May silently helped Katherine back to the village. She stood against the wall as the other girl curled up on a blanket, still sobbing.

May looked down at her nail polish. It was chipping off. She picked at the rest of it, until her nails was bare.

"It hurts." Katherine said in a small voice.

May pushed off the wall and sat beside the girl. "I know." she said. Katherine rolled over and looked at her with tearfilled eyes.

May bent down and hugged her. Katherine and her may not have been best friends, but there was no way May was going to let her suffer alone.

Katherine sobbed even harder. "It hurts so much and I knew it would happen so why does it hurt?" she whispered into May's shoulder. May stroked her hair.

"Its going to be okay." May wasn't sure what exactly had happened, but she knew from experience that Katherine had gotten her heart broken. One of May's friends had acted exactly like this when they had broken up with their boyfriend.

The doorway darkened and May looked up to see Everest and her group standing there. "Katherine what's wrong???"

Everest ran over and hugged Katherine from being. What's wrong she mouthed at May. May mouthed back heartbreak. Everest nodded and whispered to Katherine.

"Kath? Who did this? I'll kill them for you." Katherine just shook her head and sobbed harder.

The three girls stayed like that while the others in Everest's group silently cleaned and stored the food they had collected. Eventually Katherine stood up.

"I cannot be like this. I am the Queen of Hearts. I control my heart and no one else." she said and determinedly marched outside. "I'm going to collect some acorns or something."

Everest and May exchanged glances. May nervously looked out at the retreating figure. "I'm worried." she said and Everest nodded in agreement.

"Kath is strong but even she'll be hurting for awhile. The crack in her jewels just makes that even more obvious." May sat back down.

"Well, there's nothing we can do right now. We just have to hope that she's as strong as she says she is."

May rolled over and looked at the patch of moonlight on the dirt floor. She couldn't fall asleep. She sighed as she stood up and walked ouside. A small figure was sitting on the beach, looking out at the ocean.

May walked up and sat beside the huddled figure of Everest. The other girl looked over at May, then back at the moonlight water.

"Pretty night." May said. Everest nodded. They sat in silence for a few more minutes.

"Oh fuck it." Everest suddenly said.

May felt a warm, soft presence on her and realized Everest was kissing her. She pulled back and looked at the girl in shock.

"Wha- what're you doing?" She said. Everest looked away.

"Sorry. I've just, liked you for so long. I couldn't stand it anymore. But it doesn't matter. Forget this ever happened." Everest said and stood up. She began walking away. May leapt up and grabbed Everest's wrist.

"Wait," she said and pulled her back.

May woke up to freezing morning air and a warm arm around her waist. She turned over to see Everests face barely an inch away. It wasn't a dream...IT WASN'T A DREAM!!! SOFNS AKLFNDNDKSMDNKFDNS

May quickly stood up and ran back to the hut. What if Everest didn't mean it? What if she was just fooling around? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why did you do that May. Why.

May quickly stepped into the hut and made it appear as if she'd been sleeping there all night. Thankfully, no one was awake yet, so there was no one to know she'd been with Everest.

A few minutes later, the other girl came walking in. Everest looked right at May, who had her eyes slit open just enough to see but not wide enough to look awake, and sighed. "Must've been a dream." Everest muttered and lay down.

May turned over and tried not to cry. She knew she was being ridiculous. She'd wanted to be with Everest for so long. But this wasn't the time. Maybe later, after they'd completely built up Wonderland again, she'd recreate what had happened. But for now, Everest would just have to wait.

Sorry, very short chapter. But hey, I just wrote a 1.6k Destiel oneshot so I'm a little undercreative at the moment. Also, this book is going to have lots of angst in it. Just warning you know in case you want to escape and make up a happy ending where they restore Wonderland and Katherine breaks her curse and lives happily with Ace and May and Everest and Jackson and Michael become actually canon and they all live lovely lives. Cause that ain't gonna happen. I'm gonna stop talking now bye!
