Expectations
Expectations
we hate them.
Why?
When we try
to meet them,
or beat 'em
all we succeed in
is failing
and wailing
because we didn't make it
and now we are all hated.
When we meet
or beat 'em,
it only gets harder
forcing us to try to get smarter.
That's great!
But it also raises the stakes,
so that when we try there's less room for mistakes.
That's where our hate originates.
When we don't try,
we don't cry.
When we stay the same,
it's us they blame!
Don't they see
what their doing to me?
I'm stressed!
Never rest!
But I'm the best of the best,
now let me confess.
I have never failed,
though I'm hailed
for being the best student in class.
That comes back to bite me in the ass,
whenever the MAP test
says that I'm not the best.
And I went down,
their smiles turn to frowns.
Their cheers,
turn into insults that sting my ears!
Then I get better,
and their expectations get "better"
but it still comes back
and again I get attacked.
They think highly of me,
but can't they see
that all I want to be
is free
of limitations.
These things we call expectations.
Thanks for reading! Comment, vote, or not it doesn't bother me. I don't expect to get many votes. I just had to write this down. If I like the results I may write more to this book.
