Reverse

Lorena stepped into the living room. The clock had just struck midnight.

She had no intention of turning on the lights and headed straight for the stairs.

A soft "click" sounded. A warm yellow glow from the table lamp in the living room spilled into the space that moments ago had been lit only by moonlight.

A familiar face came into view. Lorena raised an eyebrow in surprise.

“Why are you here?” She asked. Natsha should have been on set.

Natsha curled her lips, but there was no hint of amusement in her eyes.

She rose from the sofa and walked toward Lorena, circling her once, examining her from head to toe.

Natsha lifted a strand of her hair and took a sniff. Her eyes narrowed as she spoke suspiciously.

“Did you drink?”

Lorena shot her a sharp look and immediately brushed Natsha’s hand away.

“I’m already like this! Do you think I could still drink?” She said with a huff.

Natsha pouted. If she didn’t drink, then she didn’t drink. Why so fierce about it?

“Aren’t you supposed to be with the film crew? Why are you suddenly back?” Lorena asked.

Natsha shrugged casually.

“It’s done.”

“Done with what?” Lorena frowned.

“Finished shooting.” Natsha slipped her hands into her pockets.

Lorena’s expression shifted slightly.

“Oh! Post-production isn’t done yet, right?” She nodded as if she understood. “When are you leaving again?”

“Not going.” Natsha replied.

“Hm?” Lorena looked at her.

“I handed post-production over to someone else this time.” Natsha was known for holding herself to extremely high standards, but unlike her previous projects, she chose not to handle post-production personally.

“Why all of a sudden?” Lorena bit her lip lightly.

“What do you think?” Natsha asked simply, watching her expression.

Lorena seemed to realize something.

“Ah! I’m fine.” What she meant was, Don’t be bothered. Just focus on your work.

“Dear phi…” Natsha planted her hands on her hips. “…do you even know what time it is?”

Lorena avoided her gaze and said nothing.

“What’s this?” Natsha pointed at Lorena's bare feet. “Where are your house slippers?”

Lorena looked down at her feet. She had no words. What was there to say?

“Did you turn on the lights when you came in?” In just a few short minutes, Natsha had already pointed out countless things.

“Dear phi, you’re thirty two, not twenty two.” She concluded.

Natsha could have ended the “battle” there, triumphant and imposing. Unfortunately, she made the wrong move.

Lorena narrowed her eyes and asked in a low voice.

“What did you say?”

Natsha immediately sensed something was wrong.

She swallowed unconsciously.

“And how old do you think you are?” Lorena ground out. “You’ve already crossed thirty too.”

“Look at the dark circles under your eyes.” Natsha reflexively touched her own eye.

“Even a national treasure of China would ask how on earth you managed to draw "eyeliner" that thick.”

“Your kidneys are screaming for help!” Lorena said without even pausing for breath, cornering her completely.

Natsha instantly shrank back.

After speaking, Lorena stepped hard on Natsha’s foot. Natsha looked down in confusion. What was she doing?

Natsha looked up at her. Lorena flicked her eyes toward Natsha’s slippers.

Still puzzled, Natsha hazily stepped out of them. Immediately, Lorena slipped her feet into the slippers and walked straight up the stairs.

Author's note: The phi immediately got flustered when she heard that someone had been staying at home all the time. :))))
