chapter 11

Over the next few nights, Katrine kept going to the coffee house to see if Syluss was there. Each time he was, waiting for her. He was devoted to her; he would do anything to ensure her happiness. The two of them began roaming the city streets together, just enjoying being together. He knew eventually he would have to tell her but  didn't know when. He thought about just turning her and then explaining it all.

He did not know if over time she would grow to hate him for it. It would be better to leave it up to her. If there were some way to make her remember him, to see that they were bonded together then maybe she would want to be his vampire mate? If there were a way, then he would have a glimpse of hope. He waited for her feelings for him to develop more before he would tell her anything about it.

Nights rolled into weeks as Katrine was falling in love. She could not believe it. It was pure luck that she went into the coffee shop that night. She had not known even why she had gone in there. She just couldn't remember. She did not really care. She stopped questioning it. She had never met anyone like Syluss. He was dark and mysterious, yet sensitive and light hearted. She enjoyed every moment she spent with him, no matter where they went or what they did. Every time she saw him it was like an adventure.

When she was with him, it was if the world had shifted somehow. She couldn't explain it. She felt like she was in some state of bliss that she had never experienced before. She loved to just be near him. Being with Syluss was all she thought about or cared to do. When they were apart she counted down the moments until she could be with him again. He had even started to invade her dreams. She did not mind that at all. She liked seeing him in her sleep; it was a strange comfort to her. She was so happy it was intoxicating. She felt like she couldn't live without him. She had never fallen for a guy, not like this. It was more than an ache when they were apart. It was a desperate need, like an addiction to him.

Syluss was glad to see things were going so well in the mortal realm. It was still hard for him to believe that he found her. It was like a dream to him. It was just like a dream that he would never want to wake up from. He had found her that was all he needed. He would be more than willing to live out eternity in this strange mortal realm as long as she was with him. He of course missed the underworld, but he would rather miss  home than be  missing her. He couldn't wait to see her again. He knew he would see her later this evening; he was counting down the moments. He couldn't wait, just to touch his dark angel once more. That was all he ever thought about it consumed him. He hardly ever thought of the now dark hunger for blood, unless it weakened him too much.

She was his everything. She was his only reason for being. She had no idea what she meant to him. One day with a little luck she may figure it out. He paced the empty cavern, just before the moon peeked out for its reign in the sky. He waited with great patience as the sun finally set for the end of the day, and his euphoric happiness could begin. He waited with grave anticipation, until the darkness finally set in. The moment it did, he was out of the cavern, bolting through the mountain terrain at a speed three times faster than light. He made it to the coffee house with in seconds. He stayed there and waited for Katrine to meet him there for the night.

Katrine was in her bedroom just hanging out when she looked to the window to see the sun setting. She knew she had to get moving. She grabbed her army green tote bag, flipped off her the music player and ran out of the house. She sprinted through town a good 5 miles to the coffee house. It took her longer than she wished, but she did not care. She could not wait to experience the night with him again. It made her feel free; it showed her what life could be instead of what it was. Katrine felt as if she had not really experienced life until she met Syluss. Things just seemed different with him near her. She did not understand it, but she didn't question it either. She was getting comfortable with him. She tried not to show it for fear of acting desperate.

She was falling in love with him, and she knew it. She was only nineteen but a lot of people had told her she was an old soul. She had not experience life as much as she seemed. Quickly and out of break Katrine rounded the corner to the coffee house, hoping that he was there. She stopped in front of the shop, catching her breath before opening the large glass door. She scanned the inside of the coffee house until she saw him sitting in the back corner at a table for two. She smiled and walked quickly to meet with him. He smiled back at her, waiting for her to get to the table.

"Have you been here very long waiting on me?" She asked batting her eyelashes in a joking manner.

"I wouldn't say too long dear." He replied to her.

"Good I wouldn't want to keep you waiting on little old me." She said in a flirtatious manner.

"To be perfectly honest my Katrine, I would wait all of eternity for you." When he finished that sentence, it put her heart in a sort of euphoric shock, she kissed him. When she pulled back the two of them sat together. They began to discuss that evening's escapade. They went everywhere together. She couldn't help but smile. She had never known that life could be this way. She did not care where they went or what they did so long as she was with him. It was as if her soul clung to his. She did not understand it, but she had done a lot of research on reincarnation, astral travel and kindred spirits. She believed in the supernatural and the paranormal. She accepted it as her destiny, Syluss was her fate, and she loved every minute of it. She couldn't wait to get the night rolling, to just be alone with him as long as she could. It felt like that was all she ever wanted. She was beginning to feel different. She felt like with him by her side she could conquer the world.

Katrine was really starting to wonder if they had known each other in a past life, or several of them. She couldn't help but think that may be possible. She had a strange instinct about these things recently. They were small little things at first. She was starting to notice little changes. She could see things in her mind before they happened. She had dreams that made no sense until later when they would come true. It seemed even stronger during the nocturnal hours. It was almost too powerful when she was near him. She did not mind it at all. She just gazed into his eyes, curious as to what they would be doing this evening? After another few minutes of sitting at the coffeehouse, Syluss looked at her with a wicked smile.

"Would you like to go on a night walk with me? I'd like you to see the caverns in the mountain; it's very quiet and peaceful in the night."

"I would love to see it." She replied to him with great enthusiasm. T

he two of them got up from their back corner table and headed out the door, hand in hand. She couldn't believe how much fun he was; doing the simplest of things with him brought her immense joy. She loved every moment with him, as if the night belonged to them. After an hour of hiking through the forest, the two of them had almost reached the mountain. He let her know it wasn't far now. She really didn't mind the hike, it was exciting for her. She wished they could do this forever.

Syluss was enjoying the night with his dark queen. He couldn't have wanted anything else in any dimension. He had the only person he would ever need for all of eternity. Her name was different but he knew deep down to his demon vampire blood, it was her. He led her softly to the dark caverns where he spent most of his day time hours. Once they climbed to the top, she really loved the view of the stars from the entrance to the caves.
