Chapter 38

•Anna's POV•

I'd been in the hospital for almost a week. The doctors had kindly explained to me that I had been in an accident- hit by a car- and that I was experiencing temporary memory loss.

They helped me remember who I was and my family. It made a lot more sense now that Elsa was my sister, but they hadn't let her visit me for some reason.

"Alright, Miss Arendelle." I turned my head to see Dr. Capen holding a clipboard. "Today is your departure date. We'll be notifying your sister to come get you." I smiled brightly, happy to finally get out of here.

The walls were beige and the food was bland. In short, it was an awful experience and I couldn't wait to escape- I mean, leave civilly.

•Elsa's POV•

I was on my way up the elevator to the hospital room to pick up Anna. I hadn't heard anything from the doctors, so I hoped her condition had improved.

"Don't be nervous, Elsa. I'm sure everything will be alright."

I frowned slightly at Tadashi. "How'd you know I was nervous?" I asked. "You've been chewing your nails down for the past ten minutes. I think that counts as a sign you're nervous," he chuckled.

I embarrassedly pulled my hands away from my mouth. I didn't even know I was doing that.

As the elevator came to a stop, I walked hand in hand with him to the room and shakily knocked on the door. "Come in." I pushed it open to see Anna and her doctor talking.

"Miss Arendelle, I meant to speak with you sooner. I apologize," he nervously smiled.

"That's alright," I nodded, politely. "How is she?"

"She's improved immensely. Her cerebral cortex appears to be fine. Her memory is better, but it's still mostly inadequate." Um...English please?

"I didn't hurt anything in my brain, but I still don't remember everything. Blah, blah, blah." I giggled at Anna's translation. "We've also found her humor is still intact. A good sign of quick recovery," Dr. Capen said with an amused smile.

"Also," he said. "She does have one cracked rib and a broken arm. I think you should be thankful it's not more serious."

I nodded and he left, telling us he would be back to help her unplug.

"Elsa?"

I looked at Anna with a bright smile. "You remember me?" She nodded and smiled back and I ran to hug her. "Ow, ow, ow." I grimaced and pulled away from her broken bones. "Oops, sorry."

"Who's this?" She asked, pointing to Tadashi. "This is Tadashi, my boyfriend," I blushed. "You know his brother Hiro."

"Hiro..." She rolled the name around in her mouth, trying to recall a memory.

"Um...I don't remember. Sorry." Tadashi shook his head with a gentle smile. "That's alright. It'll come back to you."

"Okay, Miss Arendelle. We've checked over everything, and-" the doctor briefly stopped talking to unplug all of the machinery. "You're good to go." He looked up and smiled warmly.

After Anna had gotten dressed, the doctor had a last word with her before we could leave.

"Right now your brain is at a vulnerable and naïve state. Don't trust anyone except for Elsa," he instructed.
Anna nodded and gave a bubbly smile before we helped her out the door.

"Owie, ow, ow," she whimpered in pain with each step. I frowned and walked slower for her benefit. I would've given anything to take her place.

I looked over at Tadashi to see him smile at me reassuringly, but somehow, I thought of Jack. I wonder what he's doing...

•Jack's POV•

"Whoo!" The loud music and screams from the party blasted through my ears and vibrated around my brain.

Fire up the loud. Another round of shots. Turn down for what! Turn down for what! Turn down for what! Turn down- "The music!" I yelled, covering my ears and groaning.

I was always a fan of parties, but not when I was trying to do homework. The extreme volume from the dorm above mine made my algebra homework exceptionally hard.

I much rather would have been upstairs, dancing the wobble, but I was stuck with x's and y's.

It didn't help either that the dancing bodies above me sounded like a herd of elephants bouncing down the freeway. For all I knew, the ceiling could collapse at any moment, and I'd worked way too hard on that math paper not to survive and see my grade.

"Hey!" I yelled. No one heard me, so I grabbed my staff and started pounding it against the ceiling. "Keep it down!"

After no one heard me again, I sighed and put on my hoodie. Sometimes you have to do everything yourself. I jogged out of my dorm and upstairs to the one above mine. I knocked rapidly on the door. Open up. Open up.

Of course it doesn't open.

I pushed open the door to see everyone gathered in a large circle. How they all got in there, I had no idea. And where were their things?!

