I

"Two months ago, despite the warnings, despite the dangers; we resumed out work with the stars. Many different forms of Dream catchers have been created over the span of three millenniums, but none have been fully complete. Today I stand before this assembly, with complete acknowledgement of what I have done, I stand here to tell you that Dream Catcher 2.0 has not only been solved, but created! I wish today I could present you with an army of dream catchers, but what I can offer is a Dream Catcher that's worth an army." The professor starts his eloquent speech that he had practiced over a thousand times.

As knowing my cue I walked out onto the stage, keeping my head up with every stop I took emanating in my fake pride. A restless hush fell over the audience as they all sat forward in their chairs, their necks straining just to get a closer look at me. Faint whispers amongst the chair members caused an uneasiness in the Professor. Suddenly a wave of silence hit us as everyone's eyes swung to the Professor as if waiting for an explanation for the atrocity that is me. "She may not look like much. True, she doesn't have the traditional Dream Catcher teal skin, but Dream Catchers work around humans for most of their life. What's the point of wasting 46 percent of their power in camouflage when we could have done something to prevent the whole thing? Reason, none." I hadn't even realized that I had been holding my breathe. As I released it I saw a select few members of the audience turn to look at me with their judgmental gazes.

"Now, with this more efficient Dream Catcher, this version can complete their task quicker and with ease. Highly trained in the art of persuasion, the new Dream Catchers have to not only persuade others in their training but persuade themselves, one task that is truly hard to do." Everything about the Professor started to get stressed and nervous as I knew the next part of his speech by heart. "I understand that these experiments have been banned and now to complete any trial or even attempt any experiments with the stars are illegal and will be charged with treason; but did that ever stop any scientific minds from continuing to better the world, or worlds in this case? I want to propose that we do a trial run and out our new Dream Catcher to the Prince of Earth dilemma."

I watched over the various faces of the audience, to know that you were created in a science lab is one thing, but knowing it was illegal to do is another level. Most of the audience was made of weary old men, as well as a flood of real colored Dream Catchers in black uniforms. A small group of gentlemen started murmuring to each other as if they were deciding what to do with us, with me. I kept my head down, staring at my normal human clothes the professor gave me, to some of the other Dream Catchers it would be as if their name was disgraced by having a human stand before them.

"Professor, you have clearly addressed your points beautifully. The Dream Catcher 2.0 to be created for nothing more than their job, was nothing more than a dream." One of the older men stood up.

"Yes it was a dream but now it's reality!" The Professor rushed over to my side grasping my arms causing a slight wince to gleam across my eyes.

"No weakness and no fear. It's just a dream, and that's how it's going to stay. You pointed out our laws so we don't need to go over them, or their punishments. Professor, I hear by find you guilty of treason against the people of the Dimension Hole. Our laws aren't meant to be followed half of the time and broken for any reason, they are to be obeyed. You understand these rules are here for a reason, to protect the people of every dimension. You shall be executed for your treason and your creation will be disposed of as well."

"Before you give me a chance?" I spoke out.

"Pardon me?" He turned to face me. His eyes bore into mine, in such a way to scare fear into whomever they looked at, but for some reason they encouraged me even more.

"Excuse me for speaking when not spoken to, but are you going to really give up before trying? Why enter a race if you're never going to leave the start? You're setting yourself up for failure because if you failed whatever you were doing, you think that's more dishonorable than not doing it at all. Who can say they had the audacity to try when no one has the guts to even try anything. If everyone did that everyone would have been gone thousands of years ago for being scared. You're here because your parents did not give up. You're here because the creators of this program didn't give up. You're here because those from our past influenced our future by not giving up. Honor them and try. If I fail at whatever test you throw at me do what you wish. But don't sink us before even letting us learn how to float." I stood tall.

Awaiting punishment from speaking out of turn in such a manner I didn't even feel a quiver of fear. I spoke my mind, the only lesson my rigorous training had taught me. Never be afraid to speak your mind, as long as you speak the truth no one will ever be able to control you or conform you to everyone else's ways. His dark brown eyes surveyed me, I hadn't moved from my place since I walked out onto the stage. Either he would unsheathed his sword and kill me on the spot, or congratulate the Professor as if he had out my own thoughts inside my head. I knew everyone's eyes were on the man, I almost wished they were staring at me, helping to strike the realization into his mind that I was right. I could just enter his mind, as if I had a mental hand grasping his brain. Before I knew it I was inside his mind without meaning to, instantly I jumped out confused how I actually did that. It was as if the mind was a canvas filled with the ideas of the owner, and I was holding the paintbrush ready to change anything I wanted.

As soon as he realized what I had done, what I had almost done, he unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards my neck. Initially I wanted to fight back, that's when I saw a clear sword made of stars in my hand. "I'm not going to fight, if this be my fate so be it." I kneeled down as if ready to be executed.

"Well done." He dropped his sword and started clapping. "Multiple times the typical human instinct inside of you choose to fight, and each time you fought it and won. This is hard to teach, but not something that the Professor has taught you. You're willing to take anything we could throw on you, but first we need to know your capabilities." He smiled.

"Ladies and gentlemen for the dimension hole, I know what has happened here and that this being here alone is treason. As chairman of the board I have decided to hold off ruiling. I will personally Test this new Dream Catcher and determine whether or not she is worthy of taking not only the uniform, but the oath of a Dream Catcher. As for the Professor I will not allow myself to make the sole decision. Professor, until the board has come up with an answer regarding your treason you will be held in the black hole with the traitor."

The professors hope that my few words had sparked fled within an instance. His whole being froze with a paralyzing consternation. Four guards approached the Professor and I, the Professor fought against them as they dragged him across the filthy stage floor. They started getting closer to me, I stood and instantly walked to them arms outstretched allowing them to shackle my wrists. A sharp pinch went through my thigh as all senses started to leave me until all air could do was lay dormant within my mind.

Unlike the chairman's mind mine was almost covered, there seemed to be a blank canvas, but a hidden word unable to be seen. A wall of unknown. The professor did confide in me that I was once human, I died and he used the body to create who I was now. Dream Catcher 2.0, the only one in existence. Unnamed, unwanted, unknown. The chairman won't give me a chance, he just didn't want to seem weak towards his board members, I saw the painting of his decision plastered on his canvas in bod. The image showed him standing over my body, fire surrounded as my eyes remained open staring right into me. I knew that my mind would be my prison, they would only release me as I'm needed.
