as they were walking on the pavement, different kinds of stores and cafés all lined up right next to them like soldiers, the snow blocking some parts of the pathway as if they, too, didn't want Jimin to leave. "And you need to rest, Jungkook. I promise I'll call you when I reach home."

"Would it really hurt to stay the night? I won't hurt you, you know," Jungkook joked back, chuckling as they stopped, seeing that the red light signaled for them to wait for their turn to cross. Jimin stared at the cars passing by as they stood side by side, the cold biting at his skin. "Jiminnie?" Jungkook called him.

He turned his head to the side, only to feel Jungkook hold his hand, intertwining their fingers slowly as they fit just right.

Jimin's heart leaped. He didn't expect Jungkook to do such thing, but the next second, Jungkook placed their intertwined hands inside his coat pocket, holding Jimin's hand tighter than ever before.

"I told you it's cold," Jungkook's deep voice resounded in Jimin's ears, his gaze travelling up to scan Jungkook's sharp features this time as the younger looked down to meet his gaze. "I'll keep you warm."

Jimin's cheeks were painted a faint pink, appreciating Jungkook's kindness and warmth. He bit his lip as he avoided the younger's gaze as he looked at the green light. Without thinking straight, he let go of Jungkook's hand and ran as fast as he could, crossing the street as he left Jungkook, surprised, still standing on the other side.

"Hey!" Jungkook screamed from the other end, frustrated because even though he stopped Jimin from running, he still did. Jimin laughed somemore, clutching his stomach from laughing too much. A confused Jungkook looked hilarous. "Why'd you let go?"

"I told you I could walk home by myself, Jungkook!" Jimin screamed back, smiling as Jungkook frowned. Panting, Jimin kneeled down to catch his breath from running and laughing.

In all honesty, Jimin felt guilty he wasn't able to show how much he actually loved Jungkook. The younger one's been saving him from trouble all this time, been there to let him stand on his own two feet again, been there to support him and love him unconditionally, and now he's here to drop him a wonderfully done painting and Jimin felt like he really needed to step up his game and give something in return. Jungkook's always said that Jimin gave him everything and that he didn't need anything else, but inside, Jimin felt like he didn't give him enough. He gave Jungkook his love, his trust, but he wanted to at least prepare something at home, anything to make Jungkook feel like he was appreciated, too. Thinking about this, he decided to run and leave Jungkook there, confused, saying he could go home alone, but he wanted to surprise the younger one with a present as well.

"Hyung!" Jungkook yelled once more, pouting, "Don't leave me!" he continued, before he did the most stupid thing Jimin could ever think of.

"Hey! Jungkook, don'tㅡ" Jimin watched Jungkook run to reach him with a smile on his face, so bright, so Jungkook, that he couldn't even finish his sentence fast enough because something faster than light came flashing right in front of him, something Jimin couldn't unsee because the next thing he could remember was the loud scream that left his lips and blood pooling on the floor, and it didn't belong to anyone but Jungkook's.

Author's Note: I just want to say I'm sorry, but this is the end of the story ㅠㅠ

LMAO JUST KIDDING.

This isn't the end, I'm not that mean haha ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀ but I'm sorry for ending it this way for now, but you all know how a sad story always has problems before you get to the happy ending, right? yes, this is what's happening right now.

And I apologize for not updating this in ages, and I know you guys are probably getting bored/mad/frustrated/sad, but trust me, it will get better and I promise you'll see more character development from now on with a lot of drama (even more drama!), crying, but like any other story out there, it will have its happy side, so don't worry, but I'm just warning you in advance.

The real reason why I haven't been updating is because of all the stress (and other reasons) and even my doc said the stress is too much for me which is true because I know it's taking its toll on me. I love you guys and want the best updates for you, so please understand why it takes a long time to update, especially since I've been dealing with problems (these past few months have been hard for me.) Hospital shifts are long and exhausting and people around me in general have been hard to deal with that I'm shutting myself off from everyone for a bit.

To end this, I just want to say THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH for 100k views! This means a lot to me ㅠㅠ I never imagined for this story of mine to reach 100k views. I've been so down that I unpublished my other stories (around 40 stories including this one), but I thought of you guys and remembered that I wouldn't abandon this story. I decided to publish this one again. Now it's back.

I love you and take care, you guys! Don't be sick and make sure to rest and eat up and rehydrate yourselves~ ㅠㅠ

여러분 사랑해요