I huffed, pushing through the crowd to find out who the host of the party was. "Excuse me," I tapped the shoulder of a short girl with black hair. "Who's party is this?"

"Flynn Rider's," she told me. Ugh.
"Thanks-?"

"Mulan." I smiled and pushed through the rest of the crowd to find Flynn. Maybe he would have the heart to at least turn it down some.

"Hey, Flynn," I called. He turned around and shoved me into the circle, where everyone was staring at me.

"Dance! Dance! Dance!" The crowd chanted, quickly pushing a young boy with messy black hair in also. I shrugged with a big sigh and started dancing to the best of my ability, which wasn't that good, but it wasn't bad either.

The kid, on the other hand, was amazing. He had some crazy moves and danced like there was no tomorrow.

Frost, he even did a backflip.

Then I recognized him. Hiro Hamada, Tadashi's brother. The kid genius. I quickly pulled him out of the circle and to a corner of the packed room. "Hiro, right?" He nodded.

"Does your brother know your here?" He gave a nervous smile. "Um...yeah?"

I chuckled as I noticed the higher pitch to his voice, an obvious lie. "So, you wouldn't mind if I just gave him a call?"

"Actually," he smirked. "I happen to know you don't have his number because you two hate each other."

"Smart kid," I grinned. "I also happen to know a compulsive liar when I see one." His face fell and I quickly dragged him out into the hallway. "Listen, if you help me with my algebra, I won't tell Tadashi. Deal?"

"Deal!"

"So then you just divide the coefficient from the variable and bam- you have your answer."

I smiled as I wrote down the first correct answer of the day. The loud music was still ever-present, but with a tutor, math at least made some sense.

"So, what's 60=5x+10?"

I quickly started working out the problem with a big smile on my face.

Subtract the constant, divide the coefficient, x=- "10!" I exclaimed. "Nice work, that's right."

My grin got wider and my heart swelled with pride. It was just a simple problem, but compared to my earlier catastrophes, it was made of gold.

•Tadashi's POV•

I smiled as Elsa kissed me goodbye before shutting her dorm door. She was perfect.

I slowly walked back to my room, enjoying the short walk between the two buildings. It was a nice day, bright and sunny. I decided I should spend some time outside but first I would go and grab my blueprints for Baymax, my nurse robot.

The keys on my keyring jangled together as I wiggled one into the lock to open the door.

"Hiro, I'm-" I stopped short as I looked around to see the room was empty. I began to panic as he'd told me he would be here the whole time I was gone. And it wasn't like he would go anywhere with our other roommate because we didn't have one.

"Hiro?" I peered into the bathroom. Empty. "Hiro?" I looked under the covers. Empty. "Hiro!" I pulled open the closet. Empty.

Now I wish I'd let him get that phone for Christmas.

I ran out and into the hallway, frantically looking for any sign of him. "Hiro!" I crushed him into a big hug as I saw him walk out of a dorm. "Why aren't you in our room? I've been worried sick!"

"Tadashi, relax," he rolled his eyes. "I'm fine." He squirmed beneath my tight grip but I held on, finally letting him go for room to breathe.

"Why weren't you at your desk studying?" I asked. "He was helping me with homework." I looked to my right to see Jack leaning against the wall. "Yeah," Hiro nodded. "That's me. Study-buddy. Haha."

"You're little bro's pretty cool," Jack grinned. "Are you sure he's not related to me in some way?"

"Whatever," I mumbled. I frowned as they did this weird handshake thing that I'm sure Jack the Idiot came up with. "Peace out, fam," Jack waved at Hiro before he shut himself in his room.

"Did he just call you ham?" I furrowed my brows in confusion. "Why would he call you ham?"

"Fam, Tadashi," Hiro sighed. "It's like someone you're good friends with, or someone you trust." Good friend? Trust? Jack was neither a good friend nor trustworthy.

"Please, I wouldn't trust Jack with a bucket of water if my pants were on fire."

"Okay, look. Jack might like your girlfriend, but that doesn't mean he's a bad person," Hiro told me. "What do you mean? Of course that makes him a bad person!" I threw my hands up in exasperation.

Everyone seemed to like him. Was I really the only one who saw the different side of him?

He had Elsa under his spell along with every other kid at this school, and now Hiro, too? If they couldn't see it on their own, I was going to have to show them. I would show them just how bad Jack Frost can be.
