Chapter 1 - before
I tap my fingerpads across my phone screen quickly and press send. Hopefully my best friend will acknowledge my existence and text me back for once. Nobody seems to ever. It all started once she moved away, as she was my only friend. Any others act as if I'm invisible, so they aren't really friends.
My best friend, Jaylin, was forced by her father to move. "A better job, a better life awaits us in a different and small town," he told her. As if. From what I've heard, it's been hell. And since the move, we haven't been able to talk a lot. Once a week if we're lucky, but now it's turned into a couple hi's then she forgets to answer, or I'm just hoping it's forgetting and not ignoring. The separation is tearing me apart, in which I'll explain has led me to bad things.
All I want is a text back, a call for just five minutes. Of course, nothing like that happens for me. Missing the only person who matters to me has led me to self harm. It's an addiction now. I can't stop. It releases the pain inside me that's begging to pool out.
It does pool out, in blood though.
I've tried to stop, when I start thinking about Jaylin, telling myself that she wouldn't want this, but then the demons in my head start screaming at me. "She doesn't care, that's why she ignores you. She would rather you die," they say.
I know I shouldn't listen, but I do.
I have attempted suicide before, but I failed miserably. I tried to cut so deep that I would bleed to death, but instead I only had enough to need bandages, Of which I had to clean up myself. My parents don't know, they don't know at all.
Jaylin suspects it in the phone calls, I can tell. I often hope for a phone call, and when I do I screw it up. I get all depressed and crap. Jaylin's voice is no longer full of happiness like it used to always be, just stress and anxiety. I can tell that if I bring anything crazy up, it causes her to get even more stressed, so I don't let my feelings out to her anymore.
So is this the story of a suicidal girl depressed over her the near loss of her best friend? We'll see, but I have one thing to say,
Xalis is discovering herself as time goes by, and one day it may change her whole life.
