Wiping the sweat off of his brow, Howard Simmons hung his lab coat on the coat hanger. He had just seen development in the experiment, and He was overjoyed. He couldn't wait to see he and Luciles child after it was fully formed. Finally, they would have a family. And honest to goodness family with both wife, child, and husband.

He looked once more at his watch. Almost time. He knew he had to leave soon.

Howard walked over to the tube where his bundle of joy was being created, and kissed the glass. He would see his child in the morning. For now, he would have to pick up some baby naming books.

Walking through the door, he never stopped to think whether or not he closed the door or not. And when he opened the front door of the facility, he never noticed that a hungry ally cat had walked through his legs and into the facility.

He did remember to shut and lock the front door of the facility.

And he did remember to pick up the baby books from the local Barnes & Nobles.

But he did forget to shut the door, to keep the cat out of the lab, and to shut the opening of the tube before leaving.

He never thought that said cat would wander into the testing room, and fall into the tube, killing that poor cat, and changing the DNA.
