Chapter 8
After I finally got all of that mess sorted out, Clara went to bed and we dropped jack and river where they needed to be, all that's left was confronting the doctor about how I could read his thoughts and who in the world mag is. I found him I the tardis library, sitting in a blue armchair reading harry potter and the deathly hallows. "I love that book you know." I interrupted his reading, he looked up and smiled while he sat the book down. "I cried for two days straight when Fred died." The doctor laughed, I laughed to, but it was more forced than anything. Conversation paused for a minute before I blurted out my qeustion.
"Doctor. Whos meg?" I asked the doctor . He seemed surprised but then turned back to normal, running his hands through his hair. "Mag is short for magaline she was a timelord back on gallifrey."
"Why do I remind you of her?" I asked. He breathed deeply before he began.
"Let me tell you a story." He sat in a chair across of me "On my planet, gallifrey. they passed on royalty differently than on earth. royalty was chosen by talent. every year when time lords were in need of a new queen or king. one time lord would emerge with a special gift. Well, when I was a kid I had two friends. The master and mag, mag was the best. She lived helping anyone she could find. She was just like a storybook princess. But one day, she looked into space. She saw all if it, every time lord child did. And she emerged with the power to read minds. Everyone thought she was next in line, till she died and regenerated; only something went wrong and she lost all timelord in her. so the timelords were going to leave her on earth, but no one knows if they ever made it there on time." He explained. I breathed deeply. I guess now was a better time than any. "Doctor. I heard what you were thinking." I probably looked pale as a ghost right now. He only nodded. "And you were in my mind as well." He said, plainly with no emotion. "Remember when you met Clara? Well....I found this." I pulled the pocket watch out of my jacket. His eyes grew wide. "No." He picked it out of my hands, running his hand over the gallifreyian etching on it. "Gem." I told him what it said. He stared at me for a second before he stood up and left the library. "Doc? What are you doing?" I followed behind him, he turned around putting his hands on my shoulders.
"When I first met you, I recognized you. I saw you before. Once on gallifrey. And now I know what the ood said is true. I have to put you somewhere safe." He said. I saw a bit of care in his old eyes but it was mostly cold; I shook my head before asking him what the ood had said
"The ood are prophecy speakers and once, before I regenerated they told me that one question that echos through all of time. All of space. That qeustion is Doctor who? And When the qeustion is answered. Heros will turn villain and Gems will shine no more." He stared at me curiously, as if I could tell him the answer to the riddle.
"You can't take me home." Is all I replied. "I know." The doctor gave me a peircing glare. "I'm taking you to Jenna and vestra." He didn't look at me for that last bit, he was now pushing buttons and levers on the tardis. "You can't take me there doctor." I argued "I can and I will." He was stern now. "Why doctor." I asked, he stared at me "what?" He stared at me giving me a deathly glare. "Why do you always leave me?" I asked him. He stared at the console. "Out." He pointed at the door. I lifted my head up and walked out the tardis doors, trying not to cry, I stared at jenny, vastra, and strax, biting my lip, before I threw myself onto jenny and cried till I had nothing left to cry.
