Chapter 46
"Okay... we're here... and my feet are killing me..." Snowball muttered, clutching his side as the remaining six members of the gang arrived in a small public park in the Bronx. Exhausted, Chloe flopped down on the ground and murmured, "I... need... rest..." The tabby cat's ees were very droopy, hinting she was about ready to fall asleep. Gently slapping her friend's face five times, Gidget reminded the feline, "Chloe, we have to destroy this guy before he kills us. You can make it."
"Guys, speaking of this guy..." Duke mumbled nervously, his eyes round with fear. Following his brother's pointing paw, Max gulped as his fur bristled with fear. Up ahead were a bnch of skeletal like birch trees, all creepy and having a dark feeling to them. And that wasn't the scariest part. A large hole had been dug out before the roots of the biggest trees there and it looked just right to be a grave.
And standing right beside it was none other than Scourge.
"My my, isn't this the most marvelous surprise?" Scourge growled softly, his voice as smooth as silk. Looking at the three long claws he had remaining on his right forepaw, the demon wolf went on, "To think my original plan was going to be hunting each and every one of you down individually. And I succeeded at that for the most part." Gesturing his tail towards the group of shaking animals, he continued, "But now, here you all are. Just ripe for the killing. I shall enjoy every last bit if this-"
"You talk too much," Snowball pointed out.
"YOU KILLED BUDDY!" Mel howled, his teeth bared threateningly. He lunged forward, aiming for Scourge's throat. Everyone else was too slow to stop his actions. Smirking quietly, the demon wolf morphed himself into a dark mist, leaving the pug to snap at nothing but air. Then he went falling into the grave by the skeletal birch tree with a bloodcurdling scream that was cut short by a sickening crunch of bones. While Scourge moved off to the side by a small pond, the rest of the gang gathered around to find a terrifying sight.
At the very bottom of the grave laid the mangled body of Mel, his limbs jutting out in different directions and the life drained out of his eyes.
