Chapter twenty-three

The team was finally working right. Though, Pip has to admit to himself he still didn't feel comfortable with himself.

I suppose I never will.

Pip sighed.

Today. Today would be a real challenge.

Every day was a challenge for him, but today was an even bigger challenge for him.

Why?

He had no idea.

It was strange because he knew there was just something, but he didn't know what it was.

Maybe it was because a good majority of the squad was out doing who knows what.

And...the town seemed emptier than normal; almost like a zombie apocalypse.

Pip rooted through his things, paws in a bag.

He didn't know what he was looking for. He was rooting through his things because their leader informed them of something that was going to be happening.

Apparently one of the Greninja from the squad had been stalking the villains to check out what they were up to. They found out that Tudi and his pals were planning an assassination.

Of who?

None other than the alpha Pokémon themselves: Arceus.

Kinda seemed ambitious to Pip, but apparently it was what they were going to do, so now Pip and his friends had to prepare to face them off.

He even heard an old foe who died was there.

He grimaced.

He didn't want to face that bastard again. He took everything from him, and now he was about to take everything from everyone.

Despite being dead, his goal brought him back.

Pip shivered.

I'm going to give it all I've got, but how can I do that? I'm weak and powerless. I've barely done anything since coming here.

He then sighed, deciding on an action to take.

Before going to fight the villains—in what hopefully will be the final fight before they got captured or killed—Pip and his friends might have to train

....

No! We will train! We will become stronger and take them down! I'm not confident enough. This will bring me confidence! And maybe this would work.

The other members of the Squad were already out and about, practicing as much as they could.

Avalon had already attacked Pip today. With her moves.

If it wasn't for his friends he would be surrounded by more burns and mental scars.

He sighed as his flipper shook over the bag. There was something in his paws. In them were a couple of Blue Gummis.

He would be saving those gummis for later, though.

He placed them back in the bag.

"Boo!" Squeaked a familiar voice. One he hadn't talked to in a year? Or was it a couple of months?

Time flew fast when you were a part of the squad.

Pip turned around to see a grinning, waving Cygnus. He waved back.

The weirdly white-pink Teddiursa has his eyes closed, as if he was relishing something.

"What's up?" Pip asked him.

The Teddiursa put a paw on his chin.

"They'll find one more on the way. The one like me." Cygnus commented.

"What?" Pip asked.

Is the weirdly creepy Pokémon talking in riddles again?

Cygnus sighed, eyes closed in contempt.

"Nothing. Nothing."

"Today's the big day isn't it?" Cygnus asked, changing the topic.

Pip nodded.

He sank his teeth into his lip skin.

"You ready?"

Pip shook his head. "I don't think I'll ever be ready."

Cygnus was quiet for a second.

"Heh. I suppose I wouldn't either."

"..."

"..."

"Hey, look. I, uh, never told you what that hoodie could do. I explained it had powers didn't I?" Cygnus wondered.

Pip nodded his head, eyes on Cygnus.

What was so special about this hoodie anyways?

What'd it do?

"I'm listening." Pip resounded, eyes closed.

"What does it do?"

Cygnus sighed.

It was like he couldn't explain it without it sounding bad.

"What does it do?" The white-pink bear asked.

"Huh?" Pip asked him.

Cygnus chuckled.

"What did it do? I guess...you haven't found out yet."

"What?" Pip asked. "Does it...not do anything?"

"What?!" Cygnus exclaimed. "That's so stupid of course it does something!"

"Was it supposed to bring back my confidence? Is that what you were going to tell me? That it doesn't do anything, but yet it did something?" Pip asked, frustrated.

He wasn't letting the little bear finish anything.

The little bear shrugged his shoulders.

"I suppose." He said in a voice quieter than his normal loud horn-like voice.

"But," he began.

"No! You know what, don't even bother. I knew this sort of hocus pocus wasn't real!" Pip yelled, punching a wall.

His flipper turned a different color and a gash was now present on his paw.

Blood began to leak from it, but he didn't care. He was just so angry at this crazy Teddiursa.

The weird colored Teddiursa just shook his head.

"You're not letting me finish," he informed the Popplio, grabbing his paw before he could inject the wall with his anger again.

"What? You going to mention how it helped me get through rough times? Or mention how it he-" Pip continued to ramble before Cygnus placed a paw over his mouth.

"Look, do you want to know what it does or no?"

Cygnus seemed a little more on edge.

"Yes! Tell me what does it do?" Pip demanded sharply.

Cygnus sighed.

Is he seriously trying to give me more tension over this topic?

"Your hoodie? It's actually a being of power."

"Mhm. What power?"

"It prevents you from evolving." Cygnus remarked.

"What?!"

"And it waits until you're ready to evolve fully. You'll be one of the most...eheh...most powerful Primarina in history. Heh." Cygnus commented.

That barely made any sense. I'll be the most powerful? One of the most? How?

"Well, good luck! If you're gonna train might as well train and make it count, my friend. I'll see in the final battle. Make this count, okay?" Cygnus remarked as he disappeared.

"Ah! Where'd he go?" Pip wondered as he checked the spot where Cygnus had been.

"And does that mean... I can finally evolve? And see him in the battle?"

What pip didn't understand was who was like Cygnus. Who else had that kind of power?
