Talno wandered the city at night, sleeping in inconspicuous locations at day. His circadian rhythm had been destroyed by a life on the run. One night at the crack of dawn, Talno knew he had to find someplace to sleep. He found a large, heavily rusted metal door in a back alley and decided to rest there. He stepped into the room and found it was surprisingly clean. He began to have a sickening feeling that this place was inhabited. He decided to leave but found that the door was locked. Panic rose within him, and his breathing quickened. He heard a voice from everywhere. "Welcome, it appears as if you have stumbled into my humble abode, please make yourself at home. You will be tested shortly." The lights flickered on and Talno saw a very comfortable looking couch and sat down into it, Sagging in its welcome embrace. Suddenly a door slid open. The voice appeared again, instructing Talno to step through the door. Talno did not understand the language but curiosity did get the better of him, and he decided to explore the next door. The lights in that room flickered on and revealed a sheet of math questions on a table. It was very simple arithmetic, but Talno had never even been told what a number was, and it was also written in a foreign language. Talno walked to the next door and attempted to open it. A sigh was heard through the intercom as the lock opened. Talno crept into the next room. In this room there was a table. On it there was a contraption and beside it was the contraption dismantled. The intercom came on and a robot voice spoke in Talno's language "Please reassemble the device" Talno was pleased with hearing his mother tongue. He set to work. Talno observed the mess of parts on the table and the device it was supposed to be. He thought back to his days at the greenhouse and remembered maintaining the water pipes there. He saw things similar to pipes in the mess of parts and found a wrench beside. He used the wrench just as he remembered and reassembled a part of the device. There was still many parts left however, and Talno had lots of work ahead of him.
