Chapter 5
Skylar shakes her head, eyes wide with disbelief.
"You're the demon?"
He pushes off the door, arms spread wide, smirking slightly.
"That would be me."
She frowns, tilting her head to the side.
"You don't look very demonic."
In fact, Skylar thinks, he looks quite handsome.
The demon chuckles.
"I can assure you, Skylar Thorne, I am the demon."
Lee whimpers, cowering under the counter top.
She drops her gun, before delving into her pockets to find a smoother knife.
"I'm immortal, darling, don't even try."
She scoffs.
"Immortality doesn't make you numb to pain."
And with that, she pulls her arm back to release the blade, smiling at the muffled thud it makes as it hits.
The demon raises an eyebrow.
"Ouch?"
Skylar pales as he edges closer, looping an arm around her waist and yanking her to his side.
"Now tell me, Skylar," he mutters, lips grazing her ear, "who summoned me?"
She squeaks, staring at the handle of her knife as it protrudes from the centre of his chest.
Would it be wrong to point out Lee, and then run to the nearest Church for some Holy Water?
Probably.
So Skylar does what Skylar does best.
"I swear to God, demon, if you don't let go of me, I will rip your arm off, and slap you with it."
Once again, Lee helpfully whimpers from under the counter top.
The demon grins, reaching out to stroke her face.
"I might just keep you, Skylar Thorne."
