Chapter 10
Rapunzel's POV
I looked in awe at the winter wonderland that was the ice skating rink. I didn't even know there was an ice rink here. Snow White and I squealed in delight and rushed quickly to get our skates. Jack and Ferdinand stayed close behind chuckling at our enthusiasm.
We sat down trying to tie our skates. Jack, Snow White, and Ferdinand had no trouble. But I however fumbled with the strings like a toddler. I huffed in frustration just as Jack sat next to me. He quickly took the laces from my hands and started to tie them. I giggled as he put my leg in his lap so it would be easier for him.
Soon Ferdinand and Jack pulled us to our feet and to the rink.
Ferdinand and Snow White elegantly danced across the ice. Jack pulled my hand toward the rink but I held back. "What's wrong Snowflake?" He asked. "I... I don't know how to skate." I admitted embarrassed. "It's okay. I'll teach you." He smiled. "How?" I asked. "My case is hopeless." He chuckled, "Your boyfriend here is only the Guardian of winter and fun. Trust me I can teach you."
He pulled me out onto the ice holding both of my hands. "Okay." he said. "I'm gonna hold your hands. You skate forwards, and I'll skate backwards." "Okay." I agreed. "But not too fast."
We slowly glided across the rink until he suddenly stopped. "Okay now I'm going to skate next to you." He skated over to my side and held my hand. We skated a lap when suddenly I looked over to tell him something, but he was gone. He wasn't holding my hand. He wasn't even by my side. Then I began to panic. Somehow my feet got tangled up and I fell flat on my butt. For some reason the hard ice felt...soft.
I looked down and realized I was sitting on a pile of snow. I looked up again to see Jack in my face. I screamed. "How are you doing that?!" "Doing what?" He asked completely unaware that he was hanging upside down in mid air. "How are you flying?" I asked. "Oh, that's one of my powers."
He quickly pulled me out of the snow bank. To my horror I realized the jacket I was wearing, my brand new hundred dollar jacket, was soaked and covered in snow. "Oh no!" My jacket got dirty!" I exclaimed. "No problem." Jack gripped his staff and the snow fell off.
"Now, shall we continue skating?" He asked pulling me along the ice. This time he flew above me holding my shoulders as I went. "That's it! You got it!" He shouted words of encouragement. "Okay, I'm gonna let go now." he said. "What? No!" I shouted in fear. "Don't worry. If you fall I'll catch you." He let go and I skated across the ice avoiding small children and various other people. Soon I saw him flying next to me.
Suddenly, he scooped me up and we flew off the rink. I laughed as he set me down. "Wow. That was fun." He ordered us hot cocoa while we waited for our friends.
